What Is Your Pursuit

12/19/2025

After receiving Joe Di's message, Aaron Jace immediately piloted the ship and rushed over.

"Big Brother, why has the spatial turbulence here stopped?" Aaron Jace asked, then stared at Blackfire in astonishment. "Little Black, did you level up again?"

With his cultivation soaring, Blackfire didn't mind Aaron Jace's informal address. He grinned, "That's right, I've leveled up again."

Joe Di smiled, "Sprout did well too, also leveled up."

Sprout had already jumped off the shuttle with Aaron Jace, excitement clear in his voice. "Big Brother, I've entered the ranks of Immortal Beasts!"

Joe Di pointed to the Wood Origin Array he had sealed with a protective formation and said, "Aaron Jace, you and Sprout go inside to cultivate. There's Wood Origin energy within."

"Ah..." Aaron Jace only managed a sound before he dashed madly into the protective formation.

Coming from the top-tier sect Star Demon Palace, Aaron Jace knew exactly what Wood Origin was. Even his father couldn't obtain such a treasure. Now that it appeared, how could he possibly wait?

"Little Root, with your trash aptitude, if you want to keep up with everyone, you'd better hurry inside and cultivate," Blackfire said sarcastically.

Sprout didn't need Blackfire's reminder; he rushed into the Wood Origin Array as well. The weakening of his cultivation affected him most—he used to ride on Blackfire's head. Later, he was on equal footing with Blackfire, but now he was practically Blackfire's little follower.

Joe Di landed on the shuttle and apologized to Moria Lane, who was standing on the deck. "Junior Sister Moria, I'll help you find the Trueglass Elixir as soon as possible."

Without the Trueglass Elixir to heal her wounds, Moria Lane simply couldn't cultivate. Otherwise, in this Wood Origin land, she could have advanced by at least one or two levels.

Moria Lane smiled gently. "Senior Brother, don't worry. Actually, being unable to cultivate during my recovery hasn't been a bad thing for me."

Moria Lane truly took her injuries lightly. Over the years, though she couldn't cultivate, she still gained a lot, allowing her to see things she hadn't understood before. These insights couldn't be gained through cultivation alone. If she never obtained the Trueglass Elixir, she would simply accept it and leave peacefully.

To her, meeting true-hearted friends like Joe Di, Blackfire, Sprout, and Aaron Jace was already a blessing.

If one day she did obtain the Trueglass Elixir, then with her recent insights into life, her cultivation would advance by leaps and bounds. A few decades meant little in the long journey of cultivation.

But many cultivators, in their pursuit of the Dao, are unwilling to pause for even a moment, fearing they'll miss their path or fall behind in cultivation. Yet sometimes, taking time to reflect on life is also a form of cultivation.

Unfortunately, such things can only be experienced, not explained in words. How many can truly see through it all?

"Senior Brother, I'm going in now." Moria Lane possessed a Pure Spirit Body. The moment her gaze landed on that golden Dao rune, she sensed its extraordinary nature. Knowing her place, she went inside, leaving the space to Joe Di.

Blackfire also knew this Dao rune was no ordinary thing. Since it was something the boss had rescued, and now left outside, it was probably for negotiations. He hurriedly slipped into the shuttle as well.

Though Wood Origin energy was greatly beneficial for his cultivation, it was far inferior to Fire Origin. He decided to leave these benefits to Little Root and Little Jace.

Joe Di's gaze fell on the golden Dao rune that hadn't drifted away or sent any messages. He said, "I've just obtained another Cosmic Membrane Fragment. If you wish to remain with me, you can reside within the Cosmic Chaos Fragment. All I ask is that you help me when I need it. In the future, if you want to leave, you're free to do so."

With that, Joe Di produced the Cosmic Membrane Fragment. He wouldn't promise not to use it; when the time came, if the Dao rune wanted to leave, it could.

To Joe Di's surprise, the golden Dao rune didn't enter the Cosmic Membrane Fragment. Instead, it sent him a message: "What is your Dao?"

Joe Di looked speechlessly at the golden Dao rune. "You don't know my Dao? I changed the Galaxy Art to the Starry Sky Art, and you helped me. You should know my cultivation path best—you're part of it."

The golden Dao rune sent another message: "I'm asking, what is your ultimate pursuit in cultivation?"

Pursuit? Joe Di was stunned for a moment, then fell silent. What was his ultimate goal in cultivation?

It seemed he had never considered it—his entry into cultivation was abrupt. If he had to name a pursuit, he had already achieved it, for he had avenged the Di Family.

