"Miss, wake up! Miss, wake up..." The same words kept repeating right next to Ivy's ear—so annoying! Who was muttering in her ear like that?
"Didn't she say to only call her when she's awake?" The girl in red glanced at the girl in green, then sat herself down at the vanity and started trying on the jewelry from the table.
The room was decked out with bright red lanterns hanging high, elegant red drapes pooling gracefully on the floor, and huge red candles burning in every corner. The whole place was bursting with wedding vibes.
"But the four husbands are already waiting in the bath," the girl in green frowned.
"Who cares? Even if you wake her up, that idiot could never make it through a wedding night!"
"But even if Miss doesn't get it, aren't there still four husbands?" the girl in green said quickly.
The girl in red snorted. "Lana, do you really think those four guys actually like the Miss? Look at her—her face is caked in makeup like a paint shop, even when she's sleeping! If you were one of the husbands, would you like her?"
"Then... why did the four husbands agree to marry her?" Lana asked, totally confused. From what she could tell, those four men were all super capable—so why would they pick Miss?
"Probably got arranged ages ago. Who else would marry that idiot? Her family must've been loaded back then." The girl in red put down the jewelry, glanced back at Lana, and sighed. "See how unfair the world is? She's dumb, clueless, and boy-crazy, so why does she get all the money and four hot husbands? And her tail..." She trailed off, then shook her leg, and suddenly a smooth, earthen-colored snake tail appeared. "See? My tail's nice and shiny, I spent silver on oil for it!" She shot a mocking look at the girl sleeping in wedding clothes on the bed. "Even with all that money, she's still a cripple." She finished with a smug laugh.
Lana replied softly, "But even if Miss isn't smart, she's really good to us. Especially to you, right? All the maids in this house are managed by you, Sister May." Lana glanced at the girl sleeping in her wedding dress on the bed.
"So what if I manage all the maids? I'm still just a servant. Besides, now all the money's handled by that old geezer—you know how loyal he is to that idiot." May shot a hateful look at the girl on the bed, burning with jealousy. Those four guys were all drop-dead gorgeous, and yet this mess of a girl was the one who got them?
"Can you two shut up?" Ivy finally snapped, opening her eyes wide. What kind of weird dream was this, with people chattering nonstop in her ear? But when she sat up, she froze. Huh? Where was she?
"Miss, you're awake?" Lana hurried over, concerned.
Ivy looked at her, then glanced around the room, totally puzzled. Was this a dream? To check, she pinched her thigh—"Ow!" she yelped. That hurt! If it hurt, it couldn't be a dream... Right? So if it wasn't a dream, then where the heck was she?
"Miss, you need to get up. Your husbands are waiting," May grumbled.
But Ivy didn't even hear May's grumbling. She was too busy asking, "Who are you people? Where am I?"
May rolled her eyes. "Miss, are you acting dumb again? You're the young miss of the Shen family. She's your maid Lana, and I'm the head maid, May." May really emphasized 'head maid.'
Ivy was completely stunned. A creeping sense of doom rose in her chest. Wait... did she just transmigrate into another world while she was sleeping?!
