"Boss, I still think it's necessary to do this."
Black Moon stood quietly beside me as I sat on the beach, gazing silently at the coastline ahead. That awkward little performance earlier had surely tipped off Roxie Lan, since I felt not a trace of recognition or warmth toward her.
A sharp sound—white light flashed behind me, slicing through my body and piercing my heart. I turned to look back. Zachary Justice glared at me, his face twisted with rage.
"Sorry, Daoist. I never intended for you to awaken again. After all, you've already given enough to this world. It's just unfortunate that you refuse to walk the path."
Zachary Justice stared at me, quietly. He shed his white Daoist robe, revealing the Hell Imprint carved into his chest. I started to laugh.
"There's nothing you can do about it, right, Daoist? I resurrected you. You can't betray me, and you can't defy me."
As I spoke, Zachary Justice glared at me furiously. I shook my head.
"Looks like the Infernal Weapon test failed."
I snapped my fingers as I spoke. The woman I'd resurrected in the Human-faced Forest—Jade Zeng—slowly appeared, cloaked in a swirl of black mist. Jade Zeng stared at me, her face twisted in pain.
"Why did you make me remember all this? It was supposed to be..."
"Enough. There's no need to say anything more. I told you this a long time ago, didn't I?"
I grinned wickedly, staring out at the sea. The water slowly darkened, and then images began to surface—memories from Jade Zeng.
To make sure the Infernal Weapon could manifest in the Living World, I ran an experiment. I used tears to infuse the forging materials, then casually crafted a weapon from wood—because Jade Zeng had spent years in the Human-faced Forest, fused with the trees, she and the wood shared a certain kinship.
After that, I delved into Jade Zeng's karma and altered her fate. She didn't die because of the mirror, but because she couldn't bear the rage inside her, the urge to destroy everything—so she self-destructed. As for that mirror, I just tossed it somewhere else.
I'm still not sure who made those mirrors and planted them in the Living World, endlessly spawning Mirror Ghosts. But now the Mirror World belongs to me. The reason I resurrected Zachary Justice was to seize control here—and I've done it.
"Stop trying, Zachary Justice. You can't kill me—you should know that by now. No matter what you do, it won't work."
I shot Zachary Justice a sidelong glance. Every moment, he was scheming to send me back to Hell, to keep me from ever returning to the Mirror World.
"Black Moon, how is the selection going?"
I asked, and Black Moon nodded.
"It should be finished soon."
