Limb Replacement, A Doctor Changes Fate

2/14/2026

When Serena Feng first inspected the room, she found nothing amiss. But after she stepped out and came back in, everything had changed. This was, after all, a cabin rebuilt by Ninth Royal Uncle Nolan—Serena had never been involved. How could Nolan possibly pass up such an opportunity to uncover Serena Feng’s secret?

Serena guarded her medical skills with extreme secrecy. Even the smallest glimpse would leave others astounded. Most people believed what Sun Zhengdao said—that Serena was a disciple of Divine Healer Valley. But Nolan knew perfectly well that Serena’s medical expertise was a tremendous secret, and he had always wanted to uncover it. What he hadn’t expected was...

This secret was so shocking that, had he not witnessed it himself, Nolan couldn’t even have imagined it.

Serena would never have dreamed that the secret of her Smart Med‑Pack would be exposed by the very mirrors she had previously commissioned Vincent Su to create. If she had known this day would come, Serena Feng would never have handed over the formula for those mirrors, not even if her life depended on it.

Unfortunately, at this moment Serena was wholly absorbed in the operation. She didn’t notice the mirrors hidden in the corners of the walls, the ceiling, or even outside.

Nolan stood inside the wooden cabin, watching Serena Feng in the mirror. She kept pressing a small device on her arm, and each time, something appeared—items he had never seen before.

Nolan watched as Serena used those strange instruments to amputate Prince Titus of Lyndaria’s ruined limb, and then transfused blood into him.

Bright red blood flowed, bit by bit, through the transparent tubing into Prince Titus’s body. Yet Titus lay there like a corpse, completely unresponsive.

The blood had nothing to do with Nolan, but he couldn’t help feeling as if it were his own blood Serena was draining. As the blood bag emptied, Nolan’s heart grew colder and colder.

“Serena Feng, what kind of person are you? What is that thing on your arm? Are you even human?” Nolan’s fists clenched tight, afraid that in his fury he would smash the mirror in front of him.

Serena Feng had deceived him—and the entire world. If he hadn’t used the mirrors’ reflections today to spy on the room, Nolan would never have discovered the secret of Serena’s arm. That tiny device could somehow produce all those bizarre items.

It was terrifying—truly terrifying!

“Could this be the power of the Phoenixfield Clan? Impossible. If it were, Serena’s father would surely know something.” Nolan desperately searched for a reason behind the Smart Med‑Pack on Serena’s arm, only to dismiss every possibility he came up with.

“If it’s not the power of the Phoenixfield Clan, then who is Serena Feng?” The more Nolan thought, the colder his heart grew. He had always believed that no one in the world understood Serena better than he did. And yet...

Ha ha ha...

Bang—Nolan slammed his fist into the wall behind the mirror. The wooden wall trembled, a faint crack appeared, and blood smeared the surface. His fist was covered in splinters, but Nolan seemed not to feel any pain at all.

All the signs pointed to one thing: the person in front of him was not the real Serena Feng. The true Serena Feng had long since died.

Of course, there was another possibility: the Serena Feng from before was just a decoy. This Serena was the true Phoenixfield Heiress, fully aware of her own identity and here to avenge her clan.

Serena Feng spent her first fifteen years in obscurity, known throughout the capital as timid and incompetent. But overnight, her temperament changed completely, stunning the entire Imperial City.

She’d been silent for so long, but when she finally made her move, it was earth‑shattering. Everyone believed Serena’s dramatic change was due to her broken engagement, but in truth, she was never Serena Feng at all.

I was too close to see the truth. Even a broken engagement couldn’t have changed someone’s personality so drastically. The sad part is, I kept making excuses for you. Now, looking back, those reasons seem laughable.

Serena Feng, oh Serena Feng, you truly are formidable. You managed to fool us all. I truly want to know—who are you, what is your goal, and most importantly, what is that thing on your arm?

The more Serena drew out from her Smart Med‑Pack, the colder Nolan’s smile became.

There was no helping it—the device on Serena’s arm was simply too bizarre for anyone to accept. No matter how unique Serena usually acted, nothing compared to the shock of the Smart Med‑Pack.

Nolan was almost certain: the device on Serena’s arm was absolutely one-of-a-kind. Not even the famed Mo Artificer Guild, masters of mechanical marvels, could have crafted something so exquisite. What mattered most was that everything Serena pulled out—he’d never seen anything like it.

......

Serena had no idea that Nolan was watching her every move from the next cabin. She focused solely on her work: amputating the withered lower leg, managing the blood vessels and wound, then taking out a prosthetic. After calibrating it, she began installing it for Prince Titus of Lyndaria.

The prosthetic Serena installed for Prince Titus wasn’t the usual kind with a separated foot and body—it was the latest military model, designed to fuse with living tissue for greater mobility. With this prosthesis, the patient could almost live like a normal person, though the procedure was much more complex.

The blood vessels were so fine that, even with the bright indoor lighting, Serena still couldn’t see clearly. So she took a microscope out of her Smart Med‑Pack and used it to suture the tiny vessels.

She kept her head down, working tirelessly. Occasionally she’d look up just to wipe the sweat from her brow, but her hands never stopped—scalpel, forceps, clamps. Serena’s dedication and effort were plain to see, even to Nolan outside the room.

Something inside Nolan suddenly softened. As he watched Serena’s focused dedication, his anger slowly faded. Calming down, he realized that everything inside Serena’s device was meant to save lives. She had never used it to harm anyone; even when she killed, it was only because she was forced.

The secret on Serena’s arm—if she wished, she could hide it for a lifetime. But she was soft-hearted, and again and again, she used it to save others.

“Serena Feng, what am I supposed to do with you? I thought I understood you, believed only you were worthy to stand at my side. But now I’m not so sure. I can’t let a woman I don’t truly know stand so close to me.”

Bang—

Nolan punched the mirror, shattering it. His fist was already bloody, but now it looked even more frightening, shards of glass embedded in the flesh.

Yet Nolan didn’t even glance at his hand. He simply collapsed into a chair.

He needed to think. He needed to think carefully about how to face Serena Feng, and what place she should have in his life.

Now Nolan was certain: this Serena Feng was not the same timid, incompetent girl from the Imperial City. The woman he loved was this Serena, but she was shrouded in mysteries.

Even if Nolan could accept that the Smart Med‑Pack was just a tool for saving lives, he still couldn’t shake the unease in his heart. Until he fully understood that device, he could never completely trust Serena Feng...
