Educating My Younger Brother

"Heh heh heh, Sis, I—I still have to rush back and translate that book." Quentin Lin looked at Princess Jade Hayes with a forced grin, feeling a chill run down his spine.

"Quentin, don't think I've forgotten about you exposing Minister Ye in public the other day. You can't just slip away like that." Princess Jade Hayes narrowed her eyes at Quentin Lin.

Quentin Lin shrank his neck and gave a dry laugh. "Sis, it's been days already. Minister Ye has probably forgotten all about it. How about we just let it go?"

"No way. You did something wrong, so you need to admit it." Princess Jade Hayes shook Quentin Lin a few times. "Besides, this is a matter of principle. Quentin, you must accept your punishment."

"I—I just got a little payback, that's all. Besides, he was the one who looked down on me for being young first!" Quentin Lin retorted stubbornly.

"Quentin!" Princess Jade Hayes frowned, her tone growing serious. "You're a doctor—medical ethics are just as important as skill! A doctor's ethics include keeping a patient's secrets. Patients confide in doctors because they trust them. That trust must never be betrayed. Unless absolutely necessary, you must never reveal a patient's privacy. But you? Just because Minister Ye offended you, you blurted out his condition in public. Quentin, tell me, as a healer, do you think that was right?"

Quentin Lin bit his lip, his expression softened, and he hung his head.

Princess Jade Hayes continued, "If a doctor loses a patient's trust, that's a terrible thing. If a patient hides part of their illness out of fear, you could make a mistake in treatment—and that could cost a life! Quentin, don't think I'm making a big deal out of nothing. This is a serious matter of principle, and you must understand that. If you don't honestly apologize to Minister Ye, I'll tell Father and let him teach you what medical ethics really mean."

Hearing that Dr. Rowan Lin might be told, Quentin Lin panicked and quickly admitted his mistake. "Sis, I was wrong! Quentin knows he messed up! I won't blurt things out again, please don't tell Father. I'll go apologize to Minister Ye properly, just don't let Father find out! Otherwise, he'll tan my hide, and not even Mom could stop him!"

"You know you were wrong?" Princess Jade Hayes poked Quentin Lin's cheek.

"Mm, I know." Quentin Lin nodded obediently.

Princess Jade Hayes was finally satisfied. Quentin Lin, at heart, was a good kid—just a bit young and impulsive. With patience and guidance, he'd be fine.

So, under Princess Jade Hayes’s guidance, Quentin Lin obediently prepared a gift. Accompanied by Princess Jade Hayes, he went to Minister Ye’s residence to apologize in person.

Minister Ye was both flattered and surprised—he hadn’t expected Princess Jade Hayes to actually bring Quentin Lin over to apologize.

“It’s really no big deal—oh, how could I possibly accept this?” Minister Ye was at a loss for words, feeling the apology was far too much for such a minor matter.

Princess Jade Hayes said, “The child did something wrong, violating medical ethics, so he ought to come and apologize to learn his lesson. But I have a favor to ask, Minister Ye: tomorrow, when I bring my father to visit your residence, please don’t mention this matter again. Quentin has already recognized his mistake and accepted his punishment—there’s no need for my father to punish him twice.”

Minister Ye quickly replied, “Rest assured, Chancellor Su, I won’t say a word. And please, I wouldn’t dare trouble Dr. Rowan Lin to come here—tomorrow, I’ll pay my respects to him at his residence instead!”
