Strange Events and Strange People

Miracles really do happen. The abscesses on the young woman's face gradually faded, a faint glow appeared on her skin, and after a while her face returned to normal—revealing her as a true beauty. As for Xiao Li, he was completely stunned. All these years, he'd worked tirelessly to cure her poison, but today, a stranger managed to save her.

Xiao Li sneaked a glance at the young woman beside him, as if afraid she'd find out. The young woman looked at Yang Han, then at Xiao Li, and asked, "Xiao Li, is there something you can't say?"

"Herb Haven," Xiao Li said. As soon as he spoke, the young woman exclaimed, "What? You went there? Do you know how dangerous Herb Haven is? Didn't I tell you before not to go there?"

"That's right, your poison has been completely removed," Yang Han said with a smile.

The young woman quickly climbed out of bed and, together with Xiao Li, bowed to Yang Han in gratitude. Seeing the two, Yang Han smiled, "It's just a small matter, don't worry about it."

"Herb Haven is where some of the sect's experts grow rare herbs. To keep people out, they raise all sorts of strange pets there. These pets will attack strangers on sight. I was lucky—the first time I went, the pets weren't around, so I managed to pick some rare herbs on the outskirts," Xiao Li explained.

"Actually, there is something I might need your help with, but not right now," Yang Han replied.

"Oh? Well, just let me know anytime," Xiao Li said. The young woman added, "Me too."

"By the way, I wanted to ask—where did you get those herbs you traded earlier?" Yang Han asked.

Hearing Yang Han ask this, Xiao Li hesitated and stammered, "Uh, well..."

"Xiao Li, what's wrong? Is there something you can't say?" Yang Han asked curiously.

Xiao Li sneaked a glance at the young woman next to him, as if afraid she'd find out. The young woman looked at Yang Han, then at Xiao Li, and asked, "Xiao Li, is there something you can't say?"

"Herb Haven," Xiao Li said. As soon as he spoke, the young woman exclaimed, "What? You went there? Do you know how dangerous that place is? Didn't I tell you before not to go there?"

"Junior-sister, I only went there to find some rare medicinal herbs to trade for pills to cure you," Xiao Li said awkwardly, lowering his head.

The young woman understood, her eyes turning red at the corners. If not for her, Xiao Li wouldn't have had to go through so much trouble. Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Yang Han smiled and said, "Alright, it's fine now. Just tell me where Herb Haven is and what kind of place it is."

"Herb Haven is where some of the sect's experts grow rare herbs, but to keep people out, they raise all sorts of strange pets there. These pets will attack strangers on sight. I was lucky—the first time I went, the pets weren't around, so I managed to pick some rare herbs on the outskirts," Xiao Li explained.

"So that's how it is. Where exactly is this Herb Haven?" Yang Han asked.

"There's a stone stele in the back mountains with 'Herb Haven' written on it, and it's surrounded by tall trees forming a ring," Xiao Li replied.

Yang Han finally understood and nodded. "Got it, thanks."

"You're welcome, Senior. But why are you asking about this?" Xiao Li asked curiously.

"I also want some rare medicinal herbs, so I thought I'd take a look," Yang Han said with a smile.

"How about I go instead? My life basically belongs to you now, Senior," Xiao Li said, immediately stepping forward. Yang Han was grateful, but the young woman was worried and didn't stop them, since Yang Han was her benefactor.

Seeing their expressions, Yang Han smiled, "No need, I'm not going right now—just considering it for the future."

Xiao Li gave an awkward laugh. "If you ever go, be sure to find me. I'll help you gather herbs."

"Got it, thanks," Yang Han said with a smile.

At that moment, a voice sounded from outside: "Xiao Li, are you there?"

"Do you have a visitor?" Yang Han asked.

"No, it's just a friend. He came here like us to learn alchemy, but he was lucky and got accepted as a disciple by some people in the sect, so he gets taught every day. Still, he's kind and often comes out to teach us pill refining," Xiao Li explained.

Hearing this, Yang Han realized their pill refining was taught by this outsider, so any mishaps must be connected to him.

So Yang Han quietly stayed inside, letting Xiao Li greet the visitor while he observed the situation.

Xiao Li opened the door, and a young man walked in. Seeing someone else inside, he smiled, "Oh? You have company?"

"Yeah, he's an amazing senior of mine," Xiao Li said with a smile.

"Oh? I've never heard of him," the young man replied, smiling. But when he saw the young woman's face had recovered, he was visibly shocked. That expression made Yang Han feel something was off—this man was definitely connected to her poisoning.

"I just arrived too," Yang Han said with a smile.

The young man nodded, then looked at the young woman and asked, "You're better now?"

