Lydia Lin's Fake Medical Record

1/4/2026

She started sending messages nonstop, crying to Cecilia Gu that she couldn't live without Charles Yin.

She even sent over a few hospital reports.

At first, Rona Muir didn't bother to look at these messages, but Cecilia Gu's phone was set so that all messages popped up automatically.

Just picturing Lydia Lin clinging to Cecilia Gu, crying and begging her to give up Charles Yin, made Rona Muir want to do something.

Suddenly, a photo caught Rona Muir's attention.

Rona Muir didn't care if it was appropriate to peek at someone else's messages—she zoomed right in on the picture.

Rona Muir read Lydia Lin's reply and felt utterly speechless.

Turns out, it was an old acquaintance!

Rona Muir fired off a reply: "Nope, I explained everything! But Charles said you made a mistake before, and he can't forgive you so easily, so he wants to test you a bit more. If you really love Charles, you should keep trying. Oh, and one more thing—he'll be at boxing practice this afternoon, and except for his assistant, he won't bring anyone else."

Rona Muir had known Charles Yin for years, so of course she knew some of his routines.

Rona Muir gave him the exact date.

Dr. Joseph replied right away: "Oh yes, I did admit a patient with a brain tumor. She's pretty old, so surgery wouldn't do much good, so we recommended conservative treatment. Why are you asking about this all of a sudden?"

After sending the message, Rona Muir immediately turned off the phone.

Soon, Dr. Joseph called back, practically jumping with outrage: "Damn it! Damn it! Who's slandering me? Just because I'm here in China for academic exchange, they think they can smear my name!"

Hahaha...

Lydia Lin probably never expected this, did she?

Rona Muir came out of the kitchen with a glass of juice and said to Cecilia Gu, "Since you're awake, you should get up, or you won't be able to sleep tonight."

Only truly complicated cases ever cross his desk.

"Just about an hour." Rona Muir set the juice on the nightstand. "Drink some juice. Charles Yin had his assistant send over fresh fruit and a juicer. He told me to bring it to you when you woke up."

This was obviously a fake medical certificate, cobbled together from bits and pieces!

The medical certificate looked pretty real—unless you were a professional, you'd never notice anything wrong!

If Lydia Lin hadn't randomly put Dr. Joseph's name as the attending physician, and if Rona Muir hadn't happened to know him, she would have been completely fooled!

So if the medical record is fake, then Lydia Lin's claim that she has a brain tumor and only one month to live must be fake too?

Just picturing Lydia Lin clinging to Cecilia Gu, crying and begging her to give up Charles Yin, made Nora Mu want to do something.

Rona Muir's eyes flashed, and she used Cecilia Gu's phone to reply to Lydia Lin: "Didn't you say you were getting chemo today? How do you have time to call?"

Nora Mu read Lydia Lin's reply and felt utterly speechless.

Let that big dummy Cecilia Gu sleep a little longer.

She turned it on and dozed a bit more.

Nora Mu came out of the kitchen with a glass of juice and said to Cecilia Gu, "Since you're awake, you should get up, or you won't be able to sleep tonight."

Rona Muir sighed. Why was it that such a simple thing was so hard for her to figure out?

If Charles Yin only cared about the child, then why would he...

Forget it, forget it.

Let her figure it out on her own.

After drinking the juice, Cecilia Gu suddenly asked, "Wait, how did Charles Yin know I was here with you?"

Rona Muir sighed again, clearly exasperated. "You finally caught on. Charles Yin asked me to tell you, if you skip work this afternoon, it's considered absenteeism."

Pfft...

She nearly spat out her juice!

Absenteeism!

Charles Yin, you're ruthless!

Cecilia Gu strapped on her watch, raked her fingers through her hair, and said to Rona Muir, "Sorry, but I'll need you to drive me to the office! That guy is so stingy! Docking my pay! Ugh, I'm getting mad just thinking about it!"

Rona Muir couldn't help but laugh at Cecilia Gu's serious face, so she grabbed her car keys and drove Cecilia to the office.

As soon as Cecilia Gu walked through the company doors, Assistant A was already waiting for her at the entrance.

