When Evan Chu mentioned the Immortal Emperor's Treasure, Nolan Nangong's face flickered with a hint of surprise. After glancing at the three of them, he asked, "You really intend to go take a look?"
"That's right. Judging by your expression, it seems there's some trouble. If it's inconvenient, just forget I mentioned it—no need to take it to heart," Evan Chu said.
"Hahaha! Why wouldn't I want to go? I'm thrilled, honestly—I’ve been waiting for this day a long time. I always hoped we could go together, and now you’re really here. Do you think I’d ever refuse?" Nolan Nangong said.
"Since that's the case, when do you plan to set out? Need to prepare anything, or bring anyone? I think the fewer people the better—just take Blazefire along, and you can arrange the rest yourself," Evan Chu said.
"We'll set out tomorrow. Tonight, let’s rest and recover. I’ve wanted to see this Immortal Emperor's Treasure for ages, but claiming it won’t be easy—we’ll need strong experts to go in with me. Now that you’re here, it’s perfect," Nolan Nangong said.
After a few rounds of drinks, Evan Chu and his two companions were assigned to separate rooms. This was Evan’s idea—since the three of them weren’t officially married yet, he worried he might not be able to restrain himself if they stayed together.
Back in his room, Evan Chu continued absorbing Immortal Essence from his Immortal Crystals. His Chaos Immortal Force had recovered to eighty percent, but he needed to restore it fully—just in case something unexpected happened, he’d have enough strength to protect those he cared about.
The night passed quietly. At dawn, Evan stopped absorbing energy—the Immortal Crystals were running low, with fewer than twenty left in his storage ring. He’d have to use them sparingly from now on.
When Evan stepped out of his room, Yvonne Xuan and the other woman were already outside. Seeing Evan, Yvonne smiled and said, "You fully restored your Chaos Immortal Force last night, didn’t you? This Immortal Emperor’s Treasure is bound to surprise everyone—it’s from an ancient Immortal Emperor, so whether it’s martial arts or artifacts, everything left behind will be incredible."
"Incredible, sure, but it’s definitely dangerous in there too. Why don’t you two stay here and wait for me to come back?" Evan Chu said with a smile.
"You really think that's possible? Have you been itching for a beating lately, telling us to stay behind?" Yvonne Xuan snapped, her old temper flaring up.
Seeing Yvonne Xuan's angry face, Evan Chu said, "I was just joking. If we're going, then let's go—but we all need to be careful."
The three of them arrived at the main hall, where Nolan Nangong, Blazefire Immortal Lord, and an elderly man were already waiting. When Evan Chu entered, Nolan said, "Lin Feng, I’ve brought the Grand Elder along. He’s already at mid-stage Immortal Emperor—a pretty solid helper for us."
Most importantly, he’s skilled in Qimen Dunjia arts and mechanical formations—he’ll be a huge help for us on this trip. You don’t mind, do you?"
"Of course not! Having a talent like that on our side is a blessing—I’m grateful you thought it through, big brother!" Evan Chu laughed.
Blazefire Immortal Lord and the Grand Elder were both startled—no one had ever called the Domain Lord 'big brother' before, let alone treated him like an equal. It was a first in the Immortal Realm.
The Domain Lord of Martial Spirit Dominion was a top late-stage Immortal Emperor—everyone held him in awe. But here, these two acted like friends, with no sense of rank between them at all.
"Then let’s head out. Let’s hope we all make it back safely!" Nolan Nangong said.
Evan Chu had Goldwing reveal his true form, and the six of them hopped onto his back, flying swiftly toward the lake where the Immortal Emperor’s Treasure appeared. The Grand Elder was stunned by their speed and grew even more curious about Evan’s identity.
No one else in the Immortal Realm had ever used a Golden-Winged Roc as a mount before.
Half a day later, the six of them dismounted from Goldwing and stood before a jade-green lake. Nolan Nangong said, "The Immortal Emperor’s Treasure is right beneath this water. No point waiting—let’s go check it out now."
Just as Evan Chu and his group appeared at the lakeside, the figure of Lara Luo (Fairy Luoxia) materialized. "Heading into the lake so soon? At least wait for me, Lin Feng," she called out.
Evan Chu remembered that Lynn Ling had said Fairy Luoxia would be joining them—so she’d arrived early, after all. "Fairy Luoxia, you’re more than welcome. But watch out—if I end up saving a damsel in distress, you’ll have to repay me with yourself," he joked.
Fairy Luoxia hadn’t expected Evan Chu to tease her. "Maybe if you ever get the chance," she replied.
With that, the seven of them dove straight into the lake. Meanwhile, dozens of people appeared on the shore, their message jades flashing with light—the once-peaceful lake would never be the same again.
Evan Chu immediately used Watershift to part the water element around them, opening a path as if they were walking on land. The others were impressed by his ability.
Soon, they reached the lakebed. Scanning with divine sense, they detected faint energy fluctuations three miles away and set off at once, quickly arriving at their destination.
Evan Chu surveyed the area and saw a powerful Light Barrier blocking their way. Not far off stood a stone platform with a keyhole—presumably for the Immortal Emperor’s Treasure.
Evan Chu examined the barrier—it was a Light Barrier. He found it odd that someone could wield light element so masterfully; clearly, this Immortal Emperor was no ordinary figure.
The Light Barrier was invisible to the naked eye, but Evan’s Icefire Eye rendered it useless. With a thought, he attuned to the light element, quickly establishing resonance.
"Big brother, let’s hold off on opening the key for now. Otherwise, a crowd will flood in after us. I can break this barrier—just follow me," Evan Chu said.
Nolan Nangong was shocked. "You can break this barrier? It’s incredibly strong—I tried attacking it once and nearly got seriously hurt."
"Just follow me. It’s a Light Barrier—the light element is the most powerful of the nine elements. Of course it packs a punch, but it doesn’t really affect me. Let’s go!" Evan Chu said.
With a thought, Evan parted the light element, opening a one-meter-wide gap for the group to enter. He was the last to go through, then restored the barrier behind them, blocking out any intruders.
"Lin Feng, you’re incredible! In all the Immortal Realm, you’re the only one I truly admire. Knowing you is my greatest honor," Nolan Nangong said with emotion.
"You flatter me, big brother. Come on, let’s see what the Immortal Emperor’s Treasure is really like," Evan Chu laughed.
