Important Mission

The Female Supervisor thought all this, but dared not speak, merely watching Chancellor Evans with fear in her eyes as she respectfully saw her out of the Textile Works.

When Chancellor Evans boarded her carriage, she saw the Female Supervisor standing nearby, head bowed in deference.

Chancellor Evans keenly sensed the Female Supervisor's attitude had changed. Before, she was almost fanatical in her admiration, treating Chancellor Evans as an idol.

But now, she stood so stiffly, even trembling with fear.

Chancellor Evans looked at the Female Supervisor, opened her mouth to say something, but was overcome by a wave of exhaustion. She leaned back in the carriage, waved her hand, and said, "To the Palace."

The carriage jolted along the road, making Chancellor Evans quite uncomfortable.

She wasn't a cruel person. Seeing Little Green's burnt flesh and charred skin had only now begun to make her feel sick. Combined with the carriage's bumpiness, she felt nauseous and began to retch.

Chancellor Evans wiped her mouth, sighed, and muttered to herself, "They've already invented cars overseas by now. When will I ever get my hands on one? These carriages are just too bumpy..."

She leaned against the carriage wall, eyes half closed, and only opened them again when they arrived at the Palace of Qin.

Instead of heading to Chancellor Evans' study to deal with state affairs as usual, she went straight to the inner palace, took out a box from her room, placed it on the table, and opened it.

Lady Chancellor Evans sat at the table and instructed the attendant outside, "Go and invite Mrs. Penny and Professor Lola in."

"Yes, Queen Lily."

It wasn't long before Mrs. Penny's graceful figure appeared at the doorway. Though she had borne two children, Mrs. Penny showed no sign of age—if anything, she radiated a richer, more alluring charm, like a perfectly ripe peach, soft and glowing.

Queen Lily glanced up at Mrs. Penny with a subtle smile, thinking to herself, 'Xiao Yun really lucked out, marrying such a stunning and captivating woman. Even I, a fellow woman, can't help but be moved.'

Mrs. Penny entered, bowed gracefully, and said with a playful smile, "Mrs. Penny greets Queen Lily. May I ask what brings your ladyship to summon me?"

"Come, sit here." Queen Lily waved her hand, inviting Mrs. Penny to take the seat beside her.

Mrs. Penny approached and, upon closer look, noticed Queen Lily was crafting a Disguise Mask. Curious, she asked, "Queen Lily, you haven't made Disguise Masks in ages—what's the occasion today?"

Queen Lily smiled at Mrs. Penny, her hands never stopping. "It's true, I'm a bit out of practice. If only White Pete and White Lily weren't off traveling the world, I'd ask them to lend a hand."

"Oh? If you're thinking of asking Master White for help, does that mean you're making a whole batch of masks?" Mrs. Penny's eyes sparkled as she caught Queen Lily's meaning. But what could be the reason for suddenly needing so many Disguise Masks?

Queen Lily looked at Mrs. Penny and chuckled, "Mrs. Penny, you truly are sharp as ice and snow—quick-witted and perceptive. You always see right through me."

Mrs. Penny laughed, "Thank you for the compliment, Queen Lily. To receive praise from the renowned Lady Chancellor Evans is an honor indeed! But I can't help but wonder—why are you making so many Disguise Masks?"

"You'll find out soon enough," Queen Lily replied with a smile. As she spoke, she finished a Disguise Mask. "This one's just a quick job—not very sturdy, good for one use only, but at least it's fast to make."

Just then, Professor Lola appeared at the doorway and stepped inside. "Lady Chancellor Evans, you called for me?"

Queen Lily grinned and tossed a mask to Professor Lola. "It's been ages since you've done Shadow Guard work, Professor Lola. Today, I've got an important mission for you!"