"Senior Brother Murrow, I'm fine now. It's all thanks to this senior—otherwise, I'd still be hiding under the covers, too embarrassed to see anyone," the young woman said with a smile.

Realizing it was Yang Han who cured her, the young man looked at Yang Han, his eyes lingering with some intent. After a moment, his expression shifted, and he smiled, "May I ask your name, Senior? To have such skill is impressive."

"I'm Mu Yi—not really a senior. I just happen to know a bit about pill refining, so I made a pill for her and she got better," Yang Han said with a smile.

Xiao Li and the young woman were puzzled—Yang Han clearly hadn't refined any pill earlier, so why say that? But Yang Han sent them a voice transmission: "Just follow my lead."

The two knew Yang Han wouldn't harm them, but since Senior Brother Murrow was also a good friend, they wondered why Yang Han was doing this and were curious about his intentions.

"So it's Senior Mu. If you have time, come visit me—I'd like to ask you for some pointers on alchemy," the other man said with a smile.

"Sure, I'll come by when I have time," Yang Han replied with a smile.

"Alright. Since junior-sister is finally recovering, that's something to celebrate. But I have some business to take care of, so I won't stay any longer. Senior, remember to visit!" He smiled and then left.

Watching the man leave, Xiao Li asked curiously, "Senior, why did you...?"

"I'll explain in a moment. For now, just stay quiet here," Yang Han said with a smile. Then, using Thousand-Mile Echo, he sent out all his Phantom Spirit Birds to follow the man.

Halfway down the road, the man muttered to himself, "It's really been cured? What a miracle. I have to report this to Master—finally, some progress."

The man climbed a mountain dotted with houses, found one, and went inside. There, he saw an old man refining pills. When the old man saw someone enter, he frowned, "Murrow, didn't I tell you that no one is allowed in while I'm refining pills? Have you forgotten?"

"Master, I didn't mean to disturb you, but I have good news to report," the man said.

"Oh? What is it?" the old man asked curiously.

"Master, the poison in that young woman has been cured," the man reported.

The old man was overjoyed. "Are you sure?"

"Yes, it's true," the man replied.

"Tell me in detail—what happened exactly?" After waiting for years, the old man was naturally delighted to hear the news. This old man was another alchemist in Medicine King Heaven, known as the Poison Alchemist, infamous for his cruel and evil pills.

After the man explained everything, the Poison Alchemist asked curiously, "Is it really true?"

"Yes, absolutely," the man replied.

"Looks like I need to meet this so-called Senior Mu. Where is he?" the Poison Alchemist asked.

"He's in those two people's house," the man replied.

"I need to figure out a way to get him here. How can I lure him over?" the Poison Alchemist muttered.

"Master, you really want to bring him here? What if he finds out we're behind the poison?" the man asked in alarm.

"So what if he finds out? You coward—don't forget my reputation! To have such a title in Medicine King Heaven is no small feat. If he does find out, I'll just destroy him, keep his soul, and figure out how he solved the poison," the Poison Alchemist said with a cold laugh.

The man was secretly shocked, but then remembered his master was the Poison Alchemist, who always needed test subjects. This time, he had Xiao Li spread the poison to two people, but the young woman was affected before Xiao Li could practice.

"Master, so what should we do?" the man asked, snapping back to attention.

"Let me think. Let's wait for now. You help me investigate his background—see if you can learn anything from your two friends," the Poison Alchemist said.

"Alright, Master," the man replied and left. Watching him go, the Poison Alchemist muttered, "Finally found it. If I can figure out how to solve this poison, I can refine a miraculous poison pill. Ha! Then let's see who dares to act arrogant in front of me—I'll poison them all."

Yang Han heard everything they said. He turned back and said, "There's something I need to tell you both. Don't be shocked, and just do as I say."

The two looked at Yang Han, curious about his sudden secrecy. Yang Han asked, "Your friend earlier—does he have a master?"

"Yes, the Poison Alchemist. His pills are all pretty sinister," Xiao Li replied.

"Exactly. Looks like her poisoning is definitely connected to him," Yang Han said.

"What?" Xiao Li and the young woman exclaimed in shock.

"That Poison Alchemist—who knows what kind of poison pill he's trying to refine? He encountered a new toxin and used you both as test subjects. Your friend, the one who just left, was supervising you every day to see if he could find an antidote," Yang Han explained.

"Impossible! Murrow wouldn't do that," Xiao Li protested, unable to believe it. The young woman was also incredulous.

Seeing their disbelief, Yang Han smiled, "Then think about it—did he teach you any special pill refining methods that led to her being poisoned?"
