Final Day of the Auction

1/19/2026

Evan Chu moved carefully the whole way back. The Frostbane Sword mess was finally over—at least for now—but the danger hanging over his head was nowhere near solved. He had to get out of here, fast.

Thankfully, nothing else happened on the road. Still, Selena’s casual backhand nearly made him cough up blood, and the humiliation left him fuming. Since when had he become so pathetic? Dodging everyone he met, with even random passersby stronger than him?

His craving for power was getting worse by the minute. When he finally made it back to VIP Room Three, Lynn was already gone, leaving only Gavin Wei waiting inside.

“Evan, why do you look so pale? What happened out there?” Gavin Wei asked, worry written all over his face.

“It’s nothing. The wind outside was strong and I walked too fast, that’s all. I need to cultivate for a bit, so don’t bother me. Once the auction’s over tomorrow, we’re heading straight to the Royal Capital.” Evan replied.

Without another word, Evan ignored Gavin’s reaction, pulled out a handful of Starstones from his storage ring, and started absorbing their energy.

Stellar force surged into his dantian in no time. Evan circulated it through his body, but his chest still throbbed faintly from Selena’s earlier strike—proof of just how terrifying her strength was.

Who knew how long passed before the pain finally faded away? Evan took the chance to ask Luna, the sword spirit, “Hey Luna, why did Selena’s blood make Frostbane glow like that?”

After a moment, Luna answered, “I was starting to think you’d never ask. Selena’s blood is true demonic blood—it clashes with the seal on Frostbane. But inside Frostbane is a sealed remnant soul, a demon so powerful it’s scary. And Selena? She’s actually that demon’s child. Their bloodlines resonated, so the sword lit up and you heard its voice.”

“Wait, doesn’t that make Selena some kind of ten-thousand-year-old monster?” Evan blurted out.
