I Thought You Ate Imperial Cuisine Every Day

After speaking, Henry Chen directed several servants to fetch food boxes, deliberately packing four plates of leftovers from the previous day, a basin of water used to rinse the pot after cooking, and three stale buns from yesterday, then headed straight to Grace’s quarters.

After knocking on the door, he made sure to show the bruises on his face to Grace, and said sarcastically, "Alliance Leader, I got quite the scolding from your Rina Chu here yesterday. Today, I wouldn’t dare slack off again, so I’ve come to deliver your meal personally!"

Rina Chu shot him a sideways glance and said, "Now that’s more like it! You only listen after a beating, huh?"

Henry Chen smiled faintly and waved his hand.

The servants opened the food boxes and set the dishes out on the table.

The sour, spoiled smell of the food could be detected from a distance.

The soup didn’t look like soup at all—it was more like greasy dishwater, giving off a rancid, oily stench.

The only thing even remotely edible were the three cold buns.

Grace looked at the food, then at Henry Chen, and asked with a half-smile, "So these are the meals you ‘personally’ brought me?"

"Please enjoy, Alliance Leader." Henry Chen raised his eyebrow.

"Henry Chen!" Rina Chu was so angry her nose nearly twisted. She grabbed Henry Chen by the collar and snapped, "Who gave you the guts to humiliate the Alliance Leader like this?"

Henry Chen sneered, "What’s wrong with this food? Three out of four dishes have meat! Still complaining? Well, you’re from some backwater, so of course you don’t know any better. People might even think you eat imperial cuisine every day!"

Just as he finished speaking, the servants waiting outside suddenly cried out, "What’s that?"

"Isn’t that the Tuoba Royal Family’s crest?"

"Why is it coming straight over here?"

Bobby and Rina Chu heard the commotion and went out to take a look.

Up in the air, Lucas Hua finished his exchange with the newcomers and let them pass.

Three flying beasts bearing the Tuoba Royal Family’s crest landed in the square in front of the Alliance Leader’s alchemy room.

A eunuch and five imperial guards hopped down, each carrying a beautifully crafted food box, and hurried toward Grace’s quarters.

Once inside, all six knelt and bowed. When they looked up, they realized the lead eunuch was none other than Felix Zeng, the chief eunuch serving Emperor Tuoba Hong.

"Greetings to Alliance Leader Grace!" Felix Zeng said. "His Majesty heard you’ve had some stomach trouble and lost your appetite, so he sent us to deliver special imperial cuisine prepared just for you. Please enjoy."

After speaking, he waved his hand, and the imperial guards brought the food boxes over, ready to set them on the table.

"Oh my, what do we have here?" Felix Zeng said, eyeing the food on the table.

"Henry Chen, clear this stuff out!" Grace said.

Henry Chen stared at the scene, dumbfounded, then had the servants take everything away.

Then, the guards laid out the steaming imperial dishes. Each one was exquisite, making everyone’s mouth water just from the smell.

"Thank you for your trouble, Felix Zeng." Grace smiled. "Please tell His Majesty I’m fine, and thank him for his concern."

"His Majesty said the Spirit Alliance is vital. As its leader, only when you’re well can he rest easy. So from now on, he’ll have imperial cuisine sent to you every day until you’re fully recovered!"

"Thank you for His Majesty’s kindness!" Grace smiled. "Rina Chu, Bobby, weren’t you both starving? Hurry up and come eat!"

The two walked inside, only to find Henry Chen blocking the doorway.

"Henry Chen, don’t just stand there—get lost! What are you doing blocking the way? Don’t ruin my ‘imperial meal’!" Rina Chu said with a cheeky grin.
