Miles Gu's Biological Mother Lina

1/4/2026

The one who felt the worst about all this was Miles Gu.

He had always believed that Cici was his mother, but now, out of nowhere, a biological mother had appeared.

For a boy just over four years old, Miles simply couldn't accept it.

Rona Muir was even more direct: "Are you kidding me? Anyone can just pop up and claim to be my sweet son's real mom? Do you think birth mothers are like cabbages on the roadside, free for the taking?"

Jiro Hirayama, who didn't have any strong feelings about the situation, suggested, "Since everyone is here, why not do a DNA test and settle it?"

Rona shot Jiro a fierce glare. What did he mean by that? Was he questioning her bond with Miles? How could he take someone else's side and speak up for another woman?

Jiro was baffled by Rona's reaction. Had he said something wrong?

Cecilia Gu was feeling pretty upset—really upset.

Miles was such a clever kid. He ran over, wrapped his arms around Cici's neck, and said sweetly, "Mommy, I only want you to be my mom."

Cici finally felt a little better after hearing that.

But no matter how much she wished it, she couldn’t take away Miles’s right to know his real mom.

She couldn’t be that selfish.

So Cici said, "Since we’re all here, let’s just do a DNA test for them! If you don’t have the equipment here, Jiro can help out."

Hans was immediately offended—what do you mean, 'don’t have the equipment here'?

Except for building a nuclear bomb, he pretty much had everything, okay?

With the decision made, Hans had Lina’s blood drawn and compared it with Miles’s.

The facilities were top-notch, so the results came back quickly.

Lina really was Miles’s biological mother.

Everyone had kind of expected it, but having it confirmed still felt awkward.

Of all of them, Cici probably felt the most uncomfortable.

She knew perfectly well that it was only right for Miles to recognize his biological mother, but emotionally, she just couldn’t accept it.

After a full day and night of rest, Lina had finally recovered completely.

She was a trained intelligence operative, so her recovery was especially fast.

After a shower, looking refreshed, she appeared before everyone again—an absolute stunner.

If Lina weren’t gorgeous, what business would she have being a spy?

Even the notoriously picky Earl Field wouldn’t have chosen her from the crowd and snuck into a motel for some rated-R action.

Though Earl Field didn’t have any real feelings for her, Lina’s beauty was undeniable.

Otherwise, how could Miles, at just four years old, already be such a handsome little boy?

Genetics really do matter.

Lina was clearly surprised too.

At first, she just wanted to use her identity to find a way out, but she hadn’t expected all the key players to be right here.

Cici asked to speak with Lina privately, and Hans agreed.

They were taken to an interrogation room—just to make sure Cici would be safe.

After all, Lina was a trained intelligence agent, while Cici was just a regular person.

In terms of combat skills, Lina could easily take Cici down.

Lina didn’t seem to care much about her situation—she just sat there in the cell, looking Cici straight in the eye.

Two women: one is Miles’s birth mother, the other his adoptive mother.

Who would’ve thought their first meeting would be like this?

For a moment, neither of them knew what to say.

Finally, Lina broke the silence: "I’ve been following you online all this time. You’re amazing."

Cici forced a smile—she suddenly felt like crying. What was she supposed to do?

What does it feel like to be praised by your child’s birth mother?

Seeing Cici’s conflicted expression, Lina paused and said, "I’m not a very good mother. My profession means I can’t raise my child like a normal person."

Cici nodded in understanding.

After learning about Lina’s job, Cici actually felt a little sorry for her.

"Back then, I really had the chance to get rid of the baby, but I hesitated. In the end, I gave birth to him despite all the pressure." Lina smiled softly.

When Miles smiles, he actually looks a lot like Lina—delicate and beautiful.

"When my child was taken, I was devastated. I did look for him, but when I saw a Chinese woman named Rona Muir take him away, I thought maybe letting her raise him wasn’t such a bad idea. So while traffickers chased them, I secretly helped her get rid of a lot of ambushes. Myanmar isn’t as safe as China, and Rona’s financial situation and abilities were much better than anything here."

Lina was completely honest, no drama—Cici felt a little embarrassed by that.

