Returning to the General's Manor

"Oh dear!" Grace exclaimed, her face full of regret and concern. "You really did break out in those red blotches!"

"Xiaoyu, do you have any way to get rid of these spots?" Cecilia Chen clutched half her face, eyes brimming with tears, on the verge of breaking down.

"Let me take a look, miss." Grace asked her to sit down inside and checked her pulse.

"Well?" Cecilia Chen grew anxious after barely ten seconds. "Xiaoyu, if you can heal my face, I'll do anything for you! I'll be your sworn sister, and you'll never have to be a maid again—"

Grace quickly interrupted her: "Miss Cecilia, don't worry. Actually, I do have a way to cure your face."

Are you kidding? She'd gone through all this trouble and scheming just to come back as a maid, and now you want her to quit?

"Really?" Cecilia Chen's eyes lit up instantly.

Grace nodded. "But it'll take some time."

"How long will it take?"

"About half a month," Grace replied.

Actually, she had a way to make the red blotches on her face disappear immediately.

But she had to drag the process out a bit longer.

If she somehow angered Evan Xiao, that cold-faced killer, she could use this as a shield—a life-saving card.

If possible, she’d even like to stretch the healing time to half a year or a whole year.

But her antidote just couldn’t manage that.

If the dosage was too small, it wouldn’t work at all.

With the right dosage, the spots would disappear in about half a month.

So, she could only say half a month.

"Half a month, and it’ll be completely gone, without a trace?" Cecilia Chen asked, touching her face.

Grace nodded. "Completely gone. Not a single trace left!"

"That’s wonderful!" Cecilia Chen grabbed her hands, crying with gratitude. "Xiaoyu, you’re like a fairy sent by heaven to save me!"

Grace’s eyes flickered, feeling a bit guilty.

Don’t look at me like that!

I’m scheming hard to steal your beloved’s heart…

After watching Cecilia Chen take the antidote, Grace excused herself and returned to Frostmoon Quarters.

Now that she was back, she had to replace Ruby and become the head maid.

She had been one of the four main maids before, but she was only in charge of serving tea.

Except for tea-serving occasions, she normally couldn’t serve Evan Xiao directly.

That day, she’d barely managed to set up a scheme to drug Evan Xiao, but it backfired and nearly got her killed…

But as the head maid, she could serve at any time and create opportunities to be alone with Evan Xiao.

Evan Xiao often gave orders only to the head maid, and the other maids followed her lead.

In short, only as the head maid could she truly shine!

Grace’s adorable big eyes sparkled with maturity and calculation beyond her years. She pulled out Ruby’s promissory note from her pocket and glanced at it, grinning with satisfaction.

Back in Frostmoon Quarters, Grace happily called out in the courtyard, "Ruby, Lily, Anna, I’m back!"

The three maids already knew she was back, and that it was Evan Xiao himself who had brought her home.

Hearing her voice, the three came out. Ruby’s face was stormy, and she said coldly, "You really have the nerve to come back!"

"Ruby, what are you saying?" Grace raised an eyebrow. "How am I shameless for coming back? I was about to work for another household, but the General—mm hmm, the General came to my house himself and personally brought me back to treat Miss Cecilia’s face."