Had he not asked himself this question, Joe Di would have kept cultivating aimlessly, until one day he remembered it.

But now...

Suddenly, Joe Di felt he'd lost his purpose in cultivation. If he feared being hunted by powerful enemies, he could simply leave this Immortal Realm. With his current abilities, he could easily dominate a lower realm, couldn't he?

No, if he did that, what about his friends? What about Starhaven City? And he still had an older sister, Debbie Di.

"I cultivate to become strong, so no one can control my fate. I want to build a world of my own design," Joe Di finally voiced his true feelings.

The Golden Principle was silent for a long time before sending another message. "In the universe, there is no strongest—only stronger. One day, you will die, and the world you desire will collapse with you."

"Then I'll cultivate until I reach immortality," Joe Di replied resolutely.

The Golden Principle's message was indifferent. "Up to now, I have not seen a second true immortal. Even those who obtained the other eight Prime Laws failed to achieve immortality."

"You're a Prime Law?" Joe Di asked in astonishment.

The Golden Principle ignored Joe Di and continued, "The universe is vast. So far, there has only ever been one true immortal."

Joe Di didn't ask further; he knew the Golden Principle would send such messages to him.

Sure enough, the Golden Principle continued to send messages: The only true immortal is the Cosmos Lord. The Cosmos Lord was born with the universe, eternal and undying. Yet, after the chaos first split, the universe was no longer the same as it was at its inception. Every moment, the universe expands wildly, countless lives arise and perish...

When the universe grew too vast for the Lord to control, he realized that as an immortal, he could not let the universe slip from his grasp. He sent the eight Prime Laws born with the universe into the cosmos, choosing eight disciples to govern the eight directions.

"Are you one of the Prime Laws?" Joe Di couldn't help but ask again.

The Golden Principle seemed to sigh, then continued: At the birth of the universe, there were nine laws—eight purple Prime Laws and one golden Prime Law.

The Cosmos Lord considered the Golden Principle incomplete and cast it into the Sea of Creation. You must have guessed it—the golden law before you is me. I am also a cosmic law born after the universe's creation, possessing a hazy consciousness. Naturally, I refused to fade into the chaos of the Sea of Creation, so I escaped...

Though it was just a principle, Joe Di could imagine how difficult it was for the Golden Principle to escape.

I fled for billions of years, traversed countless planes, crossed innumerable realms, passed through one void after another... Until today, I finally understood—even an ant could trap me with a Fivefold Elemental Sealing Array. To keep escaping was meaningless; even staying in the Cosmic Membrane Fragment was just clinging to existence.

This was a cosmic law that left the Cosmos Lord for the sake of freedom. Joe Di couldn't help but feel a bit of respect.

The Golden Principle continued its message: If your only goal is to become stronger, then there's no point in me staying by your side. After all these years, I'm tired. Hiding in the Cosmic Membrane Fragment, the end is still being refined by someone else. So, I plan to dissolve into the chaos of the universe and fade away.

"But what if I want immortality?" Joe Di suddenly shouted.

The Golden Principle sent another message: "In the vast universe, the only immortal I know of is the Cosmos Lord. If you seek immortality, you must kill the Cosmos Lord."

Joe Di sneered, "You're just trying to get me to throw myself against a wall. You're only a principle discarded by the Cosmos Lord, and you're already so powerful. Me, kill the Cosmos Lord? I probably couldn't even die properly. But let me be clear—I don't need some Lord to control my fate. Whether I attain immortality or not, my destiny is mine to command."

The Golden Principle replied calmly, "Let me correct you: I am simply a cosmic law born at the universe's creation, not something belonging to the Cosmos Lord. I can wait for you for ten million years. If you can master your own destiny, I only ask to become a free law in your immortal world. If you fail or fall along the way, I won't seek another; I'll dissolve into countless cosmic laws and vanish into the vast universe."

Joe Di said solemnly, "Alright, I accept. If I succeed in mastering my destiny and one day stand on equal footing with the Cosmos Lord, I'll help you teach him a lesson. I'll let you swagger before him and tell him he was blind to throw you into the Sea of Creation. If I fail or fall, what you choose to do is beyond my control."

A golden Dao rune rushed into Joe Di's Sea of Consciousness, and suddenly a golden pattern appeared within.

In that moment, Joe Di's understanding of the world's laws sharpened a hundredfold. He was overjoyed—this was the feeling he had once begged the Golden Principle for. Now, at any moment, his grasp of the world's laws was crystal clear.
