Chapter 770: Despair

At the same time, the fog-filled illusion was shattered by the endless Abyssal Flames and falling meteors—like a whirlwind sweeping through, all the mist vanished, and those terrifying magical ripples disappeared as well.

In its place appeared a transparent Radiant Barrier that enveloped the entire Life Sigil Sanctuary...

With the emergence of this barrier, the Ashen Orcs’ assault was immediately slowed. Countless fireballs trailing black smoke and meteors crashed into the shield, sending out ripples like water, but not a single spell could break through its defense.

The barrier, though seemingly thin, pulsed constantly. Each pulse absorbed every attack, distributing the force across the shield. Inside the Life Sigil Sanctuary, every plant glowed, continuously feeding power into the barrier. As long as no single attack exceeded the shield’s limit, the undulating ripples would dissolve the force.

Seeing the savage Ashen Orcs finally kept at bay outside the Life Sigil Sanctuary, the Dark Elves breathed a sigh of relief.

The Second Elder glanced at Leon, who was watching the battle with his arms folded in the distance, and couldn't help but feel a bit fortunate.

Thankfully, Leon Merlin could control the Life Sigil Crystal and use its power for defense. Otherwise, the crystal would have been shattered by now...

That foolish Third Elder actually cooperated with the Dread Dragon Warlord. Did he forget that the Dread Dragon Warlord is notorious for breaking his word? If he gets the chance to wipe out the Dark Elves, he absolutely won't let it slip by.

That wicked creature has deceived his enemies countless times, only to strike when they least expect it.

The Third Elder actually wanted to use the Dread Dragon Warlord’s artifact. Once he locates the Life Sigil Crystal, he’ll destroy it without hesitation!

Luckily, Leon Merlin was able to borrow the power of the Life Sigil Crystal. Otherwise, the Dark Elves would have suffered more than half their casualties before the crystal was even shattered...

The Second Elder gazed at Leon from afar, wanting desperately to thank him, but with the crisis unresolved, he had to suppress the urge for now.

Seizing this precious opportunity, all the Dark Elves busied themselves with healing wounds and restoring magic. No one knew how long the barrier, powered by the Life Sigil Crystal and sustained by every plant in the sanctuary, would last. A brutal battle was coming—their final chance. If they couldn’t repel the Dread Dragon Warlord’s army, the Dark Elves were doomed to extinction today...

Seizing this precious opportunity, all the Dark Elves busied themselves with healing wounds and restoring magic. No one knew how long the Radiant Barrier, powered by the Life Sigil Crystal and sustained by every plant in the Life Sigil Sanctuary, would last. A brutal battle was coming—their final chance. If they couldn’t repel the Dread Dragon Warlord’s army, the Dark Elves were doomed to extinction today...

The barrier trembled violently, but none of these attacks managed to overwhelm it in an instant. No matter how many came, they couldn’t break through.

At that moment, the Dread Dragon Warlord slowly rose from the rear of the army, sneering at the Radiant Barrier: "Dark Elves, this is your last struggle. Now, let me extinguish your final hope!"

With that, the Dread Dragon Warlord began to rise into the air...

Suspended in midair, the Dread Dragon Warlord raised both hands. Endless black smoke surged from the void, gathering above his head into a pitch-black cloud. Rolling thunder rumbled within the haze.

A terrifying roar and evil aura swept across the battlefield like a storm. Every Ashen Orc infected by the sinister energy had their eyes turn blood-red, black veins crawling through their eyeballs. Their attacks grew even fiercer, and the Demon Warlocks’ abyssal spells became more powerful...

The meteors that had been falling were only three or four meters across at most, but now, every meteor conjured by the demon warlocks was at least that size. The relentless impacts made the barrier tremble ever more violently—it looked like it might not hold much longer.

The orc slaves roared madly, swinging their axes and hammers with such force that many wrists split open, blood splattering everywhere—yet their strength only seemed to grow.

The Dread Dragon Warlord hovered in midair, laughing maniacally.

"Damn Dark Elves, your history ends today. From now on, there will be no more Dark Elves in this world—only Ashen Orcs! As for those red-skinned dwarves, they'll share your fate soon enough. Don't worry, it won't be long. I am destined to rule the entire God-Demon Dominion!"

