Hatred (4)

12/2/2025

Morgan Shangguan closed her eyes slightly and smiled, "Isn't the Prince unable to... perform?"

Damien Gray raised an eyebrow, "Isn't my Princess Consort the one who knows best whether I am able or not?"

Suddenly, Morgan reached out and cupped his face, gazing at him for a while before sighing, "Actually, you're not bad at all!" Even when Damien Gray looked weak and sickly, he was hardly lacking. Why did those women make her sound so pitiful?

Damien Gray raised an eyebrow and smiled lightly. Morgan Shangguan stopped overthinking and leaned in to kiss his lips.

Ethan Gu kept a straight face as he served as the coachman. At this moment, he wished his ears weren't so sensitive. Suddenly, a figure flashed by and another person appeared beside him. Ethan Gu finally breathed a sigh of relief—maybe suffering with someone else made his heart feel more balanced!

Maxwell Jing saw Ethan Gu's relieved expression and was about to ask what was wrong when he suddenly heard muffled, intimate sounds coming from the carriage. He instantly understood, and a grin spread across his face. Ethan Gu squinted at him, eyes full of warning—if he dared to laugh, Ethan would definitely kick him out!

Maxwell Jing raised his hands in surrender, but his face was still full of amusement. Ethan Gu, annoyed, shoved the reins into Maxwell's hands and closed his eyes to rest. Maxwell Jing raised his brows and could only resign himself to being the coachman.

As soon as they returned to the Ghost King's Manor, someone rushed over to report: "Liam Duanmu has run away!"

Maxwell Jing asked, "What did he take with him?"

The man replied respectfully, "He only took the account books for the privately raised soldiers. Nothing else was found missing!"

Damien Gray said nothing and simply wrapped his arms around Morgan Shangguan, leading her straight back to their room in the Ghost King's Manor.

Inside the room, Morgan Shangguan sat on a stool and asked, "Was that account book a fake?"

Seeing Damien Gray nod, Morgan propped her head thoughtfully. Since Liam Duanmu believed it was real, it must have been hidden well and made convincingly. When it came to playing with people's hearts, Liam Duanmu was no match for Damien Gray.

Susie Yun saw Mona Shangguan and felt the same aversion she had for Claire Yi; no matter how she tried, she just couldn't warm to her. Watching Mona keep knocking, Susie couldn't help but say, "Stop knocking! If you keep it up, you'll break the door. Your brother-in-law is in there too!"

Damien Gray laughed, "This trouble was brought by my Princess Consort. Shouldn't you offer some apology?"

He actually didn't care. Even if Prince Ethan was more wary of him, so what? At such a sensitive time, Ethan would never act rashly. If he did and accidentally ruined Emperor Alexander's plans, he'd risk angering the emperor and pay a heavy price!

Susie Yun pouted, "I'm just speaking the truth! The Ghost King's temper isn't exactly mild—if you keep knocking, who knows who'll end up suffering for it? I'm just trying to help you out!"

Morgan looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, "What else do you want?"

Damien Gray suddenly scooped her up and walked toward the bed, saying, "Adrian Yarrow is still waiting to test you! The coming days will be busy, so while we have some free time, let's..." His words faded into the kiss they shared.

Early the next morning, guests arrived at the Ghost King's Manor—quite a crowd, in fact: Adrian Yarrow, Mona Shangguan, Sophie Qiu, Crown Prince Adrian, Prince Ethan, even Liam Duanmu who had just fled the Ghost King's Manor, and Quentin Hua joined the bustle. Their purpose was clear: to invite Damien Gray and Morgan Shangguan for a lakeside outing.

Damien Gray looked at the person still sleeping sweetly in his arms and said calmly, "We're back."

Outside the door, Maxwell Jing turned to decline the invitation, but Yun Su pouted—she actually wanted to join the fun! Seeing her expression, Ouyang Lin said gently, "If you want to go, we can go by ourselves."

Before Yun Su could say anything, a familiar, affectionate voice called out, "Sister..."

Mona Shangguan actually ran straight to the Nether Court, with Sophie Qiu following close behind. Maxwell Jing glanced at Ethan Gu, who was coming in as well, and asked with his eyes, "How did you let them in?"

Ethan Gu shrugged helplessly—Mona Shangguan was really a handful! And with so many people around, he couldn't just stop her by force.

Not only did the two women come in, but several men followed them, swaying in after. It seemed they were determined to get Damien Gray and Morgan Shangguan out, whatever their individual motives—their goal was the same!

Damien Gray's face darkened. Seeing the person in his arms open her eyes, he sighed, kissed her on the lips, and said, "Looks like there's no peace for us now!"

Quentin Hua stood off to the side, showing no intimacy with Ethan Gu or Maxwell Jing. Though he wore a plain mask, his lazy demeanor was oddly captivating. Liam Duanmu had changed his mask and now stared at the tightly closed door, lost in thought.

Prince Ethan looked as composed as ever, as if he hadn't received the fake account book at all. Crown Prince Adrian seemed a bit impatient, while Adrian Yarrow kept his gentle, watery smile, though his eyes were deep and unreadable.

Mona Shangguan walked to the door and knocked. "Sister, hurry up! We're going to the lake!" Her tone could fool anyone into thinking she and Morgan Shangguan were loving sisters, but the look in her eyes—hidden from the crowd—clearly carried a hint of malice.

Sophie Qiu stood quietly, seeming unconcerned about whether the people inside would come out. She occasionally glanced at Adrian Yarrow with a look full of affection, stirring hearts.

"Sister..." Mona Shangguan kept knocking on the door relentlessly.

Yun Su saw Mona Shangguan and felt the same dislike she had for Yi Qing'er; she just couldn't warm up to her. Watching Mona keep knocking, Yun Su couldn't help but say, "Stop knocking! If you keep it up, you'll break the door. Your brother-in-law is in there too!"

"Haha..." The one laughing so exaggeratedly was Quentin Hua, who chimed in, "Exactly! Who knows, maybe they're being affectionate right now! If you break the door, everyone will see!"

Mona Shangguan's face couldn't hide her embarrassment. She turned to Yun Su and scolded her sternly, "How dare you!"

Yun Su pouted, "I'm just telling the truth! The Ghost King's temper isn't good—if you keep knocking, who knows who'll suffer! I'm just trying to help!"