"Why are you here?" Cecilia Gu asked, puzzled. "Where's Charles Yin? I'm here to work! This shouldn't count as absenteeism, right?"

"Yes, Team Leader," Assistant A replied quickly. "The CEO told me to wait for you here and said once you arrive, please go straight to the conference room to get ready."

"Ready for what?" Cecilia Gu asked as she walked with Assistant A. "Is it about the Mo Family partnership?"

"You'll find out when you get there," Assistant A replied with a smile.

Cecilia Gu nodded. As the assistant team leader, she was supposed to help out during CEO meetings anyway!

So really, there was nothing to fuss about!

She was past the morning sickness phase now, and her belly was starting to show. If she didn't work hard to earn money, she might not have many chances left!

She still needed to save up for her mom’s retirement!

With her mind made up, Cecilia Gu took the elevator straight to the conference room.

When she pushed open the conference room door, Cecilia had expected it to be packed, but instead it was just Charles Yin sitting there alone in the huge room.

Uh... what was going on here?

Charles Yin sat there, looking devilishly composed, propping his chin with one hand, his eyes glinting as he gazed at Cecilia. Clearly, he’d been waiting for her.

Cecilia felt a little awkward and said, "I... I was at Rona's place and suddenly got sleepy, so I took a nap..."

"I know," Charles replied, his masculine voice sounding especially pleasant. "That’s why I had Rona Muir tell you—if you don’t come to work this afternoon, it counts as absenteeism. According to the Yin Corporation’s rules, absenteeism means your monthly bonus gets docked."

"Whatever, I don’t get much of a bonus anyway..." Cecilia muttered.

Back when she worked in logistics, all the bonuses went to other people—she only got the smallest cut.

Charles seemed to see right through her worries and said leisurely, "This month you managed two big things: you landed the Korea partnership and got Mo Zixin to sign the deal. Just those two bonuses alone are a pretty hefty sum!"

Cecilia, who’d been acting like she didn’t care, instantly perked up at the mention of big money, her eyes shining with hope as she looked at Charles.

Charles wasn’t surprised to see Cecilia’s face light up so suddenly.

It was so strange, almost uncanny.

She looked so plain, but for some reason he found her so easy on the eyes.

Charles pointed to a seat not far from him and nodded at Cecilia.

Cecilia hesitated, then quickly sat down in the seat Charles had indicated and asked carefully, "So how much is my bonus this month? I came to work this afternoon, so it doesn’t count as absenteeism, right?"

"Are you really that short on cash?" Charles raised an eyebrow at Cecilia. "You don’t seem to spend much. Didn’t I give you a credit card? Unlimited limit!"

Cecilia was focused on the bonus and blurted out, "Of course I need money! My belly is starting to show. I probably won’t be able to work much longer. If I don’t come to work, I won’t have any income. When I leave here someday, how am I supposed to start over without enough money?"

Charles had been smiling at first, but as he listened, his smile slowly faded. By the time he heard her last sentence, the smile was completely gone, and his eyes were icy cold.

But Cecilia, with her head down, didn’t notice the change in Charles’s expression. She kept talking: "Mom hasn’t saved a penny for herself all these years. While I can still work, I want to save up as much as I can for her. If I can’t find another high-paying job in the future, at least Mom will have a backup plan."

"Do you really want to leave me that badly?" Charles Yin's anger was on the verge of exploding.

Why?

Why is it that after everything he's done for her, she still wants to leave?

He's never put so much effort into a woman before!

Never!

Cecilia Gu looked up and saw that Charles Yin was angry again.

Cecilia felt lost inside. How did they end up back at square one?

Back when they first got married, he was like this—always getting angry for reasons she couldn't understand.

Cecilia thought, maybe he's asking because he's afraid I'll cling to him and never leave the Yin family?

How could I?

No matter how poor or desperate I am, I'd never do something like that.

"This was our agreement, wasn't it?" Cecilia looked calmly at Charles Yin. "I'll stick to our deal."

Hearing Cecilia's answer, Charles Yin couldn't control his anger any longer.

He stood up and kicked the chair by his feet, sending it flying!

Bang—a loud crash, and the chair instantly shattered into pieces!
