Killing With a Glance

1/5/2026

"What the hell are you doing?" Right now, Ryan Ling's blood was pumping; he rushed forward and grabbed Kevin Lee to support him.

Kevin Lee wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. Seeing Ryan, he forced a smile and said, "Brother Feng, I didn't embarrass you, did I?"

As soon as Kevin finished speaking, he passed out cold.

Instantly, Ryan clenched his fist, his gaze turning murderous as he stared at the attackers.

"So you're that little bastard Ryan Ling, huh? What's with the death glare? Wanna hit me? Go on, if you've got the guts!" The attacker finished, then burst out laughing like a maniac.

"You must have a death wish!" Ryan's face flushed red, rage practically pouring out of him.

But Ryan didn't say another word. He gritted his teeth, glanced at the battered Kevin, then at those smug, violent thugs. Inside, his rage was already burning sky-high.

Ryan froze. Not only was Kevin badly hurt, but Tony Zhang was beaten to a pulp too—a whole arm twisted out of shape, a chunk of flesh torn off his leg. Looking deeper in, several teachers and students were also badly injured.

Back when Drake Long showed up with the Qiu brothers to provoke us, they never went this far. Right now, Ryan was ready to kill.

"Who the hell are these people?" Ryan forced himself to calm down. He needed to figure out what was going on first.

"They're from Wuzhou High School. Word is, they're the new closed-door disciples of Logan Long, Hall Master of the Azure Dragon Society's Mystery Hall. To hype up the martial arts conference, they've been challenging school teams all over Wuzhou since last month—already steamrolled seven or eight cities, never lost once. People say they're killing machines, and that every single one of them has reached the innate level..." Tony Zhang managed to say, then suddenly spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Wuzhou High? Closed-door disciples of Logan Long, Hall Master of the Azure Dragon Society's Mystery Hall?" Hearing those keywords, Ryan's mind raced. In a month, the Jiangdong seven-city martial arts conference would kick off, hosted in Wuzhou—the Dragon family's base. He'd already humiliated Drake Long, so he knew these guys were here just for him.

Ryan had actually been waiting for them. With his current strength, the only one who might give him pause was Logan Long; the rest, he didn't even bother with.

"Enough, I'm bored with these losers. Let me have a go with this so-called Harbor City god-like youth—see if he's really tough or just faking it!" The attacker, not satisfied with beating Strongy, cracked his knuckles and swaggered toward Ryan. The other Wuzhou High guys just watched coldly, their faces full of arrogance, like crushing Ryan would take all of three seconds.

"Enough, stay out of this. Leave it to me—whatever happens next has nothing to do with Harbor City High!" Ryan said, then shot to his feet.

"Ryan, be careful, don't—don't lose your head!" Tony Zhang blurted out, knowing Ryan was about to snap.

But Ryan didn't say another word. He gritted his teeth, glanced at the battered Kevin, then at those smug, violent thugs. Inside, his rage was already burning sky-high.

If this had been a fair challenge, Ryan could've accepted it.

But this kind of bullying, treating people like dirt—Ryan couldn't stand it, especially seeing his brothers and friends collapsed around him.

"You bastard, I'm gonna make you pay for what you did today!" With a thunderous roar, Ryan unleashed a massive force that grabbed the attacker's neck and slowly lifted him off the ground.

At that moment, the guy's face turned beet red as he clawed frantically at his neck. He tried to speak, but no sound came out—his windpipe and vocal cords seemed to have been crushed instantly.

Everyone around, especially the Wuzhou High students who'd been standing around lazily, stared wide-eyed. In that split second, none of them saw Ryan make a move at all.

It seemed like all he did was glare—and somehow, an innate-level expert was lifted into the air as if by magic.

"This little bastard is tough, I'll give him that. Everyone, get in there—save Young Master Qiu! I don't believe he's actually some kind of god!" After a few seconds to recover, the Wuzhou High students finally snapped out of it.

These guys were no ordinary punks—they were the elite chosen by Logan Long from thousands of kids in Harbor City half a year ago. Each one had talent; some even developed inner strength before joining. After six months of brutal training, every single one had broken through to the innate level.

A high school martial arts team made up of powerful innate fighters? That was basically a martial heavenly group.

And they weren't just strong individually—their teamwork made them even deadlier!

In a flash, the remaining team members surrounded Ryan, switching up formations. With these setups, their attack power had to be several times stronger.

Innate qi whipped through the air, and in a few blinks they'd encircled Ryan. The qi was sharp as knives—just a squeeze would shatter even the hardest stone.

No hesitation—break both his arms first, then his legs!" one of the leaders shouted, and instantly all the qi lashed out at once.

Bang bang bang!

It was like a dozen steel wires suddenly snapped toward Ryan.

"Heh, the Innate Steel-Wire Formation—let's see you block this!" The leader smirked, and the setup was even faster and trickier than before. Anyone caught inside was at their mercy.

"Cheap tricks. You think that can touch me?" Ryan sneered. The Wuzhou High kids thought they were clever, but to him their moves were full of holes.

Their so-called strength was nothing compared to Ryan's Purgatory Soul-Suppressing Art—it was worlds apart.

Before their qi could even touch him, Ryan glared again. Instantly, all the qi snapped and flew apart, every strand breaking. The formation members were blasted back as if hit by a massive force, and the attacker in midair was left barely breathing, finally crashing to the ground like a sack of mud.

"No way! Is he really a god?"

"He shattered our formation with a look—no way even our master could do that, right?"

"The rumors are true. No wonder even Young Master Long lost to him. There's no way we can handle someone this terrifying. Qiu's in his hands—forget it, let's back off and not fight him head-on!"

Right now, none of the Wuzhou High kids dared make a move. After all, Ryan hadn't even lifted a finger—he'd killed with just a look, and that was enough to scare most people out of their minds.

"Fine, a wise man doesn’t fight when he’s at a disadvantage!" The leader clenched his fists, clearly struggling, then raised his hand. "Ryan, we get it. We admit defeat. We’ll leave Harbor City High now!"

Ryan couldn’t help but laugh. "Admit defeat and just walk away? What do you think this place is?" he said coldly.

"What? Even after Wuzhou High’s martial heavenly group admits defeat, you still want more? You dare mess with us?" one spoiled rich kid shouted, annoyed.

"Unbelievable. Wuzhou, land of martial virtue, actually produced arrogant jerks like you—beat people half to death and think a sorry will let you walk? Where’s the justice in that?" Ryan was getting angrier, his face turning dark.

"So what do you want? You planning to beat us up too? Sure, you’re tough, but you’d better look close—we’re all from famous Harbor City families, and our master is Logan Long, Hall Master of Azure Dragon Society’s Mystery Hall! I doubt you’ve got the guts to really go at us. We’re leaving right now, let’s see if you dare stop us!" The leader got even cockier, then started walking out.
