Leaving

1/4/2026

Mrs. Zhang's eyes immediately turned red.

Although Mrs. Zhang hadn't known Cecilia Gu for long, she could tell that Charles and Cecilia truly loved each other.

But why did it have to end up like this...

Sigh...

The matriarch had instructed them not to interfere, to let them make their own decisions.

Otherwise, she would have...

Cecilia Gu smiled at Mrs. Zhang, then turned and left.

Rona Muir had already parked the car. As soon as Cecilia got in, she turned the car around and drove off without a word.

Cecilia didn't know that just as the car left the gate, Charles Yin rushed out of his study, wanting to chase after her.

Before Charles could reach the door, Mrs. Yin's harsh voice came from behind him: "If you want to drive your mother to her death, then go ahead and chase her."

Charles Yin's steps came to a sudden halt.

Standing where he was, Charles took a deep breath and spoke softly, "So, Mother, are you choosing to stand against your own son?"

Mrs. Yin's voice instantly rose: "Charles Yin, I am your biological mother! Six years ago, who did I do all this for? Are you saying you've forgotten your debt to me?"

Charles let out a cold laugh.

"Of course I can't just stand by and watch my mother be driven to her death by me. Otherwise, wouldn't that make me an unfilial son?" Charles's smile grew even colder and more twisted.

Mrs. Zhang couldn't help but shiver.

She rarely saw the young master like this.

Whenever the young master showed that smile, it was always when he was in utter despair.

Seeing that she'd managed to suppress Charles's spirit, Mrs. Yin finally smiled with satisfaction.

But her smile didn't last long—it froze on her face completely.

"It's just that I suddenly remembered there are things I need to handle at the company. I have to go take care of some business. Would Mother mind?" Charles replied blandly, "Mother, you should get some rest. Since Sylvia Ran is here to help, I can rest assured. Mrs. Zhang, please look after my mother."

"Yes, young master," Mrs. Zhang nodded.

After saying this, Charles left without looking back.

Watching Charles walk away, Mrs. Yin's face turned ashen.

How could her perfectly obedient son have changed so much in just six years?

No, her son had always been so obedient!

He must have changed because of that Cecilia Gu!

Cecilia Gu, don't even think about getting my approval! Don't even think about becoming my daughter-in-law!

Mrs. Yin raised her hand and overturned the table in the living room.

Crash—the room was left in complete chaos.

Mrs. Zhang hung her head, not daring to look.

Madam wasn't like this before. But ever since that incident six years ago, she's changed...

Six years ago, so many things happened—including some things the young master never knew about...

If the young master ever found out, it would probably break his heart.

Mrs. Zhang thought for a moment and decided to stay silent.

Sylvia Ran slowly walked down, her gaze landing on Mrs. Yin.

She could sense Mrs. Yin's emotional instability, but to her, that was a good thing.

Because the more unstable someone's emotions are, the easier they are to control.

"Auntie, why are you upset again? Charles is just busy with work at the company—it's a good thing!" Sylvia Ran slowly handed her a cup of tea. "As long as he's not going to see Cecilia Gu, it's fine."

Mrs. Yin patted Sylvia Ran's hand. "You're always so thoughtful. Charles has been blinded by that woman, but it's okay—he'll see your worth eventually."

A flash of malice flickered in Sylvia Ran's eyes.

She was certain she would be the one standing by Charles Yin's side in the end.

No one else was worthy!

It wasn't until Rona Muir finished checking in that Cecilia finally snapped back to reality.

Well, looks like both best friends just got dumped at the same time!

And the reason for their heartbreak was the same—it was all because of Sylvia Ran!

Rona Muir gave a bitter laugh. "Sorry, Cecilia, my head's a mess today. I couldn't help you earlier."

Cecilia shook her head. "We're both barely holding it together."

"So what are you planning to do next?" Rona Muir couldn't help asking. "I've already taken leave—I really don't want to see those people again!"

"Me neither," Cecilia replied softly. "Tomorrow, come with me back to the Yun Family—I want to explain things to them, and then visit my old home. I called my mom there today to ask about my background, but she was clearly evasive, refusing to say anything. Since I have nothing better to do, I might as well go and clear my head."

Rona Muir nodded. "Sure, I'll go with you. It doesn't matter where I am anyway."

The night passed in silence.

The next day, Rona Muir drove Cecilia back to the Yun Family.

As soon as she walked in, Cecilia was pulled into a room by Mr. and Mrs. Yun, bombarding her with questions.

After hearing Cecilia's story, Mr. Yun was so angry he wanted to confront the Yin Family right away!

Why should a daughter of the Yun Family have to suffer such humiliation?

If the Yin Family is so high and mighty, we won't cling to them!

Mrs. Yun was so heartbroken she could only cry. "My daughter, you've suffered so much! Don't worry, your father and I will stand by you! Even if you get divorced, we're not afraid—the Yun Family can support you and your child!"

Cecilia smiled and nodded, but didn't say anything.

Cecilia spoke softly. "Mom, Dad, I wanted to discuss something with you. I need to go back to my old hometown for a bit. Tomorrow, Rona and I will pack up and fly over. If anything happens here, just call me."

"Is there something urgent you need to do there?" Mrs. Yun was reluctant to let Cecilia go.

Cecilia hadn't been in K City long, but Mrs. Yun was already attached to her.

"Yeah, it's a bit urgent." Cecilia didn't want to tell them she was going back to investigate her past just yet.

Some things are better left unsaid until the dust settles.

Mr. Yun, always generous, frowned and said, "Then take a few people with you. You're leaving just like that, and the Yin Family didn't even send anyone to accompany you? That's just heartless! No matter what, you're still carrying the Yin Family's child!"

Cecilia shook her head. "I told them not to come. Since I've decided to cut ties with the Yin Family, there's no reason to rely on them anymore."

"That's right! Our daughter is absolutely right! We don't need them!" Mrs. Yun agreed enthusiastically.

"Actually, your aunt is heading to N City too, so let her go with you. Otherwise, I won't be at ease." Mr. Yun still frowned. "Just you two girls isn't enough. I'll send a couple of assistants from the family—don't worry about it, I'll handle the arrangements."

Cecilia nodded and didn't refuse.
