This Is a Giant Demon

So the three of them threw on their rain capes, pulled on bamboo hats, and rode the Red-crested Golden Eagle through the downpour to the embankment. Something like a Giant Pangolin Demon burst out of the collapsed mountain, scurrying rapidly across the ground.

There were plenty of soldiers on that side, constantly piling sandbags onto the embankment. It was, in fact, a Giant Pangolin Demon.

But even with all that effort, the embankment was straining to hold back the rising water, and looked like it could collapse at any moment. And its size... There was no doubt—the mountain had collapsed because it burrowed right through it.

The three of them took one look and instantly knew—there was nothing they could do to help. Wherever it crawled, a deep trench appeared.

If the rain kept pouring like this, no matter how many sandbags they added, it wouldn’t matter! Collapse was just a matter of time! The raging river poured out from the gap in the collapsed mountain, surging along the trench carved by the Giant Pangolin Demon.

The trio landed on a high mountain beside the riverbank. "That direction is sparsely populated—it leads straight to the southern sea. It’s the perfect channel for the floodwaters," Samuel Summers murmured.

The moment they touched down, the embankment was already giving way. The scene was shocking—danger was everywhere. The three stared at the bizarre scene, speechless for a long time.

Suddenly, a majestic Red-crested Golden Eagle appeared in their line of sight. But this was just the beginning.

Under General Evan Xiao's command, the Red-crested Golden Eagle directed the soldiers to retreat. A thunderous boom suddenly erupted upstream.

Soon, everyone on the embankment had been evacuated to safety. The three turned to look—the mountain over there had collapsed.

And the person atop the Red-crested Golden Eagle... was clearly Evan Xiao!

"Is that the General?" Maya Summers asked in confusion.

"Yes," Grace replied.

Even from miles away, she could sense his presence.

"That scoundrel sure moves fast! He got here in no time!" Maya Summers said, her face darkening.

"Scoundrel?" Samuel Summers stared at her. "Who are you talking about? The General?"

"Who else could it be?"

"Why do you say that about him?" Samuel Summers asked, puzzled.

"This General, already married, lied to Grace and said he wasn’t. When the wedding day came, he said he’d take her as a concubine. Isn’t that just ridiculous?" Maya Summers said angrily.

"What? No way! The General isn’t that kind of person!" Samuel Summers said, incredulous.

"Who wouldn’t? I used to think he was great. I was even a little jealous of Grace!"

"Don’t be jealous, Maya. You’ll find someone even better!" Grace sighed.

Samuel Summers flashed Maya a quick smile.

Maya didn’t say a word, just stared at the embankment.

"Look—what’s that?" Maya suddenly pointed at the embankment, stunned.

Grace and Samuel Summers looked over, their eyes widening in shock.

"Whoa—what is that?" Samuel Summers exclaimed.

"Why does it look like a giant octopus from the sea?" Grace muttered.

"There’s no way an octopus could be that big! That’s a Giant Octopus Demon!" Maya said.

...

Suddenly, a tentacle shot out from beneath the embankment, wrapping around a boulder on the mountain to the left.

Then another tentacle stretched out, gripping a solid spot on the mountain to the right.

Two more shot out, latching onto places upstream.

One of them was frighteningly close to where they stood on the mountaintop.

The tentacles were terrifying, each covered in massive suction cups—each one as big as a washbasin—clinging tightly to the mountainside.

The Giant Octopus Demon was actually using its massive body to block the collapsing embankment.

The three stared at the bizarre scene, speechless for a long time.

But this was just the beginning.
