I Think You Were Unhappy

That just proves it—Ms. Rachel Zhang and Felix Xi are way closer than anyone thought!

"When was I ever not happy? What nonsense are you spouting now?" Ms. Rachel Zhang felt like she was about to cough up blood.

"I really think you weren’t happy at the time..." Sam Zhang, the firewood guy, was super confident in his observation skills.

"Me..." Rachel Young swore she never wanted to see this big, dumb idiot ever again!

She took a shaky, tearful breath, then turned to Vice President James: "Vice President, isn’t the fact that Sam Zhang and I both fainted the biggest clue here?"

"Come on, Sam Zhang was just dozing off! When did you ever faint?" Chloe Zhu teased. "Weren’t you just telling me that Vice President James never became President, so he always half-heartedly follows President John Summers’ orders and stuff?"

"You—" Ms. Rachel Zhang blurted out, "Vice President James! Chloe Zhu is lying! How about... you give her a Red Truth Pill? Give her one! That’ll clear everything up!"

"You can’t just hand out Red Truth Pills like candy! I’m not some lowly servant!" Chloe Zhu shot back, full of sass. "Unless the President says so, even Vice President James can’t just force a Master Herbalist to take one! You run the Enforcement Hall, so you know the rules, right?"

"This is Alliance business—who are you to butt in?" Vice President James said, stone-faced. "This is a huge scandal, and we need to get to the bottom of it! Someone, bring Chloe Zhu a Red Truth Pill!"

The Enforcement Captain glanced at him, then at the crowd outside the hall, and said with righteous conviction, "Vice President James, the rules are clear: if you want to give a Master Herbalist a Red Truth Pill, you need the President’s approval."

"The exams are about to start, and the President is way too busy to be bothered with this petty stuff! If I say give her the pill, then do it!"

"Uh... maybe I should ask the President first? It won’t take up much of his time."

"No need!" Vice President James thought the Enforcement Captain was extra chatty today.

"No need, huh? Then can you tell me why not, Vice President James?" Suddenly, someone walked in from outside the hall—it was President John Summers.

This was all thanks to Chloe Zhu sending Little Bao to find Quentin Qin.

Quentin Qin just happened to be right by President John Summers, helping out.

Vice President James looked a little awkward and quickly bowed, "President, I just didn’t want to bother you with this annoying mess."

John Summers smiled, "I get what you’re trying to do, Vice President James. But here at the Alliance, rules are everything. If it’s my job to handle something, no matter how small or annoying, I can’t just dodge it, right?"

Vice President James twitched his lips and managed a weak smile, "You’re right, President. I was definitely overthinking it!"

John Summers gave him a half-smile, "Yeah, you really were! Captain Colin Cao, why don’t you tell us what happened here?"

Captain Colin Cao was the Enforcement Captain.

He explained everything that happened today, leaving nothing out.

John Summers listened, then frowned at Vice President James, "It’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? Those two just have a messy personal life. It’s embarrassing, sure, but it’s not a big deal! Why do we need to force Chloe Zhu to take a Red Truth Pill?"

"I still think something’s fishy," Vice President James insisted. "Even if they were having an affair, why would they do it in the Alchemy Room with a firewood guy watching? There’s gotta be something more to this!"

"I want to report something!" Suddenly, an angry woman’s voice rang out. "Rachel Young is a total tramp—she’ll do anything for a thrill! I bet she only did it in the Alchemy Room because it’s more exciting!"
