New Assistant Wendy Parker

1/4/2026

No one knew who the new assistant was being hired for, so nobody had a clear target in mind. Everyone just tried to show their best side.

Each candidate was sent to a different room, and the written tests were all different, so naturally the things they were evaluated on varied too.

After all, a female assistant doesn’t necessarily work for a female boss.

Because of this, a lot of people didn’t perform as well as they hoped.

Alex glanced at Wendy Parker’s test. Her answers were average, nothing special.

But before Wendy answered the questions, she insisted on tidying everything up—and that little video caught Alex’s interest.

You know, Charles Yin is a total neat freak.

Even though the assistant is being picked for Mrs. Yin, she'll still be around Charles Yin all the time. If she can't keep things tidy enough to please him, there's no way he'll keep her.

Wendy Parker might be worth keeping an eye on.

Alex immediately put Wendy Parker's resume in the 'to be considered' pile.

Wendy Parker knew she was just the family’s 'nanny.' Her only purpose, it seemed, was to keep giving and giving for her brother.

Wendy gave herself a bitter, self-mocking smile.

When this milk cow finally runs dry, I guess that’s when they’ll toss me aside, Wendy thought.

But she couldn’t bring herself to refuse their demands.

She didn’t even have to think about it—if she objected, her parents would cry and shout, accuse her of being ungrateful, of spending all their money and giving nothing back.

Forget it. Maybe this is just my fate.

Nothing more to say.

Wendy pulled herself together, grabbed her bag, and headed off to her interview at Yin Group.

There were a lot fewer people at the second round than the first—maybe less than twenty left.

Wendy started to get nervous. She knew she wasn’t the most qualified. Could she really make it? Could she really work for such a big company?