With the Dread Dragon Warlord taking action personally, the Dark Elves within the Life Sigil Sanctuary grew tense.

Worry creased the Second Elder’s face. The Ashen Orcs’ spellcasting ability was on par with the Dark Elves—normally, such a spell wouldn’t take this long. But now, the Dread Dragon Warlord was spending ages on a single incantation. Even with the barrier in the way, it was clear he was preparing an eighth-tier spell!

And it was an eighth-tier spell of terrifying power!

No one knew if the barrier could withstand such force. Many clansmen were already injured, and everyone’s magical reserves were dangerously low. If the fighting continued, they wouldn’t last much longer...

Soon, the Second Elder’s fears became reality...

The black smoke behind the Dread Dragon Warlord twisted into a massive vortex, spinning wildly and drawing in all the abyssal energy nearby. It grew so powerful that the vortex began to collapse inward. A terrifying aura radiated from its center, and every Dark Elf within the Life Sigil Crystal Sanctuary could feel its dread.

In an instant, dark red flames erupted as all the abyssal energy collapsed into the center, forming a colossal meteor over thirty meters wide!

Streams of magma flowed across the meteor’s pitted surface, which belched smoke and fire from its craters.

Boom...

A deafening roar echoed through the air as the atmosphere itself rumbled under pressure. The massive meteor plummeted at a steep angle, trailing fire and smoke that propelled it even faster...

In less than two seconds, the meteor slammed into the Radiant Barrier, right before the eyes of all the Dark Elves.

Instantly, the dense ripples on the Radiant Barrier vanished. A terrifying shockwave, centered on the giant meteor, swept across the entire barrier.

The Orc Thralls pounding away with axes and hammers beneath the Radiant Barrier were instantly reduced to ashes by the shockwave—dozens gone in the blink of an eye...

A tsunami-like wave surged across the Radiant Barrier’s surface, each swell striving to absorb the meteor’s devastating force. Inside the Life Sigil Sanctuary, every plant unleashed its full power, filling the space with countless glowing motes. These firefly-like lights streamed into the barrier in a luminous river.

The Radiant Barrier’s strength was continually reinforced, but the situation didn’t improve. More and more massive waves spread out from the meteor’s impact point.

Before the shield could absorb one shockwave, another crashed into it.

Suddenly, the barrier—once like a curtain of water—began to twist and distort violently. After three seconds, it finally buckled under the strain...

Pop...

Like a bubble bursting, the entire Radiant Barrier shattered into countless fragments, each dissolving into motes of light and fading away...

In that instant, the final obstacle was gone. The Ashen Orc Warhost roared as they stormed into the Life Sigil Sanctuary, hacking every plant they encountered to pieces...

The Second Elder gazed at the scene in utter despair—the last defensive bastion of the Dark Elves had fallen...

Looking around at the wounded and weary Dark Elves, and comparing them to the savage Ashen Orcs, it was painfully clear how this would end...

The Second Elder gathered his magic and floated into the air, the first to cast a spell. Instantly, a hundred Orc Thralls were shredded by a raging wind.

"The Dark Elves have never bowed their heads to shameful invasion. Today, we will not let our name be stained—fight to the last moment!"

With a roar, the Second Elder charged forward to confront the Dread Dragon Warlord. Hundreds of wind blades formed a tornado, surging toward the warlord and forcing the orc wind riders to retreat in panic.

The Dread Dragon Warlord laughed, not even bothering to take a serious stance.

"Old fool, your strength is nothing like it was back then. And you still want to fight me? If you want to play, then I’ll play along."

The Dread Dragon Warlord waved his staff, summoning dozens of smoke-trailing fireballs around him. The fireballs collided and merged, surging toward the whirlwind.

Wind blade tornado and blazing firestorm collided, sending fierce flames surging in all directions. Fireballs crashed together, and in the final impact, they exploded, dispersing the wind blades by sheer force.

The next moment, dozens more dark red, smoke-tailed flames shot from the haze above, hurtling toward the Second Elder.
