Ascension Tribulation Lightning

1/19/2026

After Evan Chu tucked Roxanne Lin's monster-beast egg into his storage ring, he flew back down. Everyone stared at him, stunned—Roxanne Lin was the Vermilion Bird Saintess, after all, but now she’d become a monster-beast egg. No one could wrap their heads around it.

Evan’s heart was in chaos. The Violet Thunder Fox had dropped her cultivation and turned herself into a monster-beast egg just to follow him to the Immortal Realm, and Roxanne Lin had risked her life for Phoenix Nirvana just to do the same. Things no one could accept had happened anyway. The weight of this affection was way too heavy.

"I know you’re all wondering why Roxanne ended up like this. She did it just to follow me to the Immortal Realm. I know if any of you could, you’d take the same risk—but I don’t want that. If any of you got hurt, I’d never forgive myself. If you want to reach the Immortal Realm, then grind hard! Seclude yourselves again and again, and I believe one day you’ll make it. When that day comes, we’ll all be together." Evan Chu said.

"You’re right, Evan. If I had a way like Roxanne to be with you, I’d do it in a heartbeat. But we’re just powerless. We’ll work our tails off at cultivation—someday we’ll ascend and see you in the Immortal Realm." Selena Yale said.

"Selena, take care of my parents—and our son, Ye Tian. Raise him to be a real man. I know you can do it," Evan Chu said.

"Evan, you sound like you’re giving us your last words. Are you planning to ascend today?" Jenny Sima asked, her voice tight.

"I think I’ve got two days left. Let me spend them with you. I don’t want to get all heavy—spring nights are short, life is fleeting. How about one last wild night together before I go?" Evan Chu grinned, trying to lift their spirits out of the gloom.

"Who wants a wild night with you? I’m on my period—count me out. Me too, me too!" Serena Dream, Lynne Nie, and Claire Ouyang all blurted, claiming they were ‘unclean,’ leaving Evan Chu totally speechless.

Lily Tang and Rhea Yang had gone into seclusion as soon as Evan Chu left Frostbane Sect for Divine Dragon Valley, and still hadn’t come out. Now only Selena Yale and Jenny Sima were left. Evan glanced at them and teased, "Looks like the others are leaving the fun to you two. Tonight, let’s make it earth-shattering!"

Both women blushed and nodded. With parting so close, this warmth was what they needed most—and what they craved most. That night became another memory, sweet and almost unbearable.

Happiness always feels fleeting. Evan Chu spent his days with Dominic Chu and Celine Tang, and the rest of his time with his women. He even visited Lily Tang and Rhea Yang during their secluded cultivation—naturally, unable to resist a round of earth-shaking passion with each. But he never told them about his upcoming ascension.

In a flash, the day of ascension arrived. Evan felt his suppressed power surging uncontrollably—he knew the moment had come. He emptied his storage ring of every Starstone, piling them high in his room until the whole place overflowed with dazzling energy.

He also wrote a letter to Selena—the demon princess—since she hadn’t returned from the Demonic Realm and he had no time to visit her before leaving. He asked her to forgive him, and urged all his women to cultivate hard, especially helping Zack Zhao and Gus Bullard strengthen themselves. That night, after sending Serena Dream, Lynne Nie, and Claire Ouyang to the peak of happiness, he quietly slipped back to his own room—he didn’t want anyone to see his ascension. That kind of farewell would be too heartbreaking.

When he sensed the time was up, Evan stepped outside, shot into the sky, and teleported straight to a remote mountain peak. There, he unleashed all his suppressed cultivation—his realm instantly rocketed back to Earth Immortal.

Immediately, black clouds rolled in overhead—tribulation clouds. Evan knew this was the Lightning Tribulation, the last hurdle before ascending to the Immortal Realm. He barely batted an eye.

Soon, the tribulation clouds thickened, the pressure so intense it felt suffocating. Evan could sense it—the real fireworks were about to begin.

Evan soared higher, ready to face the lightning head-on. With his Thunder Spirit Body, ordinary lightning was nothing to him. After a long wait, a fiery red bolt ripped through the sky and crashed down—Evan caught it with ease, feeling only a pleasant, tingling sensation, almost like a massage.

Not long after, a second bolt came down—this one blue, a water-type thunder. Evan absorbed it just as easily, barely feeling a thing.

The next three bolts weren’t much stronger—Evan took them all head-on. Staring up at the thickening clouds, he muttered, “Are these just appetizers? The real show’s gotta be coming. That next bolt—bet it’ll be a monster.”

The words were barely out of his mouth before a bolt as thick as a barrel appeared overhead. Evan’s eyes narrowed—he’d called it. He hurriedly circulated thunder elements through his body, hoping to resonate with the incoming strike and soften the blow.

Good plan, but reality was brutal. The lightning smashed Evan out of the sky, slamming him into the ground and blasting out a massive crater. He crawled up, glanced at himself, and just shook his head.

His whole body was charred black, wounds torn open everywhere. Even with his Thunder Spirit Body, that lightning was just too fierce—pain wracked him, and it felt like even his soul had been scorched.

“Damn, if you weren’t coming, just don’t come! But when you do, you gotta go this hard? Lucky I’m tough, or that bolt would’ve fried me. There’s gotta be one last strike, right? Once I get through that, I’ll finally see what the Immortal Realm is like. Hope it’s worth the hype.” Evan grumbled.

Just then, the tribulation clouds churned madly, almost like they couldn’t believe Evan had survived that last bolt. A vortex formed in the center, the clouds spinning faster and faster, lightning crackling inside.

As the vortex spun, the whole sky twisted. Evan felt the terror of the next strike and cursed, “Hell, you couldn’t kill me last time, so now you’re out for revenge? Fine, bring it on—let’s see what you’ve really got!”

He’d barely finished speaking when, in the space of a few breaths, a lightning bolt several meters wide erupted from the vortex and blasted down at him. Seeing it, Evan shouted, “Guess this is where I die!”
