Simon Xu put on an air of great magnanimity.
Everyone's eyes were fixed on Evan Lin in the distance.
Director David Chen frowned, mulling over how he should speak in a moment.
"That kid has always been a troublemaker. I heard he chased after a lot of girls in school, but not a single one liked him. Because of that, he barely had any friends in junior high."
But who would've thought, that kid just didn't know his place! He actually wanted to date our Chloe! Back then, his grades were at the bottom of the class, and he wasn't good-looking either. Yet after Chloe clearly rejected him, he started spreading rumors at school about them dating. What a vicious little punk!
As soon as Kevin finished, Lisa Liu immediately picked up the thread: "Exactly! If I hadn't noticed Chloe coming home gloomy every day and asked a few questions, we might never have found out about this."
"Chloe is kind-hearted. Even when she was bullied, she just kept it to herself! Later, her dad and I couldn't stand it anymore, so we went to the school. We actually wanted him expelled, but seeing how pitiful he and his mom looked, we softened up and didn't push too hard. Looking back, we were way too soft-hearted back then!"
Lisa and Kevin kept up their act, echoing each other perfectly.
Hearing this, Director David Chen, who had originally wanted to stand up for Evan Lin, frowned deeply. "Is that really how it went?"
"So scheming at such a young age—kids like that really need to be taught a lesson!"
After Director Chen finished speaking, everyone once again looked off into the distance.
Chloe stepped forward, glaring at Evan Lin, her eyes blazing with anger. "I used to think you were a kind-hearted guy! But now I see I was completely blind!"
But—
One minute.
Two minutes.
Evan raised an eyebrow and looked at Chloe, his voice icy: "Chloe, don’t act shameless when I’m giving you a chance."
Time ticked by, second after second.
In their eyes, the young man kept walking toward them at a steady pace, but somehow the distance between them never seemed to change.
Yet he was definitely coming closer, step by step.
The scorching sun had Director Chen and the others drenched in sweat.
The swagger they'd had when they first walked out the door was quickly burned away by the relentless sunshine.
"Why isn't he here yet? Is he really walking that slow?"
Susan Xu's face was turning red—this kind of blazing sun was really roasting.
Many people inside the Whitewood Grand Hotel were looking outside.
At first, they thought Director Chen and his group looked pretty impressive.
But now, seeing them standing out in the sun, most people just thought they must be out of their minds.
After a long while—
They finally saw the teenager walk up to them.
Evan Lin looked completely relaxed—the blazing sun overhead had no effect on him at all.
"You're the one who hit my son!"
Susan Xu shrieked.
She was already in a bad mood, and after being roasted by the sun, she was even more irritable.
Seeing Evan Lin walk right up, she lunged forward, reaching out to grab him by the collar.
Evan just shifted his body slightly, not even lifting a finger, and Susan Xu, off balance, tumbled straight to the ground.
"If I actually hit your son, it’d just dirty my hands. He knows perfectly well who beat him."
Evan looked down at Susan Xu sprawled on the ground, his face completely indifferent.
Susan Xu had taken a nasty fall, landing face-first on the scorching pavement. The pain made her gasp.
"Mom!"
Max Xu rushed over and helped her up.
He turned and glared at Evan Lin. "You actually dared to lay a hand on my mom!"
"She fell on her own. That counts as my fault too?"
Evan snorted, then swept his gaze around, locking eyes with each person in front of him.
"Kevin Cheng, Lisa Liu, your family’s life seems pretty comfortable. Looks like the last lesson I gave you wasn’t enough, huh?"
Evan spoke coldly.
That indifferent look in Evan’s eyes made Kevin Cheng and Lisa Liu shudder instinctively.
They’d never forget the day at Mooncrest Manor when Evan Lin alone knocked them both to the ground with just a few punches and kicks.
That shameful scene was easily the biggest stain on their entire lives.
"You—!"
Kevin Cheng and Lisa Liu’s faces turned bright red at his words.
"Don’t go too far!"
Chloe Cheng stepped forward, glaring at Evan Lin, her eyes full of anger. "I used to think you were a kind-hearted guy! But now I see I was completely wrong about you!"
She shouted loudly.
In truth, what Chloe really couldn't accept was that the once-weak Evan Lin had now become so powerful and assertive.
"Well, I’m truly honored to have you judge me so wrongly."
Evan raised an eyebrow and looked at Chloe, his voice icy: "Chloe, don’t mistake my kindness for weakness."
"Back in junior high, I once considered you my best friend. But when you got caught dating another guy in ninth grade and used me as your scapegoat, you lost all respect in my eyes."
"To me now, you’re not even worth a fart. And you have the nerve to come out here acting all high and mighty—are you out of your mind, or do you really think you’re some kind of princess?"
Evan’s blunt words left Chloe utterly speechless.
"What a sharp-tongued brat!"
Simon Xu, who hadn’t spoken until now, looked grim. His gaze shifted from Susan Xu to Evan Lin. "Whatever happened between you and Chloe isn’t my concern, but you hit my son, and now you’ve made my wife fall—how are we settling this?"
Simon Xu barked out the words harshly.
He was from River City, earning millions a year, and naturally didn’t see a county kid like Evan Lin as worth his time.
"Are you deaf or just blind?"
Evan’s tone was full of disdain: "Your wife tried to hit me and fell on her own. She got what she deserved."
"As for your son, ask him yourself—was it really me who hit him?"
No sooner had Evan finished speaking—
Behind him, Max Xu’s face kept changing color. "You really didn’t hit me! But you told that fat guy to do it!"
"Then why don’t you call that fat guy over right now!"
Max Xu kept yelling.
Lisa Liu turned to Director Chen. "Even if he didn’t do it himself, he ordered someone else to—so it’s just as bad!"
"Why don’t we just arrest him first!"
Lisa Liu was so furious at Evan Lin that she was practically gnashing her teeth.
But she didn’t dare step forward and slap Evan Lin herself.
"Stop trying to argue! If you’re so tough, call your mom and that fat guy here—make them apologize and pay for the medical bills! Otherwise, you’re going to pay for this!"
Chloe’s pretty face twisted with anger.
She couldn’t stand Evan Lin’s indifferent attitude.
"Forget calling my mom—I wouldn’t want to dirty her eyes with this scene."
Evan Lin shook his head. "As for the issue of who hit him—"
"That fat guy will be here soon. He’s the one who hit your son."
"But..."
Evan paused for effect.
Everyone’s eyes focused on Evan Lin.
Director Chen was still hesitating, unsure how to handle things.
Simon Xu and the others were starting to feel uneasy, especially Max Xu, who saw Evan Lin suddenly turn.
"What are you doing?!"
Max Xu had barely finished speaking—
Bang!
A heavy thud echoed.
In everyone’s eyes—
The teenager spun and delivered a side kick.
With one kick, Max Xu went flying, landing a long way off.
At first glance, it looked like he flew at least ten meters!
