Count to Twenty and I Will Take You Away

"Is there something else?"

Evan Lin frowned and looked at Harold Zhou.

Harold Zhou coughed and quickly said, "That Law Seed—I heard it's only useful in the hands of a real expert. You're an Inner Strength expert, sure, but even for someone at that level, it doesn't do much."

"You don't need to worry about that," Evan squinted and replied coolly.

Harold instantly grew anxious. The Law Seed was way more tempting than Emperor Jade—this was a favor from Master Baiyun!

Just then, someone pushed through the crowd and walked forward.

The newcomer wore a green Daoist robe, moving as swiftly as the wind, his expression cold and proud.

He came from outside the crowd, stood there, scanned the scene, and finally fixed his gaze on Harold Zhou.

Harold, still racking his brain for ways to keep Evan Lin, instantly brightened when he saw the newcomer. He hurried over, barely sparing Evan a glance, and greeted him respectfully: "Brother Qingshan, did your master, Master Baiyun, not come today?"

"I've already prepared the finest rough stones here."

The man before them was named Aiden Green, one of Master Baiyun’s two core disciples. He was barely in his twenties, strikingly handsome, but the icy chill that flashed in his eyes from time to time made the pressure around him nearly unbearable.

"My master went into seclusion the other day, and my senior brother has started breaking through his bottleneck. That’s why I was sent to pick up a few things." Aiden spoke calmly, but every word seemed to make the onlookers feel more pressure.

"Where’s Wade Wei? He messaged me to come here and help him with something, and then I was supposed to take the Law Seed he got from Nanyun. He asked me to come—don’t tell me he isn’t here yet?" Aiden scanned the room, not seeing Wade Wei, and his face instantly darkened.

Harold Zhou and Manager Ren exchanged a glance, both showing a hint of panic.

It didn’t take much to figure out Wade Wei had ulterior motives in inviting Aiden Green here with the Law Seed.

Before either of them could speak, Master Zane Zheng—who was so scared he nearly wet his pants—suddenly lit up like he'd grabbed a lifeline. He rushed forward and fell to his knees in front of Aiden Green, trembling and shouting, "Master Green! You have to stand up for Young Master Wei! He brought the Law Seed to offer to Master Baiyun, but while he was waiting for you to pick it up, that kid crippled him right here!"

"Now Young Master Wei’s been carried out by Boss Zhou, and who knows if he’ll even make it out of here alive!"

Master Zane Zheng wailed loudly, his sharp, monkey-like face twisted with exaggerated emotion.

"He’s been crippled?"

Hearing this, a dangerous glint flashed in Aiden Green’s eyes before he finally turned his gaze to Evan Lin, who was standing off to the side.

"You crippled Wade Wei, didn't you?" Aiden Green's voice was icy, his expression arrogant, looking at Evan Lin as if he were staring at a corpse.

"Yeah." Evan replied flatly with a nod.

"Aiden Green! That kid still has a freshly opened Law Seed in his hand!" Master Zane Zheng hurriedly added from the side.

"A freshly opened Law Seed?" Aiden Green sized Evan Lin up, quickly locking onto the Law Seed in his hand. His eyes flashed.

Irene Xu watched Aiden Green, feeling that something about him was just off—especially his eyes, which made her uncomfortable enough to hide behind Evan Lin.

"That Law Seed was supposed to be my offering to Master Baiyun! But this kid snatched it away first!" Harold Zhou immediately declared, putting on a righteous act. "He just outright robbed me!"

He didn't bother considering that if Evan Lin hadn't been here, the Law Seed would probably have been tossed out as worthless scrap. Now Harold was just flipping the script to win points with Aiden Green.

"That's Master Baiyun's disciple, Aiden Green!"

"I've heard Master Baiyun is a living legend. He has two disciples—one named Aiden Green and one named Greenshade. Aiden Green's skills are insane; he once flipped all of Capitalview's underworld upside down for a while. Can't believe I get to see him in person today!"

Many people around had heard the name and immediately looked on with awe.

"Are you going to hand it over yourself, or do I have to take it by force?" Aiden Green stared coldly at Evan Lin, his gaze icy.

"What if I say no?" Evan Lin raised an eyebrow.

As soon as Evan spoke, the tension in the air cranked up several notches.

Harold Zhou sidled up to Aiden Green and said, "Aiden Green, that guy has already trained Inner Strength. You should be careful!"

"Inner Strength? Just Inner Strength, and he thinks he can act tough in front of me?"

Harold had barely finished speaking when Aiden Green shot him a look of pure disdain. "I broke into Inner Strength at thirteen, and just recently stepped into the Vajra Realm!"

Vajra Realm!

When Aiden Green said that, most of the onlookers looked confused, but a few who understood were visibly shocked.

To ordinary people, the Vajra Realm is the mark of a true king.

Inner Strength martial artists are already rare, but stepping into the Vajra Realm is even harder!

Harold Zhou was instantly fired up, his face full of excitement.

"I'll ask you one more time: the Law Seed—are you handing it over or not?"

"If you don't, don't blame me for taking it myself!"

Aiden Green took a few steps forward, his aura surging. His face was deadly serious as he locked his gaze on Evan Lin.

Dust swirled around his feet—he looked every bit the powerhouse.

At the same time, a powerful surge of energy erupted around Aiden Green.

That energy was sharp as a blade, forcing Harold Zhou and Manager Ren to pale and instinctively step back, putting some distance between themselves and the action.

The Vajra Realm means you can project Inner Strength outside your body!

Irene Xu, being physically frail, trembled under the intense energy, her face going pale.

She could've used this chance to run, but she stubbornly stayed behind Evan Lin, feeling guilty for dragging him into trouble. If she just bailed now, it would be way too disloyal.

"Go outside and wait for me by the manor gate," Evan Lin said calmly, not even turning his head.

Evan spoke in a flat tone, not looking back.

Irene Xu shook her head. "If we're leaving, we leave together. I promised Xingyue I wouldn't let you get hurt."

Irene's voice trembled as she tried to hide her fear, but after saying that, her eyes grew dim and she quietly moved behind Evan, guilt written all over her face. She whispered, "Sorry... I couldn't protect you and just made things worse..."

"It's fine. Turn around, walk toward the exit, and count to twenty in your heart."

"When you reach twenty, I'll take you out of here myself."

Evan's voice was steady, leaving no room for doubt.
