Attending the Wedding Ceremony Together

1/4/2026

Charles Yin held the phone, unable to hide the joy in his eyes, and chuckled softly. "Mm, work can wait for now. Cecilia, come with me somewhere tomorrow."

"Huh? Where are we going?" Cecilia Gu responded in confusion.

Charles seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood today.

"We're going to Kingston for a friend's wedding. The invitation just arrived, and it says to bring family." Charles laughed. "They heard you're pregnant and insisted you come, saying they want to share in your happiness."

Cecilia reached out to touch her belly, a serene smile spreading across her face.

After thinking for a moment, Cecilia said, "But my mom still..."

Before Cecilia could finish, Jane Gu, sitting nearby, quickly said, "I've been out for two days already, it's time for me to go home. I haven't even asked for leave from work! I was just worried about you and forgot everything else. And the cats and dogs at home—no one's taking care of them. If you have things to do, go with Charles. Don't worry about me, I'm still young, I can take care of myself!"

Charles overheard Jane and grew even more satisfied with his mother-in-law.

"Since Mom has things to handle at home, I'll have someone drive her back," Charles said. "The wedding is the day after tomorrow. We'll leave tomorrow and arrive a day early."

Seeing her mother eager to return home, Cecilia nodded and said over the phone, "Alright, then we'll head back a bit later tonight. I'll pack some extra things for Mom."

"Okay. Call me when you're ready, and I'll pick you up," Charles replied, hanging up, clearly satisfied.

His gaze fell once more on the wedding invitation lying on the table.

The gold-embossed letters instantly softened his expression.

"That old guy is finally getting married!" Charles muttered to himself. "If he waited any longer, I doubt any good woman would marry him!"

Charles pulled out a sweet wedding photo of the couple from the invitation, his smile growing wider.

Since Mom would be leaving tomorrow, Cecilia spent the whole afternoon frantically shopping for her.

Anything she thought her mom could use at home, Cecilia bought it all.

Jane kept shouting from behind, "Stop buying! We already have everything at home!"

But Cecilia didn't listen at all—she just kept swiping her card and signing receipts!

No matter what, she just wanted to treat her mom well and give her the very best!

Now that she was a mother herself, she understood her mom's feelings even more.

You really don't appreciate your parents until you have kids of your own!

This time, Cecilia bought a whole truckload of things for Jane.

When the two of them got home, they nearly startled the butler!

The butler was shocked—Mrs. Yin never goes shopping. Did the sun rise in the west today?

Cecilia spent a lot, but she was thrilled. As soon as she walked in, she announced, "I spent all my money this time! Even next month's allowance is gone! I finally know what crazy shopping feels like."

Jane wore a helpless smile, but her eyes were full of gratitude.

With a daughter like this, what more could you ask for?

Aunt Zhang greeted them with a smile. "Mrs. Yin, you're back. Did Mrs. Jane enjoy herself today?"

"Aunt Zhang, I'm exhausted!" Cecilia pouted.

Jane replied politely, "I had a great time, thank you all so much."

The maid brought glasses of milk for both Cecilia and Jane.

After finishing her milk, Cecilia collapsed on the sofa and didn't move.

At that moment, Charles came downstairs, saying as he walked, "If you were so tired, why didn't you let me pick you up?"

Cecilia blinked and replied a little sheepishly, "I was afraid you'd call me a spendthrift..."

Charles grinned, walked over to Cecilia, and gently stroked her hair. "You only spent a little. Don't worry—even if you spend like this for a lifetime, I can afford it."

Seeing how close her daughter and son-in-law were, Jane felt truly comforted.

Even if she never came back to N City, she could rest easy now.

Charles sat down beside Cecilia, took off his watch, tossed it aside, and started massaging her shoulders.

Cecilia stiffened slightly, then twisted away a bit. She still wasn't used to Charles being so affectionate.

Charles... What is he doing...?

"Don't move," Charles said, pressing down on Cecilia's shoulders to keep her still. "You've walked so much today. If you don't relax, tomorrow will be tough."

His long, slender fingers were perfect in every detail.

The slightly calloused pads of his fingers gently massaged Cecilia's acupoints, making her feel so comfortable she almost wanted to moan.

Of course, Jane didn't want to play third wheel, so she found an excuse and left.

Now that they were alone, Charles's fingers pressed even harder.

Cecilia was so comfortable under Charles's care that she let out a soft moan.

