The Return of Old Madam Zheng and Old Master Zheng

"Sorry about earlier."

Yvonne Zhu looked at Evan Lin beside her, full of apology.

"It's fine."

Evan Lin didn't take the two Zhu cousins to heart at all.

Yvonne Zhu took Evan Lin out for a bite to eat, then strolled around the Zhu estate a few times. She was still worried that what happened yesterday at the Zheng family might have left Evan feeling uncomfortable.

What puzzled Yvonne even more was how the Zheng family could be so unreasonable, actually going out of their way to offend someone like Master Lin from Seacrest. By any normal logic, even though the Zhengs were considered a big clan, the entire Zheng family probably wasn't worth as much as Master Lin alone.

But since Evan didn't bring it up himself, Yvonne didn't dare ask.

When they got home,

Victor Zhu and Henry Zhu were still waiting there. When they saw Evan Lin and Yvonne Zhu approaching, Victor stepped forward first.

"Haven't you had enough? Or do you just not think you got beaten up hard enough last time?"

Seeing him approach, Yvonne Zhu instinctively moved to stand in front of Evan Lin.

She really didn't have any good feelings toward these two cousins, and was even more worried they'd provoke Evan and bring disaster down on the whole Zhu family.

With someone like Master Lin from Seacrest, even if he couldn't completely destroy the Zhu clan, he could definitely deal them a serious blow all by himself.

"Yvonne, you misunderstood. We reflected on it just now and realized we really shouldn't have said those things to you." Victor Zhu put on a face full of apology. "No matter what, he's your guest, and we shouldn't have been so harsh."

As soon as he finished, Henry Zhu hurried over, covering his nose and nodding repeatedly. "Yeah, bro, we were a bit out of line just now. But we definitely didn't mean to make you feel unwelcome."

"To show how sorry we are, why don't we all go out tonight? It's not like we have anything else to do."

Hearing this, Yvonne Zhu's heart skipped a beat. Before she could refuse, Evan Lin nodded and agreed without hesitation.

"Great, then it's settled! Seven o'clock tonight, at the peak of Phoenix Mountain—don't be late!"

Victor Zhu thought he'd have to talk much longer to convince him, but was surprised at how easy it was. His face immediately lit up with joy.

Afraid Evan Lin might change his mind, the two quickly hurried away.

Yvonne Zhu wanted to remind Evan about something, but when the words reached her lips, she remembered his true identity and strength—and swallowed her warning.

No matter what tricks Victor Zhu and Henry Zhu tried, Evan Lin definitely wouldn't suffer any losses. What worried Yvonne more now was their safety.

Zheng family.

This time, Leon Zheng and the others were all standing quietly at the gates of the Zheng estate, waiting.

Joy Zheng and Claire Zheng stood a little further back, while Gavin Pan hovered beside Leon Zheng, occasionally glancing at Joy, his eyes full of anger.

On the other side, Jason Zheng's face was pale. That slap from Bryce Gu hadn't hurt him too badly, but it still left him in serious pain.

"Old Master will be back soon. When he returns, I'll talk to him for you." Susan Xu, standing beside Jason Zheng, looked at him with concern. "You'd already reached Vajra, but because of that kid you fell back again. That's a huge loss for our Zheng family!"

"He didn't just injure you—he even took your pills. I will definitely have Old Master get justice for you!"

Susan Xu spoke with resentment, and after finishing, she shot a glare at Joy Zheng standing behind her.

That night, Evan Lin returned the Small Foundation-Cultivating Pill to Joy Zheng. Jason Zheng and Susan Xu knew, but didn't dare try to take it back again.

Susan Xu's face, even after all this time, still hadn't recovered. Not even the Youth-Preserving Beauty Pill could help—she looked terrible, and the ugliness only deepened her hatred for Evan Lin.

"He even hurt my father, and then colluded with outsiders to humiliate our Zheng family! And then he dared to cut ties with us in such a disgraceful, bloody way—he's completely shamed us! If Bryce Gu hadn't been there that night, I would've made sure he learned the Zheng family is not to be insulted!"

Jason Zheng nodded fiercely, his face twisted with rage.

Off to the side, Leon Zheng glanced over at them, his expression calm. Then he turned to Zheng Fuyi beside him and shook his head slightly.

"It's fine. When Old Master and Old Madam come back, you can talk to them. I'm sure Old Madam will let you bring Evan back home. No matter how much your sisters-in-law stir things up, it won't matter. In this family, Old Master and Old Madam still have the final say."

Claire Zheng comforted Joy Zheng, who nodded and looked nervously toward the end of the street.

After all, they were blood relatives who hadn't seen each other for over ten years.

Soon, a black business car slowly drove over from the other end of the road, moving at a leisurely pace.

Seeing the car approach, Leon Zheng and the others straightened up and went to greet it.

When the car stopped and the door opened, a handsome middle-aged man stepped out from the driver's seat, his expression calm. This was the Zheng family's top expert, Mohei Bi.

He coughed occasionally, and after getting out, nodded to Leon Zheng and the others before opening the rear door.

"Master Luke, please take it slow."

Old Master Zheng, dressed in a gray cotton jacket, hurriedly helped a white-browed Daoist out of the car.

The Daoist held a pot of warm tea. After getting out, he looked around, his expression cold and aloof. "Years ago, I got half a leaf of Drunken Cloud Plum Tea from you. This time, coming down from the mountain, I suppose I'm repaying that favor."

"Of course, of course! Master, it's a great honor that you've come down from the mountain for me." Old Master Zheng smiled obsequiously. "The Qi family will probably hear of my return soon, and may come by in the next few days."

"When that happens, I hope you'll help us out, Master. Please, we really need your support."

Old Master Zheng was all smiles and flattery, bowing and scraping. He turned to Leon Zheng. "Leon, hurry and take Master Luke to rest—and bring all the century-old ginseng I asked you to prepare for him!"

"Yes, sir!"

Leon Zheng didn't dare delay.

Joy Zheng didn't pay much attention to Master Luke. Instead, she looked toward the car.

At that moment, a hunched old lady with unsteady legs slowly got out of the car. As soon as she touched the ground, she looked around, and when she saw Joy Zheng, tears streamed down her face. She staggered over to her daughter.

"My dear Joy, you're finally home! I've missed you so much! You left for more than ten years without a word—you nearly worried me to death!"

Old Madam Zheng held Joy Zheng close, her eyes full of love. "But you're home now, and that's all that matters!"

"Don't worry, Joy. Now that we've invited Master Luke to our home, we don't have to fear the Qi family bullying you!"

"You're home now, so stay for good! No one can force you to leave!"

Then she looked around in confusion. "Hey? Where's my grandson or granddaughter? Are they here?"
