Those pairs of eyes stared at Evan Yang like tigers watching their prey, making sure he didn't try to slip past them.
"Are you really going to block our way?" Lydia Yang asked.
Those people nodded, their meaning clear—they were determined to stand firm. Seeing this, Lydia Yang spoke up, "If that's how it is, then I won't be polite."
With that, Lydia Yang launched her attack. These people clearly weren't her match in strength, but Evan Yang was curious—why did they insist on blocking the way when they lacked the power to do so?
While Evan Yang was deep in thought, several people were already seriously injured. The others retreated step by step, watching Lydia Yang warily. Lydia snorted coldly, "Who else dares to step forward?"
Just then, a loud shout rang out, "Who is causing trouble here?!"
The speaker was a man in armor, his face fierce and intimidating. He let his gaze linger on Evan Yang for a long moment before finally turning back to Lydia Yang.
From the man's expression, Evan Yang could tell he wasn't here with good intentions, so he watched the newcomer curiously.
"Too much of a resemblance," the man muttered to himself. This was none other than Terry Yang's father. Upon hearing that Terry and Lydia Yang had appeared, he rushed over and arrived just in time, hence his loud shout.
"Big Brother, these are your people. They're not letting us pass—what's the meaning of this?" Lydia Yang asked.
Big Brother? Evan Yang now knew who the man before him was—Terry Yang's father.
"I haven't asked you yet! Why are you breaking our Yang Clan's rules? Don't you know outsiders aren't allowed to enter as they please?" the man shouted.
Lydia Yang had anticipated this, so she sneered, "Big Brother, who isn't considered Yang Clan? Give me your reasoning."
"Him! Can you really say he's Yang Clan? Who can prove it? Is it your Second Brother, crawling out to tell you?" the man snorted coldly.
Lydia Yang snapped, "He is Second Brother's son, and that makes him Yang Clan."
"Fourth Sister, who told you that? Is there proof, or did he just tell you himself?" the man said, looking at Evan Yang as he spoke.
"Big Brother, no matter what you say, he is Yang Clan. And right now, he needs to go in. Don't you know Father issued an order—anyone who dares touch him will face soul annihilation!" Lydia Yang declared.
"Touch him? Have I touched him? I'm just having my people follow Yang Clan rules and guard here. But you, you attacked first—is that proper? Should I punish you too?" the man snorted coldly.
"Big Brother, are you really set on blocking him today?" Lydia Yang asked, frowning.
"I'm not blocking him—I'm just following Yang Clan rules. And as for him, if the patriarch hadn't given an order, I would've locked him up already," the man snorted coldly.
"Arrest me? On what grounds? Or are you saying you don't acknowledge that I'm Yang Clan?" Evan Yang finally spoke up.
"Still daring to talk back? You've got guts, kid. Don't get cocky—if you can't prove you're my Second Brother's son when the time comes, you'll be charged with deceit!" the man snorted coldly.
"How do I prove it?" Evan Yang asked.
The man had already decided on his answer. He sneered, "Proof? Of course, my Second Brother would have to get up and admit you're his son."
"Big Brother, what kind of reasoning is that? If Second Brother never wakes up, does that mean he's not Yang Clan?" Lydia Yang was furious.
"Fourth Sister, are you crazy? No one can prove he's Second Brother's son," the man said.
"I don't care—I've decided he's Second Brother's son, my nephew. If anyone dares touch him, they'll have to get through me first. And all those plotting to kill him behind the scenes, I'll make sure the patriarch hears about it," Lydia Yang said angrily.
The man hadn't expected Lydia Yang to be so stubborn. He also knew that among the four siblings, she was the most independent, so he showed no emotion and snorted coldly, "It's not up to you. If he can't prove he's Yang Clan, I'll be the first to act."
"You have to let us in anyway—there are people everywhere outside trying to kill him," Lydia Yang said.
"I already said, until he proves he's Yang Clan, he can't go in," the man replied.
At that moment, a cold voice rang out, "Who says he can't?"
The man heard the voice and looked toward the person emerging from the teleportation array. It was a Wine Beggar. He frowned, "You came too?"
"If I hadn't come, someone might try to harm my nephew," the Wine Beggar replied coldly.
"Third Brother!" Lydia Yang exclaimed, while Evan Yang looked surprised. The Wine Beggar, seeing Evan's reaction, grew excited. "You, are—"
"Evan Yang, Senior, I'm sorry for deceiving you before," Evan said awkwardly. "Don't call me Senior—I'm your Third Uncle," the Wine Beggar said excitedly. "Senior, I only know my father. As for whether I'm Yang Clan, that's still undecided. I'm afraid you might be disappointed if it turns out I'm not. My father doesn't seem welcome here, and I just hope he's alright and doesn't get involved in these matters," Evan explained.
