So Clever for Someone So Young

Quentin Lian smiled and said, "When you go inside, if you see the person imprisoned there... just help me check if she's doing okay, maybe take her pulse or something."

"Take her pulse?" Lucia Lu exclaimed. "Isn't she supposed to be super dangerous? Won't she kill me?"

Quentin Lian said, "She's still human, she won't hurt people for no reason."

"But aren't you the one who locked her up? Maybe she won't hurt anyone else, but she'll definitely want to kill your daughter—me!"

Quentin Lian said, "Honestly, she only attacked the Radiant Palace back then because she was angry in the moment. She actually regrets it now! Don't worry, she definitely won't hurt you."

"Oh..." Lucia Lu was still a little scared, but figured her Divine Father wouldn't send her into danger, so she agreed, "Alright!"

Inside the array, it was even colder than outside.

The cold was bone-deep, freezing her to the core.

She could hear the sound of running water.

She followed the sound, walking through a series of caves.

Finally, she found the source of the water—it was probably leaking down from the Heavenly Pool Lake above, trickling endlessly.

Not far from the water, there was a stone cave with a faint blue glow inside.

Lucia Lu took a deep breath and mustered her courage to walk over.

She peeked inside the cave and saw a Sigil Pillar glowing blue.

Two sigil-chains hung from the pillar, binding a person's hands and feet.

That person... was actually a woman.

Lucia had always assumed that the so-called 'Great Fiend' everyone talked about—if not hideous, would at least look as fierce as that demon beast who barged into the temple, right?

But she never expected the prisoner to be such a delicate-looking woman.

She wore a plain white robe with no patterns, no makeup, no jewelry, sitting cross-legged and floating in midair.

She looked so serene and otherworldly, beautiful enough to seem unreal.

"She's actually a total beauty... and my Divine Father wants me to take her pulse..." Lucia's mind instantly started racing. "Wait, could she and my father have some kind of history?"

Just as she was thinking that, a Golden Immortal Swallow the size of a hawk shot out of the cave.

It darted straight for her eyes.

Lucia dodged and couldn't help feeling thrilled.

So the Golden Immortal Swallow really lives in this cave!

There must be a Golden Immortal Swallow Nest in here!

"Little Swallow, come back," the Great Fiend called out, her voice gentle as could be.

The Golden Immortal Swallow rolled its eyes at Lucia, then lazily flew back into the cave.

Lucia followed it inside and respectfully greeted the Great Fiend: "Senior! I'm Quentin Lian's daughter—Lucia Lu."

She glanced at the big swallow nest in the cave and grinned, "I'm here looking for the Golden Immortal Swallow Nest! My Divine Father told me to help you check your pulse and see how your health is, too."

The woman didn't answer her.

Lucia looked up and saw the woman staring right at her, unblinking.

Her gaze was strange—at once distant, yet like a deep black vortex that could swallow you whole.

"Uh... Senior?" Lucia called out. "I was wondering... may I check your pulse for you?"

The woman lowered her gaze, smiled faintly, and asked, "Is your Divine Father well?"

Lucia's heart skipped a beat.

She couldn't shake the feeling that this simple greeting was full of murderous intent.

She swallowed hard and said, "My Divine Father... isn't doing so well. He often worries about you and your health—that's why he sent me to check your pulse."

The woman smiled, "You're pretty clever for someone so young! Are you afraid I'll hold a grudge against your Divine Father?"

Lucia said, "...No, I'm telling the truth! He really does worry about you."