"For the child, going to China was much better than staying in Myanmar," Lina continued. "Later, I heard he was fostered under your name and even took your surname. I know how important surnames are to Chinese people. You treated him so well—I was truly happy. Thank you, Cici."

Cici bit her lip, not knowing what to say.

Turns out this woman had always known about her.

Cici asked herself—she could never be so generous or detached.

If her own child were fostered by someone else, and she had to hold back from seeing him, that would be unimaginable.

If she were kept from her child, she’d lose her mind.

But Lina actually managed to do it.

It wasn’t that she didn’t love her child—she just loved him in a very special way.

"I’m a special agent. My world is too dangerous. He’s much safer with you." Lina’s beautiful eyes sparkled. "I don’t have anything else to say."

Only then did Cici ask, "Now that you’ve admitted your identity, are you planning to fight for Miles’s custody?"

Lina smiled. She’d seen plenty of cunning and cold-hearted people, but she never expected Cici to be so pure-hearted.

All Cici cared about was the people she loved most.

Whenever it involved someone she loved, she’d lose her composure and act irrationally.

To agents like Lina, women like Cici were both unbelievable and incredibly vivid.

Women like her were the envy of countless female agents.

A pure-hearted woman must have had someone protecting her as she grew up, guiding her with love, and now has a man who loves her more than life itself. Only then could a woman be so pure and beautiful.

Lina admitted—she was a little jealous of Cici.

Most of the men in Lina’s life truly valued her more than their own lives.

"Cici, you’re adorable," Lina said openly. "I almost don’t want to be your enemy."

Cici: "Uh..."

Did she say something wrong?

Was her train of thought off?

Lina said directly, "Even if I wanted to fight for custody, could I win against Charles Yin or the Earl? Obviously not. Either of them could have me killed in seconds. Don’t doubt it—if I so much as laid a finger on you, those two men outside would have a gun pointed at my heart without hesitation."

Their meeting was being broadcast from every camera in the room to another room outside.

Hearing Lina’s words, Charles Yin and Earl Field both smiled.

This woman’s instincts were spot-on.

"The only reason I’m being honest about my identity is because I just want to survive," Lina admitted, making Cici even more embarrassed.

"Don’t worry, I won’t fight for Miles’s custody. Honestly, just surviving out here is hard enough for me—otherwise I wouldn’t be fleeing with a bunch of refugees. Sure, I could survive in some remote place, but if Miles were with me, he’d be constantly on the run. That’s not what I want." Lina paused, then continued, "You’re amazing—truly the most talented woman I’ve ever met. With you as his mother, Miles gets the best resources."

"But don’t you miss your child?" Cici couldn’t help but ask.

"No," Lina answered bluntly. "If my life isn’t secure, saying I miss him is just nonsense."

Cici fell silent again.

"If you’ve never faced the threat of death, it’s hard to understand," Lina said. "Plus, the child left me so young—our bond is honestly pretty thin."

Knowing Lina wasn’t here to fight for custody was a relief.

Even though Miles wasn’t under her care anymore—he belonged to the Field Family now—in her heart, Miles was still her son.

But now, with his birth mother suddenly appearing, everything felt different.

Lina was a very smart woman.

She knew exactly what she could and couldn’t ask for.

So she told Cici, straight up, that she didn’t want Miles—she just hoped, for his sake, that Cici would give her a chance to survive.

The conversation over, Cici nervously left the interrogation room and returned to the others.

Jiro Hirayama said matter-of-factly, "Biological parents aren’t that important. Back in Japan, I tried cloning myself with my own cells. It failed, but if it had worked, would I be the father of those cells?"

Why did that sound so weird?

Is that even the same thing?

Charles Yin asked Cici directly, "What are you worried about? Afraid Lina will change her mind someday and try to take your place?"

Ugh, even if you think that, don’t say it out loud, okay?

It’s so humiliating!

Charles just smiled, "So what? If you’re really worried, we can just make sure she never leaves this base."

What did he mean by that?

Was he talking about killing Lina?

When Miles grows up, will he really not resent me for this?
