I’ll Fight You to the Death
"It really has been refined. It's gone." Jenna Summers took out a storage pouch and handed it to Lucia Lu. "I gathered up all the remaining pill-essence at the time—it's all in here."
Even carrying this, I was afraid my heartfire would flare up again.
Lucia Lu opened the pouch and saw that it truly was scattered pill-essence. She glanced sympathetically at Ian Yan.
Ryan Lu also took a look and asked, "Was this refined using the Starfire Furnace?"
Only the Starfire Furnace has that kind of power.
It directly refined Ian Yan's ten-thousand-year Yin Core into pill-essence that could be absorbed by medicine.
The Starfire Furnace originally belonged to Holy Lord Grace Summers, but was later stored in the Southern Realm.
Jenna Summers nodded.
Ryan Lu sighed, "To make that medicine, any ordinary pill furnace would have sufficed. Once the medicine was made, the Yin Core should've still been intact. But now..."
Hearing this, Ian Yan took the storage pouch and looked inside. Instantly, he felt utterly devastated.
His eyes reddened, gaze fierce. Suddenly, he whipped out a cold, heavy butcher's cleaver and charged straight at Jenna Summers: "I'm going to fight you to the death!"
Jenna Summers dodged frantically.
"Ian Yan." Sean Shaw stopped him. "I have a way to restore your Yin Core."
"It's all been refined—how could it possibly be restored?" Not only Ian Yan, but everyone else was skeptical.
"It's worth a try," said Sean Shaw. "Come on, let's go to my place."
Ian Yan nodded.
The others followed along.
"Hey! Fifth Highness!" Jenna Summers blocked his path. "You promised to settle this privately! You must guarantee you won't spread this around!"
Sean Shaw's eyes turned cold. "Divine Lady Jenna, I believe your concern shouldn't be about public or private settlements right now. You'd better pray Ian Yan's Yin Core can be restored. Otherwise, even if it's handled privately, you might not survive Lord Hades's wrath."
Jenna Summers's face went pale.
Sean Shaw led the group out, heading toward his residence—Divine General Quarters No. 16.
Halfway there, Ian Yan asked in a low voice, "Fifth Highness, I don't have her hair, do I? Wasn't that hair not hers?"
Everyone stared at Sean Shaw in surprise.
Was the hair that made Jenna Summers confess actually fake?
"It was hers," said Sean Shaw. "She's from the Summers Clan. If she wants to know whether it's her own hair, she can use an Ancestral Locator Spell to check with her bloodline."
"Then where did you get the hair?" Lucia Lu asked, puzzled.
"She got close to me, so I just plucked one off her head," said Sean Shaw.
"Ha!" Lucia Lu pointed at him. "You're so... clever!"
Sean Shaw said nothing.
Ryan Lu suddenly let out a laugh.
Lucia Lu asked, "What are you laughing at?"
"I'm laughing... If those Divine Ladies ever find out about this, no one will dare fake a 'heart attack' in front of Fifth Highness again!"
Ryan Lu pictured Sean Shaw yanking out someone's hair while they were play-acting frailty, and just couldn't help laughing.
Sean Shaw glanced at her, remaining silent.
......
Sean Shaw's quarters were laid out just like everyone else's.
He had everyone wait in the parlor, then took the storage pouch with the pill-essence from Ian Yan and went alone to his study.
"Hey? Fifth Highness, how are you planning to restore the Yin Core? Aren't you going to let us watch?" Lucia Lu asked.
Sean Shaw shook his head and said, "Just wait here a moment," then continued toward the study.
But after a few steps, he stopped, turned back to Ryan Lu and said, "Divine Lady Ryan, could you come help me for a moment?"
Ryan Lu: "Sure."
She followed Sean Shaw inside.
After the two left, Lucia Lu glanced at the anxious Ian Yan and asked, "Brother Yan, there's something I don't quite understand. Could you clear it up for me?"