Hearing Cecilia's moan, Charles's eyes instantly darkened.

His thin lips brushed close to Cecilia's ear as he whispered, "Are you inviting me, darling?"

Cecilia was just enjoying herself when Charles suddenly leaned in, breathed softly in her ear, and said something so suggestive.

She instinctively turned her head and felt her earlobe brush against his lips.

A jolt of electricity shot through her whole body from her ear!

Charles watched with a half-smile as Cecilia's ears turned from pink to bright red.

"Wh-what are you saying...? Mom's still here..." Cecilia stammered, flustered.

She looked up and saw Charles's handsome face so close to hers—almost touching her nose...

Every time she looked at Charles, Cecilia felt like fate was seriously biased!

As a man, not only did he have features more delicate than most women, but his skin was so flawless it made everyone jealous.

"So, you mean as long as Mom's not here, it's fine?" Charles smirked, his eyes locked on Cecilia's increasingly red face. He leaned in even closer, so close she could see every pore. "Are you trying to measure me again, darling?"

Boom... Cecilia felt like her brain had crashed, all her thoughts scrambled.

The last bit of memory she had told her: Charles was teasing her!

Charles leaned in even closer, and Cecilia, startled, backed away a little.

Charles kept moving forward, and Cecilia kept retreating.

One moved forward, the other stepped back...

Cecilia kept backing up until...

Suddenly, a big hand appeared behind her waist, holding her firmly.

She couldn't retreat any further and could only watch as Charles on the living room sofa got closer and closer...

Cecilia's eyelashes trembled, and she shut her eyes, ready to meet Charles's impending kiss.

One second passed, two seconds, five seconds, ten seconds, thirty seconds, a whole minute...

Why hadn't the kiss landed yet?

Confused, Cecilia opened her eyes and saw Charles looking at her with clear, bright eyes.

The mischievous smile on his lips snapped Cecilia back to reality!

Jerk, he did it on purpose!

"So impatient for me to kiss you, darling?" Charles's smirk grew, his eyes full of teasing.

Cecilia was dying of embarrassment inside!

Was she out of her mind?

She actually found herself looking forward to his kiss!

"You're the one who wants it!" Cecilia retorted, furious and embarrassed, reaching out to push Charles away.

But his arm was like iron—she couldn't budge him at all.

"Let go of me!... Mmm..." Cecilia tried to pound on Charles's chest, but after only a couple of hits, he kissed her hard.

"That's right, I really do want to kiss you..." Charles whispered, then kissed Cecilia deeply.

Cecilia's hands, which had been pounding his chest, suddenly froze. She couldn't help but grab his shirt, her body completely under his control, helplessly surrendering to his passionate and domineering kiss.

Charles... What are you really after...?

Are you truly ready to give me all this tenderness?

Will you really never regret it?

The next morning, as soon as it was light, Cecilia got up to help Jane pack.

The car had already been waiting outside for a while.

Not only did Charles send a car for Jane, he also sent a small truck just to carry all the appliances and clothes Cecilia had bought.

Standing at the door to see Jane off, Cecilia teared up. "Mom, I'll come visit you in a few days!"

"Take good care of yourself, no need to come see me! I'll visit when the baby is born!" Jane kept waving. "Cecilia, take care of yourself! Live well with Charles!"

"I know, Mom!" Cecilia choked out. "Call me when you get home!"

"Got it, got it! Go on now!" Jane waved goodbye.

Charles stood beside Cecilia, smiling as he watched Jane leave.

Cecilia watched until the convoy was out of sight.

Charles gently put his arm around Cecilia's shoulders. "It's alright. N City isn't far from your hometown. You can visit often."

Cecilia sniffled, "Mm."

Seeing Cecilia's red eyes, Charles's heart softened again.

Staying by this little mole's side wasn't so bad, after all.

Three hours later, with the help of Assistant Xiao Wang, Cecilia slowly descended from the plane's staircase.

Even now, Cecilia felt like she was dreaming.

Charles actually took her on a private jet straight to K City. Not only that, he brought three sports cars on board!

It was almost ridiculously luxurious!

Still, she had to admit, traveling this way was really convenient and comfortable.

After all, K City was a thousand miles from N City.

As soon as she got off the plane, Cecilia could feel how different the climate was in K City.

It was already late autumn in N City, with temperatures so low that you needed thick clothes morning and night.

But in K City, it was still as warm as spring.
