Winning Over the Father-in-Law

1/11/2026

Hearing Landon Lu spout such arrogant words, even Daniel Dong—no matter how good his temper—was thoroughly provoked. Damn it, with that attitude you still want to marry my daughter? You’re dreaming.

He gave Landon a mocking look and sneered, "You sure talk big—aren’t you afraid you’ll bite your tongue? You think the military works like your civilian world? In the army, promotions depend on combat merit. And don’t try to use your civilian rank to impress me.

Your so-called lieutenant colonel rank means nothing to us. Honestly, even a second lieutenant outranks your kind of colonel!"

Unfazed by Daniel’s put-down, Landon just shrugged. "Uncle, you’re mistaken. My colonel rank may not be worth much, but don’t forget—I’m also a Psychic Adept!"

When Landon brought up being a Psychic Adept, Daniel assumed the kid had run out of tricks and laughed proudly. "Ha! You’re just a two-star Psychic Adept! Our 96th Division has several of those already!"

"Who told you I’m only a two-star Psychic Adept?" Landon replied, playing with the words.

Daniel froze, staring at Landon suspiciously. "Don’t tell me you’re a three-star Psychic Adept?"

Landon just smiled and said nothing.

Seeing that look, Daniel felt the urge to smack him. "Kid, quit acting tough in front of me. Are you saying you’re a three-star Psychic Adept now?"

"You can’t fake something like this. If you don’t believe me, Uncle, just use a mental-strength tester and see for yourself!" Landon said lazily.

Looking at Landon’s calm expression, Daniel Dong started to waver. Was this kid really a three-star Psychic Adept?

But he’s so young—could he really be a three-star Psychic Adept?

If it were true, then his future accomplishments would be nothing short of extraordinary.

Thinking this through, Daniel said in a deep voice, "Since you want to test, I’ll have someone bring over a mental-strength tester."

In less than five minutes, a soldier brought over a mental-strength tester.

Landon took the device, then channeled his mental power into it. The numbers on the screen jumped rapidly: 1… 3… 5… 10… 57… 103.

When the number finally stopped at 103, Daniel’s feelings were complicated—he didn’t know whether to be happy or…

Landon spoke again: "Uncle, I’m only twenty years old. Tell me, how many people at my age reach three-star Psychic Adept? If I joined the military as a three-star, do you think they wouldn’t fight over me? To win me over as a future master—or even grandmaster—would they really hesitate to offer me a full colonel rank?"

Hearing Landon boast so shamelessly, Daniel was annoyed, but he had to admit it was true. Psychic Adepts were just too important to the Federation—piloting high-end ships and warships all depended on them.

That’s why, whether it’s the government or the military, both value Psychic Adepts extremely highly.

"Uncle, let's be real—even if you marry your daughter to Marshal Feng's son, it's not guaranteed you'll get the division commander seat!"

"You brat, what do you know!" Daniel Dong snapped, annoyed.

Landon Lu continued, "Like they say, you have to be strong yourself. From what I know, your biggest rival, Commissar Qian, is already a War King, but you're still stuck at Ninth-Level War General. That puts you a step behind. And sure, you want to cozy up to Marshal Feng for support, but don't you think Commissar Qian has connections too? If you both have backing, then in the end, it all comes down to real strength!"

Hearing Landon's analysis, Daniel Dong's expression shifted. "So you're saying I don't have a shot this time?"

"Of course you do—because I'm going to help you, Uncle!" Landon said confidently.

"How?" Daniel Dong looked at Landon, still skeptical.

With a flip of his hand, Landon produced a fragrant, emerald-green pill.

"A pill? You actually have a cultivation pill!" Daniel Dong exclaimed, excited.

"Uncle, if I'm not mistaken, you've been stuck at Ninth-Level War General for five or six years now, right?" Landon added.

"That's right—how did you know?"

Landon grinned smugly.

Smack!

Donna Dong blushed and kissed Landon on the cheek. "Now you have to tell me!"

"It has to be on the lips!" Landon said with a mischievous grin.

"Landon Lu, don't push your luck!" Donna protested, waving her fist at him.

"If you want to know, kiss me. If you don't, you can choose not to!" Landon said, totally unfazed.

"...You...!"

In the end, Donna gave in. She stood on tiptoe and leaned in to kiss Landon's lips. Just then, Landon suddenly wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a deep, passionate kiss.

"Ugh, this jerk is kissing me again!" Donna cursed inwardly.

......

At three in the afternoon, Landon sensed a surge of energy from the study. He knew that with the pill he'd given, Daniel Dong had broken through.

That night, Landon returned to his own villa only to find Victor Tang had already left. Victor had left a note behind, the handwriting neat and delicate like a girl's. If Landon hadn't used Clairvoyant Vision to check Victor's chest earlier, he might've suspected Victor was actually a woman.

With Daniel's breakthrough, the power dynamics in the 96th Division had shifted.

Donna's relationship with Landon was also on a new level.

Meanwhile, Landon continued weaving between military factions, Blue Blood plots, and native resistance, quietly shaping the future of Planet Natura from the shadows.
