Evan Xiao was soaking shirtless in a wooden bath tub, glaring at her with a murderous look.
Grace felt as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped over her head, instantly sobering her up.
Had I lost my mind just now?
Isn't Evan Xiao supposed to be immune to all poisons?
Even if his clothes were smeared with Mystic Bee Venom, shouldn't he be totally fine?
Why did she barge in like this? Was she trying to get herself killed?
"Grace!" Evan Xiao saw her staring blankly at him and spat out each syllable.
"Uh, well, General, my hand suddenly became itchy and painful, and two bumps appeared. I think it's Mystic Bee Venom. It usually acts within fifteen minutes. Before that, I only touched your clothes, so I suspect something's wrong with them."
"Mystic Bee Venom?" Evan Xiao glanced at the clothes lying beside him.
"Yes." Grace nodded vigorously.
"Let me see your hand."
"Huh?"
"Hand!"
Grace extended both her hands.
Her slender hands were soft and delicate, almost boneless, and simply beautiful.
Evan Xiao glanced at her hands, feeling weirdly like she was treating him. He quickly looked away and asked, "So, where are the bumps?"
"Bumps? What bumps?"
"Didn't you say there were bumps on your hand? Where are they?"
Grace pointed to where the bumps had appeared and said, "Here, not just one, but two."
"Where?"
"I just put some medicine on them, so the bumps are gone now," Grace explained.
"Mystic Bees are spiritual insects. What kind of medicine do you have that can cure their venom?"
"It's an old family recipe," Grace replied smoothly.
Suddenly, Evan Xiao grabbed her by the neck, his voice icy as he spat out, "Are you tired of living?"
"Huh?" Grace squeaked, scared out of her wits.
"You think I'd fall for such a dumb trick?" Evan Xiao sneered. "Mystic Bee Venom? You made that up! You just want to crawl into my bed, don't you?"
"Crawl... crawl... cough, cough!" Grace almost choked on her own spit. She shakily pulled out the antidote from her chest, popped the cork, and waved it under Evan Xiao's nose. "Smell it! This is what the antidote smells like!"
Then she shoved her hand under his nose. "Smell my hand! It's the same! I really did use the antidote, that's why the bumps disappeared!"
Evan Xiao stared at her coldly, silent.
Obviously, the medicine scent on her fingers wasn't enough to clear her name.
Seeing he still wouldn't let go, Grace struggled to point at the clothes and said, "Should I test your clothes again? If there's really poison, will you stop doubting me?"
Evan Xiao thought it over, then let her go. "You'd better prove there's poison on my clothes. Otherwise, barging into my bathhouse is an assassination attempt."
Crap!
Grace gulped, walked over, and carefully rummaged through his clothes.
Especially his underwear.
If you're going to poison someone, you go for the underwear, obviously!
Evan Xiao watched her paw at his underwear, his gaze growing icier. He gritted his teeth. "So, did you find any poison?"
"Uh... I can't tell just by looking. We'll need to wait about fifteen minutes. If my hand blisters again, then the clothes are definitely the culprit," Grace said.
"Then we'll wait fifteen minutes."
"Then, I'll just step out—"
"Wait here," Evan Xiao interrupted her.
