Heaven’s Temptation

1/19/2026

After Evan Chu struck with that sword, a sour pain welled up in his heart—a feeling he couldn’t put into words. He’d never felt this way before. There was loss, humiliation, and a sharp ache deep inside.

Victor Chu never expected Evan Chu to suddenly attack him—Evan’s sword came out of nowhere, slashing straight into his body and leaving a massive gash. But strangely, not a single drop of blood spilled. The whole person was sent flying dozens of meters before crashing to the ground, motionless.

Evan’s strike was still Earthsplitter. Using Heaven-Cleave would drain too much Chaos Dragon Force, but he was sure even his Earthsplitter could seriously hurt the other side. After all, this was a sneak attack—no way to defend against it.

Victor Chu lay sprawled on the ground for a moment before crawling up, face twisted with anger as he glared at Evan Chu and shouted, "Evan, what are you doing? I’m your father! How could you go this far against me?"

Evan Chu stared at the huge wound on Victor’s body, but no blood flowed out. He sneered, "Heh, you think a freak like you could pass for my dad? That sword didn’t kill you, so you’re lucky. But from now on, your luck’s run out."

"Evan, I really am your father! What you’re doing is rebellious, unfilial! If you don’t believe me, ask me anything—anything at all. I just don’t want you making a mistake you’ll regret forever," Victor Chu pleaded.

"Oh yeah? Then let me ask you—who’s my mom? What’s her name? Where is she now?" Evan Chu shot back, annoyed. He wanted to see just how much this monster really knew about his private life.

"Why should I tell you your mom’s name? Right now she’s suffering in the Dragon Shrine, waiting for you to rescue her. I just don’t want you treating me this way. If your mom knew, she’d be heartbroken," Victor Chu said, trying to guilt-trip him.

Evan Chu thought to himself, "Impressive, huh? You can actually read my mind. But that alone won’t save your sorry life."

"Heh, you’re wrong. I already rescued my mom ages ago—she’s living it up at Frostbane Sect right now. And you dare say she’s still suffering in the Dragon Shrine? Nice try, but you’re just bluffing," Evan Chu retorted.

"You’re lying! My mom is obviously in the Dragon Shrine. Evan, I know your mom let you down, but you can’t act like this—it’s your responsibility. You have to rescue her, so our family can be together again," Victor Chu insisted.

"I knew you’d say that. Honestly, I said all that on purpose to see if you’d catch my real thoughts. But you’re wrong—I already know you’re not my dad. The illusions in the Land of the Undead are insane—some monsters can read minds. That’s exactly what you are. Too bad I figured you out early, so everything you’ve said is fake."

I really did rescue my mom, and with my current strength, saving her wasn’t even hard. Yet you claim she’s suffering here? You think anyone can just stroll into the Netherworld?

The Four Divine Beasts went through hell just to open the entrance. Without us, not even the strongest people could get in. That alone proves you’re a fake. And there’s something even more obvious—after I wounded you, not a drop of blood came out. With a wound that big, you’d know if you were real. So why don’t you drop the act and show your true form? Maybe then I’ll give you a quick death," Evan Chu said coldly.

Victor Chu paused, then grinned, "Heh, didn’t expect you to be so sharp, kid. Since you’ve seen through me, I won’t bother hiding anymore. Die!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Victor Chu’s body twisted and transformed into a mountain-sized Wraithbeast, looming over Evan Chu, jaws wide open as if he wanted to swallow Evan whole.

Evan Chu’s eyes widened for a moment. This thing called itself a Wraithbeast, but it wasn’t quite right. Half its body had no skin or flesh, just snowy-white bones exposed, with waves of energy pulsing above the bone. Clearly, this was a higher-level monster than a Bonewraith.

Evan’s guess was spot on. This monster was a Wraithbeast, spawned from dead Netherbeasts. Its biggest trick was illusions—it could transform into anything and read its target’s thoughts.

Evan Chu flashed aside, dodging the attack, then laughed, "Getting angry now, huh? Your illusions are nothing in front of me, kid. A piece of trash like you dares pretend to be my dad? Eat this!"

He swung the Frostbane Sword, sending out a streak of blue light—a Soul Rend slash. Evan figured Soul Rend would probably do even more damage to the monster than Earthsplitter.

Sure enough, when Soul Rend landed on the monster, its whole body convulsed, looking like it was in agony. It let out a roar that shook the heavens.