"Who says you're not Yang Clan? I'd fight anyone who claims otherwise," the Wine Beggar said, clearly moved.
"Third Brother, until it's confirmed, he's not Yang Clan. That's what I say," the man insisted.
The Wine Beggar turned to the man. "So you mean I should force my way in?"
"You? Third Brother, don't joke. Since last time, you've been so down and out you're not even as good as a Yang Clan servant," the man snorted coldly.
"Is that so? Then let a servant try," the Wine Beggar said.
The man saw that the Wine Beggar wasn’t bluffing, and after hearing his words, he said, “If that’s the case, I want to see just how far you’ve fallen.”
With that, the man started a fight with the Wine Beggar. In everyone’s eyes, the Wine Beggar’s limbs had been crippled, but when they saw him regain his former strength, shock spread across their faces—even the man was stunned, and a hint of worry appeared in his heart.
Evan Yang was amazed at the Wine Beggar’s power, and even more shocked to learn he was his father’s younger brother. If what the Wine Beggar said before was true, then he had given up treatment back then because of Evan’s father.
Thinking about all this, Evan’s eyes grew a little misty, and seeing how hard he was fighting for himself, he felt an indescribable sense of gratitude.
“He’s your Third Uncle. His strength is above your First Uncle’s, but after last time, his limbs were crippled. Seeing him now, it’s almost unbelievable.” Lydia Yang said, extremely excited.
“Looks like his injuries are healed,” Evan said.
“You know him?” Lydia asked curiously.
“I treated his injuries, but at the time I didn’t know he was a member of the Yang Clan, or that his limbs were crippled because he refused treatment.” Evan explained.
“Oh? There’s such a story? Tell me about it.” Lydia asked, full of curiosity.
So Evan explained what had happened. After Lydia finished listening, she exclaimed in surprise, “So that’s how it was.”
Meanwhile, the duel had ended. The Wine Beggar had already injured the man and said, “Big Brother, after all these years, you haven’t improved at all.”
“Third Brother, you—!” The man was furious. For years, the hardest thing for him to accept was being weaker than his two younger brothers. Ever since both of them had suffered setbacks, he’d been secretly pleased. But now, not only had the second brother’s son appeared, even the third brother had recovered—something he couldn’t accept.
“Are you still going to block the way?” the Wine Beggar asked.
“Fine, just you wait. Today you broke the rules first, so don’t blame me for abusing my authority.” The man finished, snorting coldly.
He then left with his people, leaving the Wine Beggar to turn around and look at Evan with excitement. “I never imagined you’d be Second Brother’s son.”
“Senior, as I said earlier, until things are confirmed, I’m not truly Yang Clan yet—it could cause misunderstandings,” Evan replied.
“You—” The Wine Beggar hadn’t expected Evan to say that, but considering Evan was new here and unfamiliar with Yang Clan politics, it was understandable. So he didn’t push, and instead said, “Your aunt and I will stand by you. No one will touch you—unless they kill us first.”
It was a simple promise, but it showed their determination to protect him to the death. Evan was naturally moved.
“Third Brother, what now?” Lydia asked.
“Let’s go find Steward Lee. His place is safer.” The Wine Beggar said. Lydia nodded, then led Evan away.
Over at Terry’s household, things were in chaos. When the man returned, furious and wounded, the middle-aged woman asked, “What happened?”
“What else? That damned drunk beat me up,” the man said angrily.
“Dad, wasn’t Third Uncle’s limbs crippled? How could he still beat you?” Terry asked, puzzled.
The middle-aged woman frowned, feeling something was off.
The man said angrily, “Crippled? I don’t know when he got healed, but today he nearly killed me.”
“What?” Terry was shocked, and the middle-aged woman looked astonished as well.
“Looks like things are getting more and more complicated,” the middle-aged woman said.
“Yeah, those people were useless—they couldn’t handle even two of them. And now there are three, and they’ve come here. It’s impossible to touch him now, since only Yang Clan members are on this planet.” The man said angrily.
“But we still control the main authority here, don’t we?” the middle-aged woman said.
“Yeah, that’s what we can use now. We have to deal with that kid before my father comes out.” The man said, frowning.
“But Dad, Mom, Grandpa already said that if we make a move here, it’ll be exposed.” Terry said worriedly.
“Exposed or not, we have legitimate reasons.” The middle-aged woman said. “Legitimate reasons?” Terry asked, curious. “Yes, your grandfather said no one can touch him, but right now it’s not certain he’s actually Yang Clan. So we can use that as an excuse to make things difficult for him.” She explained.
The man agreed, “Exactly. I used that excuse just now, but with the strength of that kid and girl, I couldn’t handle them alone.” “Get a few other elders involved,” the woman said. “Those four high elders don’t want to help,” Terry said, frowning. “There’s more than just those four. We’ll find some who usually side with us and have a bias against your Second Uncle.” She replied.
