Forcing Her to Relinquish

12/2/2025

Lily Evans frowned deeply as she looked at the stubborn Mr. Hugh kneeling before her, thinking to herself that this old man was truly incorrigible!

Clearly, everyone else had already tacitly accepted her as a woman, and the other executives didn’t want to get involved. But this Mr. Hugh just had to jump out and oppose her, all while acting righteous under the banner of scholars everywhere, kneeling at the palace gates to petition!

Once a scholar kneels and petitions at the palace gates, it’s a huge deal—bound to cause a national uproar.

Mr. Hugh knelt on the ground, looking at Lily Evans and Alexander Hayes with a smug expression, as if to say, "What can you do about me?"

Just then, Lola quietly returned and walked over to whisper something in Alexander Hayes’s ear.

Alexander Hayes frowned. "Is that true?"

Lola nodded, her expression absolutely certain.

Lily Evans watched the two whispering and asked, "What happened?"

Lola came over and quietly told Lily Evans in her ear.

"Princess Consort, I just tracked the man who was in contact with Mr. Hugh. He led me to a courtyard less than a mile away. At first glance, the place seemed quiet, but it’s actually packed with more than a thousand men in scholar’s robes. I overheard their plan—they’re going to arrive in batches after Mr. Hugh kneels to petition, all disguised as scholars, with the goal of forcing His Majesty to intervene and strip you of your authority as Dean."

Lily Evans’s pupils contracted sharply. She looked up at Alexander Hayes, her voice full of concern: "Your Highness, whenever scholars kneel and petition at the palace gates, it always shakes the nation, and the royal family has no choice but to compromise. If Mr. Hugh keeps this up, won’t it be impossible to end things peacefully?"

"Impossible to end peacefully?" Alexander Hayes gave Lily Evans a reassuring smile. "Don’t worry, my dear. As long as I’m here, no matter how big the scene gets, I’ll handle it!"

Seeing Alexander Hayes so confident, Lily Evans felt much less worried. She had always trusted his abilities.

After the couple finished speaking, Alexander Hayes walked over to Mr. Hugh.

Mr. Hugh looked at Alexander Hayes and said, "Prince Alexander, I’ll kneel here until His Majesty agrees to deal with this matter. If he never agrees, then I’ll kneel until I die. Hmph! I represent the righteousness of the scholars and uphold the rules. This is a noble act, and history will remember me! Prince Alexander, even if you have military power, can you really use force against the nation’s scholars? I am petitioning on behalf of all scholars, and they will come to support me. When thousands join me, even you, the General, will be powerless. You’d better persuade your Princess Consort to stop being stubborn and hand over the position of Dean."

Mr. Hugh spoke with great pride, glancing now and then at the nearby road, calculating that once his men arrived, he’d be even more confident!

When thousands of scholars kneel at the palace gates to petition, even if Lily Evans doesn’t want to give up her power, she’ll be forced to!

Alexander Hayes looked down at Mr. Hugh, a cold smile curling at his lips. "My Princess Consort has reasoned with you time and again, yet you stubbornly cling to your prejudice and insist on making this about her gender. Tsk, are you really so foolish as to challenge my Princess Consort?"

Mr. Hugh snorted, "I’m not making things difficult for her. I’m upholding the rules!"

Alexander Hayes gave a chilling smile as his sword suddenly flashed from its scabbard, cold light glinting and murderous intent spreading, making the gathered executives take several steps back in fear.
