That flying weapon wasn’t just any old thing—it was a massive, radiant spinning disk of yin and yang. BOOM! The impact was nothing like Jasper Xiao’s phantom warhammer. The Great Winged Demon took it right to the forehead, its huge head snapping back, forced into a midair backflip before retreating in embarrassment.
With a shudder of its wings, the Great Winged Demon steadied itself. Black light flashed as it looked up. All the thick clouds had poured into the volcano’s mouth. In the east, the sky was glowing with a rosy haze—dawn was sneaking up on everyone. Bathed in the pink glow, Jill Young soared up, snatched her returning Xuan Divine Weapon embryo with a crisp smack, and landed gracefully on the volcano’s edge.
Standing guard like a one-woman fortress, Jill’s golden and the demon’s black eyes clashed. Their battle auras tangled and roared, churning like nuclear reactors. The Great Winged Demon grew wary, pointing its sword from afar but not daring to make the first move.
Whoosh! Teacher Yang grabbed Jasper Xiao midair and landed beside Jill Young, standing shoulder to shoulder with her.
"You’re early."
"If you weren’t slacking, I wouldn’t have to rush!" Jill shot him a sideways glance, finally getting back at him for calling her "too weak" before.
Jill didn’t bother with the jab, changing the subject: "Looks like things are going smoothly." He grabbed the Xuan Divine Weapon embryo, which was now blazing with energy. "With the volcano’s power, we can finally give it one last big boost. Now it’s brimming with energy—at its absolute peak, just one last push and it’ll evolve."
He paused, sighed helplessly, and added, "By the way, I have to admit: when facing these totally unreasonable types, my Dragon Elephant Technique and inner strength are way behind. With less than two dragons’ worth of power, I can’t even break its defenses."
They say brute force beats ten techniques, but the Great Winged Demon isn’t just strong—it’s got speed, power, offense, and defense, plus solid fighting skills. So it’s not just brute force! Sure, Teacher Yang’s got more than ten tricks up his sleeve, but that annoying Dreadwing Armor is the real pain.
It’s not a lifeless hunk of metal—the resonance frequency is wild and always changing, so the Metal Fatigue Palm is useless. But it’s not alive either, so there’s no energy flow, no Achilles’ heel to exploit, and the internal martial arts don’t work. The armor can’t fully block inner strength, but Teacher Yang’s skills aren’t enough to deal a decisive blow to the undying Great Winged Demon.
This armor can greatly reduce concussive attacks and even partially shield against spiritual damage. That’s why Jack Young and Jasper Xiao have thrown everything at it, but still feel like mice trying to bite a turtle—there’s nowhere to start. Good thing it’s these two; if anyone less solid came, the Great Winged Demon would’ve chopped them up ages ago, let alone been stalled this long.
As for the spirit-body mismatch, this last Ringwraith took a different route and came up with an unusual solution.
It gave up on having the soul control the body and settled for playing support. The Ringwraith only uses its soul to keep the body active and issues broad commands—everything else is left to the body’s instincts, so it can’t even say a word. But this extreme approach fits the body perfectly, turning its biggest weakness into... well, less of a weakness.
You could say the Great Winged Demon is hands-down the strongest among all Nine Wraiths.
“Whoa, you’re actually admitting it? That’s rare!” Jill Young raised an eyebrow, surprised. Usually, Big Log would be stubborn to the end, especially in his half-sleepwalking state. Looks like as the Insight Technique improves, Big Log’s personality is coming back to life.
But since he admitted it, Jill’s not the type to keep nagging. Her mood cleared up, and she even turned around to comfort him: “Everyone’s got their specialty. You and I each have our strengths and weaknesses, nobody’s perfect. That’s exactly why we can help each other out.”
“Hey, Jack, need a hand?” Jasper Xiao asked, eyes glued to the Great Winged Demon but still finding time to butt in. “You know, half your body’s all black and red now—pretty freaky.”
Jack Young was still in Frostbound State. The energy’s corrosion showed up clearly on his skin, like you could see the paint inside an ice sculpture.
His lower body and the edges of his hands and wrists looked like they’d been dipped in ink—black and red, seriously creepy. Ice chips kept flaking off him, and those were weirdly colored too. With every crackle, the ice shards exploded in midair, turning to icy dust, like Jack himself was falling apart. Just looking at him made you wince.
“Nah, I’m good.” Jack Young was always this honest: “But honestly, hitting him just now felt like I was scratching an itch for him. Kinda frustrating.”
