"What's the difference between the two?" Ian Song asked the System.
"Figure it out yourself," the System replied coldly.
Ian wasn't surprised by the System's answer. For a moment, he actually missed Meow-Meow, the system spirit—annoying as it could be with its constant sarcasm, it still explained a lot of things for him.
Of course, with Ian's current intelligence, even if the System didn't answer, he could guess most of the meaning just from the wording.
Still, he hesitated—should he fuse the Livestream System directly, or let it become a sub-system?
After thinking it over for a while, Ian decided to fuse it.
Once he made his choice, Ian felt the Livestream System that had entered his body suddenly get sucked deep inside him and vanish. His own System seemed to go dormant as well—he couldn't summon the system interface at all.
Ian looked at Gavin Xu again, and saw fear and pleading in his eyes.
"Relax. I said I wouldn't kill you, and I won't. I'm just curious—by rights, you've crossed four worlds already, so why are you still so weak?"
With his sharp eyes, Ian could easily tell Gavin's power was only barely at the innate level—pathetically weak.
Gavin looked ashamed. "I thought having a System meant I could be invincible, so I neglected cultivation. Who would've guessed there were so many other System Hosts out there, or that I'd end up in a world like this?"
"No wonder."
Hearing Gavin's explanation, Ian immediately understood why he was so weak. Without a drive to improve, how could anyone become strong?
Since he'd already taken Gavin's System, Ian didn't mind helping him out. He brought Gavin back to the villa where he lived.
Gavin had used a Substitution Card and become a real person in this world. Even without a System, he could live just fine here.
Actually, losing the System might not be a bad thing for him.
With his mentality and strength, if he ran into another System Host, his odds of being killed would be over ninety percent.
The next day, at the City Special Police base—the Mech Squad's exclusive training ground.
The day after Tyson Tian was expelled from the Mech Squad, someone new was brought in to fill the spot.
With Tyson Tian's defeat as a lesson, everyone now treated Vice-Captain Ian Song with real respect.
Today, Ian Song received word that their custom mechs were about to be delivered.
"Vice-Captain Lu, the captain wants to see you."
"Alright, got it."
Ian went to Ryan Zhou's office.
Ryan Zhou smiled and said, "Come on, join me at Logistics to pick up the mechs."
There were twelve crates in total.
Two gold, ten silver.
"Open one up and take a look."
Ryan Zhou pointed at a gold crate.
Ian nodded and opened a gold crate. Instantly, a gleaming, imposing golden helmet appeared before his eyes.
"That's a Golden Dragon Mech from Hualong Dynamics!"
Ian exclaimed in surprise.
"Not bad, sharp eyes!" Ryan Zhou nodded.
Hualong Dynamics ranks fifth among manufacturers in the Federation. Their mechs are especially popular with Huaxia citizens for their performance and design.
Their standard models include the Amethyst Mech and Amethyst Mark II Mech.
The S-series models, which are stronger, include the Silver Dragon Mech and Orchid Dragon Mech.
This Golden Dragon Mech is an S+ model, priced at 8 million Federation Credits. Ian couldn't believe the City Special Police were rich enough to get him one.
To wear the mech, you first have to bind it to your own genes.
After gene-binding, Ian put on the Golden Dragon helmet. With a thought, a thin layer of material wrapped around his whole body, turning him into a golden mech warrior.
Ian tried walking around and found that wearing the mech barely affected his body at all. The main reason was the material was so light—the whole suit weighed just over ten pounds.
Ryan Zhou's mech was also a Golden Dragon Mech.
As for the regular squad members, they each got a Silver Dragon Mech, priced around five million Federation Credits.
Even the Silver Dragon Mechs made veterans like Hugh Xu and the others ecstatic—after all, even small-squad captains in the City Special Police only used Amethyst Mark II Mechs.
Tests showed that with the Silver Dragon Mech on, every member's punch packed the power of a ninth-level Warrior.
Speed-wise, they were even faster than typical ninth-level Warriors.
As for defense, it was absurdly strong—even a first-level War-General couldn't break the Silver Dragon Mech.
For the next few days, the Mech Squad focused entirely on training; no missions were assigned from above.
On this particular day, Ian Song was getting ready to go off duty.
Unexpectedly, four people strode right into the Mech Squad training ground.
One of them was Tyson Tian, the very person Ian had expelled from the Mech Squad.
Another walked beside him—a long-haired, gentle-faced young man, about twenty-seven or twenty-eight, with two stern middle-aged men following behind. Each had a steady aura and sharp eyes—clearly not ordinary people.
"Landon Lu!"
Tyson Tian glared at him like he was about to breathe fire.
Before joining the Mech Squad, Tyson had switched teams a few times, but always left as the winner.
This time, though, he left the Mech Squad as a loser. Worse, now that everyone knew the squad was outfitted with Silver Dragon Mechs, he was furious. Lately, whenever the topic came up, people treated him like a joke, and with his pride, he just couldn't stand it.
Just as his second brother Haoran Tian returned to the city, Tyson begged him to come and help him vent his anger.
Haoran Tian was also a Psychic Adept—one of the best among one-star Psychic Adepts, with a mental power of 9.6 points. In another year, he'd break through to 10 and become a two-star Psychic Adept.
Thanks to Haoran Tian, the City Special Police higher-ups had always tolerated Tyson's antics.
"So it's Tyson Tian. What brings you here?"
Ian looked at Tyson Tian and smiled.
"I'm here to challenge you," Tyson Tian said through gritted teeth.
"Challenge me? Did you break through to eighth-level Warrior, or have you become a Psychic Adept?" Ian asked with a laugh.
Tyson Tian could hear the sarcasm in Ian's words and snapped, "It's not me challenging you—it's my second brother."
"And who is your second brother?"
"My second brother is Haoran Tian!" Tyson answered proudly, keeping his eyes fixed on Ian to see if the name would scare him.
"Haoran Tian? Never heard of him," Ian replied, shaking his head.
Tyson Tian grew annoyed, then sneered, "You've never heard of my brother's name? Shows how ignorant you are—for a Psychic Adept, that's pretty sad!"
"By your logic, anyone who's heard of your brother must be a Psychic Adept too!"
Tyson Tian: "...!"
Just then, the long-haired young man stepped forward and smiled. "I'm Haoran Tian. Hello, Vice-Captain Lu."
