Backfired Scheme

These racy novels painted such vivid and lurid scenes that it felt as if one could actually witness Prince Charles Chu of the Kingdom of Chu being ravaged by eighteen burly men.

And those racy illustrations, bound into booklets, were so lifelike that when you flipped through them quickly, the characters inside seemed to come alive and move!

Charles Chu looked at the male protagonist in those racy illustrations and realized the artist had drawn him to look exactly like himself—down to every detail.

Charles Chu was furious. He tore the booklets to shreds, threw them on the ground, and roared, "What are these things!"

His subordinate trembled, "Reporting to Your Royal Highness, I just followed your orders to clean up the aftermath, but as soon as I stepped outside, the whole street was flooded with these books and illustrations... I picked up a few to look at—they're all utterly indecent... That's why I rushed back to report! It's not that we failed to suppress the incident, but someone clearly planned this in advance and deliberately released these things all over the street!"

Charles Chu was so enraged he gritted his teeth. These racy books and illustrations—no doubt, this was the work of Alexander Hayes and Lily Evans.

Looking at the sheer volume of these materials, it was obvious the couple had prepared well in advance. Otherwise, it would be impossible to flood the entire capital with these things in just one night.

Charles Chu gnashed his teeth in anger. He'd tried to set up Lily Evans, but instead, he fell into her trap and got played—hard.

To make matters worse, the Capital Constabulary happened to be present, and someone revealed that all those burly men had taken a drug unique to the Kingdom of Chu. Now, Charles Chu couldn’t clear his name even if he jumped into the Yellow River!

"Useless fools! Get out there and clean up this mess. No matter what, you must recover and destroy all these booklets and novels!" Charles Chu roared.

"Y-yes, Your Royal Highness!" The subordinate fled, stumbling and terrified.

Zhao Yanchuan's eyes burned with hatred—he simply couldn't understand why his scheme had failed.

Clearly, there was something going on between Su Li and that Su Yu, and both had followed Zhao Yanchuan's plan to meet up. But why, when he burst into the room, were only Su Li and her maids there, and Su Yu nowhere to be found!?

Su Yu was a scholar, not a fighter. The room was on the second floor, with guards stationed outside the window. When Zhao Yanchuan brought Xiao Zetian to catch them in the act, Su Yu couldn't possibly have been in the room.

But why, of all things, was Su Yu missing from the room!?

Su Li and Su Yu had received his secret letter and gone to the rendezvous the very next day. There was no way they could've coordinated in advance. So how did Xiao Zetian know about the setup?

Zhao Yanchuan wracked his brain, desperate and furious. He wished he could flay Su Li and Xiao Zetian alive, but his rear hurt so badly he could barely walk. He could only lie on his stomach, waiting for news from his men.

Meanwhile, the capital had erupted into chaos. The scandal of Crown Prince Zhao Yanchuan and his alleged romantic escapade was now the talk of the town, thanks to those racy novels and booklets.

People had always been fascinated by royal gossip and racy material. Now that the two were combined, the effect was simply explosive.

Those racy novels and booklets were snatched up instantly, becoming the hottest items in the capital. Anyone with a business mind—and some artistic skill—started copying and selling their own versions. Those who couldn't make their own scrambled to find suppliers, hoping to get their hands on a batch to resell for profit.

Prince of Qin's Manor

"Princess Consort, Princess Consort! Our books can't keep up with demand—so many people are asking where to buy them!" Lola rushed in, calling out loudly.
