We Are Only Here to Exchange Immortal Pills

Ghost Elder waved his hand, signaling Queenie Green to stay silent for now. Then, in a voice heavy with gravity, he said, "Ever since that war five hundred thousand years ago, after our defeat, the native Immortal clans have been suppressing us ascenders nonstop. We've been in rapid decline ever since.

Now, there are only three Ancestral Immortals left among us ascenders. If those last three fall, and no new Ancestral Immortal emerges, we ascenders will never see the light of day again. That's why, before the final three are gone, we have to cultivate new Ancestral Immortals. But the resources needed for even one are astronomical.

The native Immortal clans saw this clearly and doubled down on their suppression. Two hundred years ago, we lost control of all 150 Immortalization Pools—the foundation of our strength. Without entering an Immortalization Pool to condense an immortal body, an ascender can only reach Golden Immortal at best. And the natives keep coming up with new ways to target our few remaining Mystic Immortals!

Eighty years ago, eight of our Mystic Immortals were ambushed—five died, three escaped with serious injuries.

Sixty years ago, five more Mystic Immortals on our side were ambushed. All were killed.

Fifty-three years ago, the natives got wind of one of our gatherings. That battle killed sixteen Mystic Immortals and over a thousand young Golden Immortals.

Forty-one years ago, another three Mystic Immortals were assassinated.

Then thirty-five years ago, twenty-nine years ago, eighteen years ago, and just nine years ago—every time, more Mystic Immortals fell. Now, our ascender side has fewer than three hundred Mystic Immortals left.

And in these two hundred years, we've only managed to produce eight new Mystic Immortals.

The number of dead Mystic Immortals far outpaces the new ones. At this rate, in less than a thousand years, all our Mystic Immortals might be extinct!

Adrian Moon nodded. "That Pill Pavilion is run by the City Lord's Mansion, and it only started trading after Ian Song killed Victor Tu and took over Whitecrest City. So, I suspect all those top-grade Immortal Yuan Pills are coming from Ian Song himself."

"Could he really be an alchemist?" Piper Willow exclaimed in surprise.

Adrian Moon analyzed, "Only a master-level alchemist can refine top-grade pills, and Ian Song just ascended to the Immortal World recently. There's no way he already knows a master alchemist. Even if he did, no master would waste so much time making Immortal Yuan Pills for him. So, the master alchemist must be Ian Song himself!"

"No way!"

Queenie Green doubted it. She just couldn't believe that guy was a master alchemist.

Adrian Moon continued, "Why not? The Pill Pavilion trades out a hundred thousand top-grade Immortal Yuan Pills every day. By now, they've probably exchanged over a million. Unless Ian Song himself is a master alchemist, there's no way anyone else could supply that many top-grade pills!"

Ghost Elder sighed, "If our Earth-Prime Hall had a million top-grade Immortal Yuan Pills, we could at least cultivate a thousand new Earth Immortals!"

Adrian Moon said, "Ghost Elder, how about I go see Ian Song again and try to trade for a batch of top-grade Immortal Yuan Pills? We're all ascenders—he might not refuse!"

"That works!"

Ghost Elder nodded, then handed Adrian Moon a Storage Ring. "There's enough Immortal Medicine here to trade for a hundred thousand top-grade Immortal Yuan Pills. If you can get some higher-grade medicine, even better. Oh, and take Queenie Green with you!"

"Ghost Elder, I'm not going! That guy's face is just too infuriating—I get angry just looking at him!" Queenie Green huffed.

"What, you're not even going to follow my orders now?" Ghost Elder's face darkened slightly.

Queenie Green couldn't refuse, so she just said, "Fine, I'll go! But if things get messed up, don't blame me!"

Ghost Elder smiled, then waved Queenie Green and Piper Willow off, signaling them to go rest.

After the two women left, Ghost Elder smiled and asked, "Adrian, is it true Ian Song has more than twenty concubines?"

"That's right, and every one of them is beautiful and refined!"

Adrian Moon nodded.

Hearing this, Ghost Elder's eyes flashed with meaning. "Queenie Green and Piper Willow are pretty attractive themselves!"

Adrian Moon instantly understood Ghost Elder's intent, though he was a bit uncertain. "Ghost Elder, you mean...?"

Ghost Elder nodded. "When you go see him, have those two girls show their real faces!"

"We'll only know if we try!"

Ghost Elder said.

Inside the City Lord's Mansion, Ian Song waved Steward Mi Yu away. He'd just asked him about the Saint Alliance, and according to Mi Yu, the Dark Covenant's reputation was utterly foul. Native Immortal clans have placed bounties on Saint Alliance members—reporting an ordinary member earns over a thousand immortal stones.

Reporting an Earth Immortal member earns ten thousand immortal stones.

Reporting a Golden Immortal member earns a hundred thousand immortal stones.

"Looks like their situation is pretty dire!"

Ian Song shook his head inwardly. He didn't believe the Saint Alliance could overthrow the native Immortal clans—especially since they don't even have any Immortalization Pools to produce new blood. Total extinction is only a matter of time.
