The Beast Clan's royal capital was Beast King City. Evan Chu and Sean Xiao soon arrived at the city gate. The city walls of Beast King City were every bit as formidable as those of Nine-Shade City, and within its walls lived members of the other four races as well, with Netherbeasts being the most numerous.
As in every major city, entry required paying a certain entrance fee, and Beast King City was no exception. Evan and Sean were quickly stopped by the city guards. Since they were here to stir up trouble, Evan had already decided to make a big scene—the bigger, the better. He made up his mind to kill a few guards before anything else.
"Kid, you have to pay the entrance fee to enter the city. Don’t you even know that much? How dare you come to Beast King City! If you don’t have any Netherstones, get lost—or we’ll arrest you as a spy and make sure you die a miserable death." One guard sneered at Evan Chu.
"You think someone like you has the right to tell this young master to scram? You’re just asking for death! Go, wipe him out for me!" Evan Chu ordered Sean Xiao directly.
"Why do I have to wipe him out instead of you? Are you kidding me?" Sean Xiao looked at Evan Chu, his face full of frustration.
"Because I’m the boss. These jobs are for the underlings—how could I possibly do it myself? Hurry up, what are you standing around for?" Evan Chu snapped.
Sean Xiao shot Evan Chu a glare and said, "Fine, this time you win—actually treating me like a lackey. Just wait till we get back, I’ll make you pay!" With that, he reached out and grabbed at the guard through the air. Instantly, the guard let out a shrill scream and collapsed to the ground, motionless, blood pouring from his mouth.
Killing someone in Beast King City—especially a city gate guard—was virtually unheard of. This might be the first time in years such a thing had happened. Many onlookers turned to stare at the two of them; a human and a Ghost youth daring to make trouble here was simply astonishing.
"How dare you! Killing a Beast Clan guard in Beast King City—everyone, work together and capture these two! Don’t let either of them escape!" At that moment, a man who looked like the leader of the guards roared angrily.
Several guards rushed at Evan Chu and Sean Xiao. Evan, taking advantage of the chaos, darted behind Sean Xiao and said, "Quick, take care of these guys—make as much noise as possible! If you can, destroy the city gate. That way, we’ll draw out the important figures."
Sean Xiao's face darkened. This time, he really was being used as a weapon. With a flash, he moved—within the blink of an eye, several charging guards were cut down by him. His terrifying power left the onlookers stunned.
Sean Xiao spared the guard captain, and Evan Chu immediately said, "You dare charge us an entry fee? Even the Second Prince of the Beast Clan has to be polite to Little Ye when he sees him. Who do you think you are? Get lost, or I’ll kill you!"
The surrounding crowd began to speculate about who Evan Chu and Sean Xiao really were. For someone even the Second Prince would fear, they had to be extraordinary—or at least of extremely noble status.
Soon, someone realized something was off. Not long ago, the Ghost Clan had issued a bounty for a youth shrouded in ghostly energy. Could this be the wanted fugitive? If so, he was unbelievably arrogant; if not, then he must be a highly noble Ghost Clan scion.
The guard captain quickly fled—it was obvious he’d gone to get reinforcements. With something like this happening at Beast King City, he had to report to the City Lord’s Mansion. Evan Chu had deliberately mentioned the Second Prince, hoping to lure him out.
Sean Xiao then struck the city gate wall with his palm. The massive force blasted a huge section of the wall apart, the deafening crash echoing in all directions and sending the crowd fleeing in panic.
Evan Chu and Sean Xiao swaggered into the city. "Not bad, Sean. You’ve got real talent for troublemaking. Stick with me and I guarantee you endless wealth and glory," Evan said.
"Frostbane, shut up for once, will you? I’d love to smack you so hard your eyes would see stars. You don’t even lift a finger, just stand there mouthing off—serves me right for picking friends like you!" Sean Xiao said helplessly.
"Heh, I’m just messing with you. When the next wave comes, I’ll handle it myself—so you can’t say I never pull my weight!" Evan Chu laughed.
Meanwhile, chaos erupted in the City Lord’s Mansion of Beast King City. The thunderous crash from the gate had startled everyone. "Who’s got the guts to cause trouble in Beast King City? They must be tired of living!" a Beast Clan elder said angrily.
"Maybe it’s just a dispute between races. It’s been ages since anything like this happened in Beast King City. I actually find it kind of refreshing—why don’t we go see which idiots are making trouble in the marketplace?" a young man said.
Just then, the guard captain Evan Chu had spared rushed up to the young man and said breathlessly, "Something’s wrong—someone’s causing trouble at the city gate and has killed the guards. The intruders are terrifyingly strong."
"What exactly happened? Speak clearly. I want to see who’s got the guts to ignore my Beast Clan!" the young man said.
"It was a Ghost Clan youth and a human middle-aged man. The human was especially strong—he killed all the guards in the blink of an eye. And the Ghost Clan youth said that even a prince would have to be polite to him, like he was some kind of noble," the guard captain reported.
The young man was instantly furious. Someone dared to ignore him—this was practically asking for a rebellion. "So they killed my Beast Clan guards for no reason?" he demanded.
"Not exactly. They were supposed to pay an entry fee, but the youth refused. That led to an argument, and then he told the middle-aged man to kill several of our brothers," the guard captain explained.
"Second Prince, it looks like they came here looking for trouble. We’d better be careful," the elder warned.
"Let’s go. I don’t care if they mean trouble—if they dare cause chaos on my turf, I’ll show them what I’m made of," the young man said, preparing to leave.
"Should we inform the Beast King? If they’re targeting you on purpose, things could get complicated. Everyone knows the rules in Beast King City. If these two are deliberately making trouble, Second Prince, you should realize the risks," the elder continued.
"No need. With you by my side, what’s there to fear? Come on, let’s go see which so-called big shots dare stir up trouble!" With that, the young man soared into the sky, heading straight for the city gate.
Meanwhile, the Ghost King and his entourage arrived at Nine-Shade City. The Shade Lord had just been about to set out for the Beast Clan, but the Ghost King’s sudden arrival stopped him cold—a sense of foreboding welled up in his heart...
