Cornered Beasts

The fleet slowly descended, and the massive beams of light it cast turned the mountains below as bright as day.

Beneath the shade of green leaves, countless demon outcasts lay hidden.

All around the warship, the Skyward Legionnaires stared intently, scrutinizing every movement on the ground. Even General Zhuo leaned over the railing, carefully surveying the scene through his thousand-mile scope.

Yet, due to the distance, they discovered nothing.

At this moment, if anything unusual occurred on the ground, General Zhuo would immediately order the entire fleet to ascend and withdraw from the area.

In fact, deep down, he hoped for something unusual to happen, so he could end this risky venture sooner. This forced adventure was only to avoid the stigma of abandoning his comrades.

The intense light swept across the main battlefield, where corpses of both Skyward Legionnaires and demon outcasts lay everywhere. Blood had already stained every blade of grass and tree red.

Amidst the scattered remains, hundreds of Skyward Legionnaires formed a battle formation, struggling to fend off the demon outcasts who attacked them from time to time.

Most of the surviving Skyward Legionnaires were covered in blood; many couldn't even stand, barely clinging to life. But with few demon outcasts left around them, this battered squad had managed to survive until now.

Looking outward, there were about five or six hundred demon outcasts surrounding the Skyward Legionnaires. They seemed to be in much better shape than the celestials, but apparently lacked leadership, making it difficult to organize an effective assault.
