Tideshore District

Jade Orchid Bar was located in Tideshore District.

When the car stopped, Lynn Chen pushed open the door and got out.

"Hurry up!" Lynn Chen snapped, glaring at Evan Lin's laid-back attitude, her anger rising.

She pulled out her phone and called Yolanda Fang, but no one picked up.

"No answer!" Lynn Chen's heart skipped a beat, a sense of dread creeping in as she rushed into the bar.

Inside the bar, lights flashed everywhere.

Colored beams swept back and forth, music booming.

On the dance floor, young men and women threw themselves into the beat, letting loose their inner passion.

At the bar, a young bartender was flair-tending with cocktail bottles, flipping them through the air with practiced ease.

The moment Lynn Chen walked in, plenty of eyes turned her way.

Lynn Chen had a kind of delicate cuteness to her, a hint of innocence that made her stand out from the crowd of mature, scantily clad women—she had her own unique appeal.

Her face anxious, Lynn Chen searched all around but couldn't find Yolanda Fang.

She hurried over to the bar and knocked on the counter.

"Hey pretty lady, what can I get you?" The bartender glanced at Lynn Chen, a flash of surprise in his eyes.

"Did you see a girl here just now? About my height, light yellow hair, probably drinking alone." Lynn Chen pressed him for info.

The bartender paused, eyes flickering, then shook his head: "No idea. Tons of girls come here every day, no clue which one you mean. And yellow hair? There are plenty of those."

Lynn Chen grew more anxious, dialed Yolanda Fang's number again, but this time, a ringtone sounded right nearby.

Following the sound, Lynn saw a scrawny man at the bar pull a phone from his pocket, glance at it, and decisively hang up—cutting off her call.

It was Yolanda Fang's phone!

Lynn Chen strode straight over to the skinny guy, planting herself in front of him, eyebrows furrowing: "Why do you have my friend's phone? What did you do to Yolanda Fang? Where is she?!"

The scrawny man had been drinking. With his sharp features and sleazy look, he froze when the cute girl suddenly stood in front of him and started scolding him. Then he grinned. "Hey pretty, what's the fuss? What phone are you talking about? No idea. Want a drink with me instead?"

"Drink? My ass! I saw everything—you did something to Yolanda Fang!" Lynn Chen was frantic. Yolanda would never just leave her phone behind.

And when Yolanda called earlier, her voice had already sounded off.

It had taken thirty minutes by taxi to get here—thirty minutes already!

A bad feeling gnawed at Lynn Chen.

"What did you see, huh? Stop making things up, little girl! Who took your friend's phone? Not me. Leave me alone!" The scrawny man’s face darkened, clearly annoyed, and he turned to leave.

Selling a phone like that could pay for two trips to the massage parlor. The thought made the scrawny man secretly pleased with himself.

"Stop right there!" Lynn Chen, panicking, grabbed his wrist to try and stop him.

"Get lost!" The man snapped, shaking her off hard.

Caught off guard, Lynn Chen stumbled backwards.

Lynn Chen cried out, bracing for a hard fall—when suddenly she felt a warm support beneath her.

Evan Lin caught her with one hand, then strode toward the scrawny man, his face expressionless.

"What do you think you're doing!" The scrawny man yelled as Evan approached. "Listen up, punk, don't mess with me! Piss me off and I'll break you!"

"I'm not someone you can push around! Name's Little Huang, remember it!"

Evan walked right up, saying nothing. He reached out, grabbed the man's neck, hoisted him up, and smashed him onto a nearby table.

"Aaargh!"

Little Huang crashed through the table. Evan stepped forward, grabbed the dazed man, and slammed him onto another table.

"Aaargh!"

Nearby, a few flashy women gasped, faces blanching in shock.

On the other side, Evan grabbed Little Huang's neck again, then seized his right hand and bent his fingers back viciously.

He bent the man's fingers all the way back—one hundred and eighty degrees—snapping all five cleanly.

"Aaaah! Aaah!"

Little Huang whimpered in agony, his sharp face twisted in pain. "What do you want from me? Aaah!"

He thrashed helplessly in Evan's grip. After being slammed around and having all five fingers broken, he felt like he was about to die.

"Where'd you get that phone? Where's the girl?"

Evan's voice was icy, his gaze colder still.

"The phone... I just picked it up at the bar five minutes ago! I don't know where the girl is, I just got here! I'm sorry, bro, I'm sorry!" Little Huang's voice was hoarse with pain, his face twisted in fear.

Evan didn't say another word. He tossed Little Huang into the air, then, just before he hit the ground, sent him flying with a brutal kick to the gut.

Little Huang flew more than ten meters, crashing into the dance floor and sparking another round of shocked screams.

Without sparing a glance at the pale-faced Lynn Chen, Evan turned and headed straight for the bar.

"What can I get you, handsome?" The bartender eyed Evan, his tone playful.

"Where did the girl sitting here five minutes ago go?" Evan asked flatly, eyes locked on the bartender.

"No idea." The bartender raised an eyebrow, looking at Evan with open disdain. "But let me give you some advice: this is Jade Orchid Bar, a Lewis family business. If you're planning to make trouble, you'd better think twice about your own weight."

"Otherwise, who knows—maybe the world will be missing one more person by morning."

With that, the bartender started flair-tending again, spinning three cocktail bottles. "The security here will be over soon. If you’re smart, you’ll run now—otherwise, you might not even know how you died."

Before he could finish, he suddenly noticed a hand appear in front of him.

Evan's right hand shot out, grabbing a bottle in midair.

Smash—

Bang—

Smash—

Bang—

Three times—

Bang—

In a split second, Evan smashed all three bottles over the bartender's head.

The bartender froze, mind wiped blank, caught completely off guard.

Then suddenly, he felt a hand clamp around his neck.

In that instant, the aura of death flooded over him, drowning him completely.