“Feeling frustrated is good! The more annoyed you are now, the sweeter the payback’s gonna be.” Jill Young raised her right hand and clasped Jack Young’s left. Instantly, Yin and Yang merged, a strange radiance sprung forth—the power born of their union poured into Jack, healing his wounds and driving out the dark magic. The black-red energy was quickly forced out, and Jack finally let out a breath, dropping out of Frostbound State.
The Great Winged Demon’s pupils contracted—it was suddenly on high alert.
Jill glanced at the fading scorch marks on Jack’s skin, her face turning serious as anger bubbled up. “Since when did we ever get outmuscled like this? We’re taking this round back!”
“Agreed. So—” Without a word of tactical discussion, Jack Young suddenly grabbed Jill’s right hand with his left. He spun, twisted his waist, and swung his arm, whirling Jill around like a top. Whoosh—wind whipped up as Jack spun, kicking up a mini cyclone.
Amid flying sand and stones, a dragon shadow flashed by, and Jack’s spinning sent Jill’s speed skyrocketing. The Great Winged Demon was stunned for a split second, and in that instant, Jill moved like a hammer throw athlete—one step, a shoulder twist, a swing of the arm, a release! Boom! The empty ring exploded, and a platinum beam shot out like a laser cannon.

“Eat my fist, old Yang!”
Bang—! Four dragon shadows tangled and roared as Jill’s punch landed on the Great Winged Demon’s chest and belly in a flash. The shockwave whipped up a gale, making Jasper Xiao blink. When he opened his eyes, Jill and the Great Winged Demon were already brawling, plummeting toward the foot of the mountain like a meteor.
“Whoa!” Jasper Xiao glanced at the sheer cliff, then at himself, and finally at Jack Young. “Jack, next time I swear I’ll learn Lightness Skill, but for now, can you give me a lift?”
“No.” Jack Young, rarely this blunt, showed a hint of stubbornness and irritation on his usually blank face. “This time I’m going all out—I want to see what it’s really capable of!”
Whoosh! Jack Young leapt, shooting through the air like a missile in hot pursuit.
Jasper Xiao was left gaping on the mountainside. Well, the nice guy finally snapped—looks like I’ll have to get down by myself. But—he glanced around—this cliff is so steep and so high, I’ll be climbing till the year of the monkey!
Whoosh! Jasper Xiao jumped down, feet skidding along the cliff face like he was skiing—pretty fast, actually. But compared to that streak of blue light in the sky, he was nowhere near fast enough.
Damn, next time I’m not just learning Lightness Skill—I’m growing wings!
Meanwhile, Jill Young and the Great Winged Demon were locked in a nonstop aerial brawl—rolling, twisting, trading heavy blows. Fists slammed into fists, Eggshell armor clashed with Supreme Skill, black-red demon fire met Supreme Skill head-on—it was a battle of titans. The sound of blows rang out like bells, and shockwaves blasted in every direction. The two fighters, tangled together, looked like a meteor constantly exploding and breaking apart, streaking across the sky as they plummeted downward.
Aerial combat was a huge advantage for the Great Winged Demon, and it knew it. It roared, spread its wings, and tried to hover—but Jill stomped on its chest, grabbed its neck, and punched it in the forehead. "Thought you were so tough, huh?" Boom—the air behind its head vibrated, its helmet bent, and the Great Winged Demon felt the world spinning.
Its dizzy gaze swept the sky—then its pupils shrank. It saw a streak of blue-white light, like a flying sword, dropping from above.
“Payback time!” Jill Young flashed, raising her right hand to the sky. In an instant, two dragon shadows shot from Jill into Jack Young, and the blue-white light burst out in a dazzling blaze. The next moment, Jack’s foot stomped hard on the Great Winged Demon’s face.
Thud-thud-thud—three kicks in a row, rattling its skull. The old triple elbow didn’t do much, but this triple kick was something else. The thunderous impacts sent all three of them plummeting downward.
As they fell, one red and one blue beam twisted around the Great Winged Demon, stabbing, smashing, kicking, and pounding—especially targeting its wings. Wave after wave of attacks piled up, and the three tangled fighters accelerated, finally streaking across the battlefield like a meteor and slamming into Sauron's Tower.
Boom! The twins seized the moment and unleashed a brutal combo on the Great Winged Demon, pouring all their momentum from the fall into its body. With a massive explosion, the Great Winged Demon shot into Sauron's Tower like a cannonball. Rumble, crackle—the whole tower shook three times, huge chunks of stone breaking off and crashing down.
The monsters clinging to Sauron's Tower were out of luck—crushed under tons of falling stone, their screams echoing in despair. The Alliance of Light warriors scrambled to retreat, because if the tower collapsed, it’d be a disaster. Chaos and dust filled the battlefield.
