Unexpected Development

Honestly, the whole mess between the Savage Brotherhood and those three—Malcolm Mo, Leon Li, and Victor Zhao—kicked off because of one name: Evan Chu, Throne Chu.

The Savage Brotherhood was always dead set on tracking down the Starry Void Sigil. So when word got out that the Sigil had switched hands and landed with Malcolm Mo and his two cronies, their spies picked it up immediately. In no time, the Brotherhood sent people to make contact, hoping to cozy up to the new owners.

The Savage Brotherhood isn’t exactly some small fry—Malcolm Mo might hate dealing with bandit scum, but he didn’t shut them out. After all, Marcus Lin came bearing gifts, so why not hear him out?

But the more Marcus Lin interacted with them, the clearer things got—Malcolm Mo, Leon Li, and Victor Zhao weren’t the real owners of the Starry Void Sigil. Hell, these three were busy second-guessing each other, barely holding their alliance together.

Once Marcus Lin caught on, he started thinking twice. Something felt fishy—was there some bigger scheme at play? So he burned a mountain of Starstones buying intel from Star-Treasure Pavilion, and boom: turns out Malcolm Mo and his crew weren’t Evan Chu’s backup at all. They were his sworn enemies.

Marcus got it instantly—this whole thing was a setup!

He wanted to dig deeper with Malcolm Mo’s trio, but right then, those three idiots finally realized something was off—the Starry Void Sigil had been tampered with!

No matter how they tried to sense or refine it, nothing happened. If you couldn’t refine it, the Starry Void Sigil was just a worthless rock. Once they figured it out, they knew Evan Chu had played them for fools—and the first guy to catch their rage wasn’t Evan, but Marcus Lin.

See, earlier Marcus Lin had tried to get in Malcolm Mo’s good graces by claiming he was tight with Evan Chu. Malcolm figured Evan must’ve set something up, maybe left Marcus here to help them find the Star Crystal stash later.

But now? Not a chance. Marcus Lin, with his Holy Emperor Realm cultivation and the Savage Brotherhood backing him, was obviously here to help Evan Chu snatch the Sigil back from those three!

And just like that, a senseless battle exploded into life.

While Marcus Lin was still racking his brains, wondering who really controlled the Starry Void Sigil, Malcolm Mo, Leon Li, and Victor Zhao suddenly attacked him.

But Marcus Lin, Third Boss of the Savage Brotherhood and one of the few genuine Holy Emperors, was no pushover—even at early Holy Emperor Realm, he could go one versus three!

He was struggling a bit, but he hadn’t lost the upper hand. His battle power was almost equal to Lance Li after fusing the Celestial River Meteor. On closer look, Marcus Lin actually wielded three attributes and four natal stars!

Two of his stars were ordinary, but the other two were anything but simple—one was a thunder-attribute star bursting with power, the other a crimson demon star...

It was the same kind of crimson demon star that Lena Lin once possessed, but Marcus’s mastery and unleashing of its power far outstripped Lena’s—and even surpassed Evan Chu’s current level.

“The power a Holy Emperor can unleash is just unimaginable. Marcus Lin has been at this realm five thousand years longer than the other three, so his insights into power run far deeper. If this was a one-on-one fight, those three would already be dead.”

Nathan Yates was stunned. The battle had already raged for half a month, but the four Holy Emperors still hadn’t decided a winner. When true experts clash, especially when evenly matched, it can drag on for years without anyone dying.

“More and more top experts are gathering here. Anyone strong enough to watch this fight isn’t just here for the show—most of them will try to snatch the prize..."

Evan Chu’s mind stirred, and his Chaos World avatar’s star-soul perception quietly spread out. It was an insanely powerful sense—inside the Star-River Dominion, he could sense anything within tens of thousands of star-leagues. Even here in the Yellow-Blade Star-Region, Evan could instantly know what was happening across half the region.

Unless a cultivator above Holy Emperor Realm could hide themselves, no one could block Evan Chu’s perception.

"There are already over a thousand Saint Venerables gathered here. Besides those four Holy Emperors in plain sight, I sense dozens more hidden presences—if I’m right, every one of them is at least early Holy Emperor Realm."

"A thousand Saint Venerables? Dozens of Holy Emperors?! Damn, you’re not messing with me, are you? Is that for real?"

Nathan Yates could hardly believe it. Not only was Evan Chu’s perception terrifying, he couldn’t imagine so many top experts gathering in one place.

That meant fighting for the Starry Void Sigil would be way harder than before.

"Exactly! That’s just how it is. What, you scared now?"

"Scared? Hell no! This is getting exciting! Heh, once we pull this off, the whole Star-River Dominion will know the name Nathan Yates—everyone will tremble when they hear it!"

"Only if we actually succeed. Otherwise, we’ll die and be forgotten—just a pile of ashes left behind. Here’s something you need to remember: right now, in this star-domain battlefield, you and I are the only Saint Lords. There’s nobody weaker than us here."

Evan Chu shook his head as he spoke.

"I’m still stronger than you—the weakest here is you!"

"Oh yeah? Want to test that? I’ll give you one hand’s handicap."

"Get lost! Shameless!" Nathan Yates instantly chickened out. Forget about a handicap—if Evan Chu’s main body didn’t move, just his Chaos World avatar would be enough to deal with Nathan. Anyone who really thought Evan was just a mid-stage Saint Lord would be courting death.

The battle raged on. All the gathered powers were itching to move, but kept their forces in check. Everyone was waiting—for the fight to end, or for some unexpected twist.

And sure enough, something truly unexpected was happening. The real mastermind behind all this—the Star-Treasure Pavilion—was finally making its move.

Evan Chu had sensed plenty of Saint Venerables and Holy Emperors, but sixty percent of them weren’t here to fight for the Starry Void Sigil. They were Hidden Star Guards from Star-Treasure Pavilion—a professional killer corps, terrifyingly strong.

Star-Treasure Pavilion knew Evan and Nathan Yates were working together, but didn’t know the details. Now that Malcolm’s group held the Sigil, Star-Treasure Pavilion couldn’t afford to care about the specifics.

Their one goal: make sure the Starry Void Sigil ends up safely in Evan Chu’s hands, so the Prefecture Master’s plan succeeds.

So, the Hidden Star Guards quietly surrounded the area, ready to strike. But just as they were about to act, something else happened that even they hadn’t expected.

"Damn it! Who was it?! Who killed my brothers? Show yourself and die!"

A massive star-gate Teleportation Array suddenly appeared. Two burly figures squeezed out—one brandishing a blood-soaked greatsaber, the other wielding a gleaming golden spear.

Their auras erupted—these were two peak early Holy Emperors! And behind them, dense ranks of soldiers surged through the gate...
