Discovering a Spy Stealing Seasonings
In the private dining room, Arthur Evans and his family of three were already waiting.
When Professor Jade Evans entered, the family quickly stood up to greet him. Leonard Yuan was especially excited, feeling that it was a tremendous honor for Professor Jade Evans to join their family for a meal.
Leonard Yuan, overwhelmed with excitement, moved Professor Jade Evans's seat and poured tea for him, looking every bit the respectful and diligent student.
Bella Bell came in and greeted everyone.
Bella Bell was familiar with Arthur Evans's family, and since they were in her own restaurant, her service was especially attentive.
"Professor, feel free to order whatever you like. This restaurant is my sister's, and the dishes here are the best in the capital. My sister is amazing—she can cook and run a business, and all the dishes on this menu are her inventions." Leonard Yuan handed the menu to Professor Jade Evans with both hands, full of pride as he spoke about his sister, Su Li.
Leonard Yuan was completely unaware that he was praising Su Li right in front of her, but everyone else understood and couldn't help but cover their mouths in amusement.
Leonard Yuan's entire attention was focused on Professor Jade Evans, and he didn't notice his family secretly laughing.
Professor Jade Evans ordered some dishes and let Arthur Evans and his family add their favorites. Bella Bell took the menu and left.
In the private room, everyone was having a lively conversation, with laughter ringing out from time to time.
Since it was a family meal, their dishes were served first, and the food arrived quickly.
The dishes were fragrant and flavorful. Su Li tasted them and was very satisfied. Her chosen head chefs were all handpicked and up to her standards—they hadn't let her down.
After everyone had eaten and chatted, Leonard Yuan remembered how busy Professor Lily Evans was, so he didn't keep him any longer and ended the banquet.
Professor Jade Evans said he wanted to look around, so he let the Yuan family leave first. He then strolled out of the private room and wandered around the restaurant, supposedly to tour it, but in fact, he was inspecting.
After all, with this face, very few people knew he was actually Su Li.
Inspecting as the owner and as a customer reveals very different things. Sometimes, taking on the role of a customer helps you spot issues you’d miss as the boss.
Professor Jade Evans wandered around the restaurant and suddenly spotted the same suspicious figure he'd seen earlier at the private room door—every inch of him looked sneaky.
Su Li looked at the man, thought for a moment, and suddenly remembered who he was.
Previously, when Su Li was inspecting the restaurant, Bella Bell had mentioned that a spy had sneaked in—this must be the one.
This spy was deliberately allowed to stay in the restaurant, with people assigned to watch him, hoping to follow the trail and catch the mastermind behind him.
So Su Li paid extra attention to this spy and deliberately walked over to him.
The spy happened to slip into a small room, which was a storeroom for various exotic spices and miscellaneous items.
Su Li quietly peeked inside and saw the spy searching the storeroom. He finally stopped in front of the bags of exotic spices, glanced around, then grabbed a handful from each bag and stuffed them into his clothes.
The spy took the spices and left, showing no interest in anything else—clearly, the exotic spices were his target.
The spy exited the storeroom and glanced around. Seeing a young man in white at the corner, he was clearly startled and looked guilty. But when he realized the white-clad youth was just a stranger, likely a customer and not a staff member, he visibly relaxed and hurried past Su Li.