"Ha! How’s that taste? That was just the appetizer—now it’s time for the real fun!" Evan Chu laughed, unleashing Earthsplitter at lightning speed.

Boom! With a thunderous crash, Earthsplitter smashed into the monster, sending it flying dozens of meters. Its body was shattered, and it couldn’t get up again.

"Seriously? That’s it? I barely got started!" Evan Chu grinned.

Just then, a white light flashed from the monster’s body and it vanished, leaving behind a single glowing red stone on the ground.

Evan Chu immediately picked up the red stone and slipped it into his storage belt. This Phantasite was almost twice as big as the others—clearly, monsters that could mimic human nature were no joke.

With this experience, Evan found it much easier to handle things going forward. On the way, he ran into illusions of his closest people—Roxanne Lin and Jenny Sima among them—and he didn’t hesitate to cut them down.

But when it came to Jenny Sima, Evan hesitated. The monster had taken on a human form, but its looks were so twisted no one could recognize it. The most outrageous part was that as soon as it appeared, it started yelling at Evan:

"Evan, I’ve always done whatever you wanted, but you won’t even give me a proper title. Out of all your women, I’m the only one with nothing. How am I supposed to face them? Even Serena Dream and Lynn are pregnant with your child—what about me? I’m begging you, even if you won’t make it official, at least let me have your child!"

Evan Chu froze for a second—this was the thing that bothered him most. He owed Jenny Sima more than anyone, and even though he knew the woman in front of him was just a monster in disguise, he couldn’t bring himself to cut her down. That was the real reason.

"Evan, I don’t want anything from you—I just want to have your child. You’re not gonna say no to that, are you? I was one of your first women!" Jenny Sima pleaded.

Evan just stared at her, not sure what to do. Ever since coming to the Netherworld, he hadn’t been close with a woman for ages. Jenny Sima’s face was full of longing, making it hard to resist.

Suppressing his desire, Evan said, "Why don’t you show your true form? Let me see what kind of monster you really are. My women would never say something like that to me."

"Heh, Evan, you’re so full of it. I know exactly what you’re thinking. Want to see my body? You haven’t touched me in ages," Jenny Sima teased.

She started stripping, one piece of clothing after another vanishing, and in a flash she was standing stark naked in front of Evan Chu. Her body was identical to Jenny Sima’s—every curve and secret spot, even the mysterious black forest was lush, hiding everything but leaving plenty to the imagination.

Evan Chu swallowed hard. This monster’s illusion skills were insane—if he didn’t know this was fake, he might’ve jumped her without a second thought.

"Evan, snap out of it! You actually like this kind of woman? Sure, she’s imitating a human girl, but if you saw her real face you wouldn’t be able to eat for three days," Luna warned.

Evan Chu felt his whole body shudder. If this kept up, he might really lose control. He knew it was fake, but his Pure Yang Qi kept surging inside him.

"You think you can pull this crap on me? You’re underestimating Evan Chu! I’ve never killed a naked woman before, but today you’ll be the first!" Evan roared, swinging the Frostbane Sword and unleashing a devastating Heaven-Cleave.

Afraid he’d lose his mind to her seduction, Evan unleashed Heaven-Cleave with full force. The attack was so powerful and sudden that the monster disguised as Jenny Sima didn’t have time to react—she was split in two by the sword.

A massive crack opened up on the ground, stretching dozens of meters. The monster reverted to its true form—a wrinkled, white-haired old hag, uglier than words could describe. Just like Luna said, if Evan had slept with her, he wouldn’t have been able to eat for three days.

Evan Chu felt a chill down his spine. Without Luna’s warning, he might’ve really fallen for it. The illusion was way too realistic, and it even knew all his secrets—there was no way to tell it was fake.

After the old hag died, she left behind another Phantasite. Evan put it straight into his storage ring. Now he’d collected more than a dozen Phantasites—a pretty decent haul.

"Evan, you’ve got enough Phantasite now. Flying shouldn’t be a problem—give it a try," Luna said.

Evan Chu focused, and his whole body shot into the air. He didn’t get why Phantasite worked even when stored in his belt, but it was weird—and kind of cool.

He instantly used Shifting Position, vanishing hundreds of miles away. Not far off, he spotted two Ghost Clan cultivators locked in a fierce battle.

"Finally found some Ghost Clan guys. Time to grab some tokens," Evan Chu grinned, sneaking toward the fighting pair...
