Caleb Miles's words landed like a bomb, leaving everyone too stunned to respond.
"What? How is that even possible? So... is there any way to save him?" For the first time, Ivy's brain short-circuited. She had zero clue how to deal with this poisonous snake who'd just dragged her back from the edge of death.
"Unless..." Caleb Miles hesitated, unsure how to continue.
"Unless what?" Ivy hurriedly pressed, while everyone else stared wide-eyed, waiting for his answer.
"The poison you were exposed to is yin-type, but the one that Lucian Vane was hit with is yang-type. Now that they've combined, they've turned into a super-strong aphrodisiac. To detoxify it, unless... Unless a man and woman join together, only then can the toxin be forced out." Caleb Miles finally blurted it out.
At those words—"man and woman join together"—everyone fell silent. Adrian Night glanced at Ivy with a complicated look; no one knew what he was thinking at that moment.
"Wife—quick, save Lucian!" Liam Willow blurted, pure-hearted as ever. In his mind, everyone here was already her husband, so if Lucian needed a wedding night to survive, then what’s the holdup?!
"Liam..." Colin Kerr was so gobsmacked by his generosity, he almost dropped his jaw. Liam Willow clearly adored Ivy, yet here he was, volunteering his beloved to another guy like it was no big deal...
"Think it over. If you're up for it, we'll need to find a safe spot." Caleb Miles said, then walked out. He knew Ivy seemed to have a force field against all of them—she'd even handed out divorce papers before, so yeah, that said it all.
Seeing this, Ivy looked at Lucian Vane, who was suffering in the pool. For the first time, her heart fluttered. The first time she'd met him, she'd thought he was breathtakingly beautiful. But when she learned he was a snake—a poisonous snake—she'd been terrified and resistant.
But during those days when they forced her to wander the Jianghu, Lucian Vane was the one who bickered with her the most, who always scared her but never truly hurt her, and who made her laugh more than anyone else.
She had no idea she'd experienced so much in this short time, nor when Lucian Vane started caring for her enough to risk his life.
Her long-defended, brick-walled heart actually fluttered. Was she seriously considering accepting him?! (Somebody slap me, am I hallucinating?)
"Hurry, that woman is coming!" Just as Ivy hesitated, Caleb Miles rushed over, shouting at them.
"You take care of her!" Adrian Night barked at Caleb Miles, then dove into the pool, ignoring the burns Lucian Vane gave him, and quickly helped him escape.
"You... you..." Liam Willow tried to think of something savage to say, but after a few seconds of brain freeze, all he managed was, "You're awful! Way too awful!"
Colin Kerr was so smitten by Liam Willow's pure dumb honesty, he just stood there, totally dazed.
"Demoness, what do you want?" Colin Kerr barked, then hurriedly shielded Liam Willow behind him, afraid he'd get hurt.
"What do I want? Didn't I make it very clear before?" Poison Silver Consort laughed wildly, as if mocking Colin Kerr for asking such a stupid question.
"You..." Stunned by her words, Colin Kerr was instantly speechless.
"So hot... it hurts..." Lucian Vane, cradled in Adrian Night's arms, was burning up, his face growing paler and his body heavier by the second.
Seeing this, Silver Consort arched a brow. "Well, well. The heir of a legendary poison doctor can't even withstand my silver needles? How disappointing. Looks like your family should just close up shop!"
"He's only like this because he saved me!" Unable to bear Silver Consort's taunts, Ivy finally stepped forward.
"Saved you?" Silver Consort looked at Lucian Vane, then burst out laughing. "Ha! Heaven really is helping me. Who would've thought you'd get poisoned by my carefully-raised blood deer? Normally, touching it wouldn't hurt you, but you're a woman—do you know how I raised that deer?"
"Let me tell you—every day, that blood deer drinks the dirty blood from women's periods, and I mix all sorts of poisons into it. So, the moment a woman touches it, she's basically dead. What I didn't expect is that this guy knew saving you would kill him, but he did it anyway. Who would've thought he cares about you that much? Honestly, I don't see what anyone finds attractive about you!" She eyed Ivy up and down.
Silver Consort's words stunned Ivy again. She glanced at the delirious Lucian Vane; her heart suddenly ached. Save him—yes, she had to save him! No matter what!
"Colin Kerr, get them out of here—quick!" Adrian Night handed Lucian Vane to Colin Kerr, then turned to Liam Willow. "Protect her, and go with Colin!"
"No!" Ivy quickly objected. She could tell from their injuries that they weren't a match for Silver Consort. Staying behind was basically suicide.
"Enough! Spare me the touching heroics. You can cultivate your love on the road to the underworld!" Silver Consort sneered, then lunged forward with her slender fingers.
Bang, bang! Two loud explosions—white smoke billowed up again, and Caleb Miles yanked everyone aside like a pro.
"What did you just throw?" Colin Kerr couldn't help but ask as they ran.
"Just something I picked up down south."
"So useful! Lend it to me next time!"
"Ah!" As soon as Colin Kerr finished speaking, a cascade of white hair swept toward them from afar, moving so fast everyone froze in shock.
"This is my turf. Did you really think you could escape?" Silver Consort's face was grim—clearly, she was not happy about that white smoke trick.
"You... you..." Liam Willow desperately tried to come up with a curse, and after a few seconds, managed to squeeze out, "You're awful! Too awful!"
Colin Kerr was so taken with Liam Willow's honest expression that he stared at him in a daze.
"Stop!" Suddenly, Silver Consort roared, glaring at Caleb Miles. "Are you going to keep throwing those?"
At her words, Caleb Miles pocketed the smoke bombs, slowly stepped in front of everyone, looked up at her, and said, word by word, "I beg you, let them go... Aunt."
