A Small Surprise

1/11/2026

Mona Li froze for a moment before she realized what he meant. "Sir, are you sure you want to see this villa?"

"Why not? Is there a problem?" Ian Song asked with a smile.

Realizing her question was a bit inappropriate, Mona looked embarrassed. "O-of course you can! Please wait a moment, I'll go get the keys from the front desk."

"Sister Hua, could you please give me the keys for the central villa? There's a client who wants to view it," Mona said, jogging over to the front desk.

"Mona, don't tell me that kid's actually interested in the central villa?" one of the saleswomen said in surprise.

"He didn't say, just said he wanted to take a look," Mona replied after thinking it over.

"Come on, Mona, use your head! You think that kid can actually afford the central villa? Do you even know how much it costs?" another saleswoman chimed in, deliberately sizing up Ian from seven or eight meters away, her eyes full of disdain.

Privately, Mona also felt the saleswoman had a point and whispered, "I think it's about a hundred and ten million."

"Forget a hundred and ten million! I bet that kid couldn't even come up with ten million! Seriously, just find an excuse to get rid of him or you'll just be wasting your time," a third saleswoman sneered.

"Isn't that a bit much? If the client wants to see the house, we can't just refuse, right?" Mona said hesitantly.

"Client? Ha! That kid counts as a client? He's probably just here to enjoy the air conditioning," the fourth saleswoman said snidely.

"But I've already promised him," Mona said, feeling unsure as all four senior saleswomen insisted Ian couldn't possibly afford the central villa.

"That's easy. Just tell the kid if he wants to see the central villa, he needs to put down a ten-thousand-yuan deposit. The place is full of luxury furnishings—he'll get the hint and give up," the third saleswoman said with a cold laugh.

"Isn't that a bit unfair? What if he's actually serious about buying?" Mona stammered.

Seeing Mona still wouldn't listen, the fourth saleswoman grew annoyed. "Mona Li, I swear you're desperate for a sale! Whatever, if you won't listen, I'm done. But let me warn you: even if he looks, it's a waste of time. If that kid actually buys the central villa, I'll run naked around here!"

Mona gritted her teeth, stopped arguing, grabbed the keys, and headed toward Ian.

"Hmph! She doesn't know what's good for her," the fourth saleswoman snorted.

"Let it go, Sister Jiang. If she won't listen, just let her do what she wants," another saleswoman said, trying to smooth things over.

Standing seven or eight meters away, Ian overheard their conversation. Seeing Mona still insist on showing him the house, he couldn't help but feel a bit of admiration for her.

"Sir, please come with me. We'll take the electric cart over," Mona said, walking up to Ian with a smile.

Five minutes later, the electric cart stopped in front of the central villa.

Mona Li took out the keys, unlocked the front door, and invited Ian Song inside.

The villa was huge, with a total area of no less than 1,500 square meters.

It had three floors, all in a Western style. The whole place was fully furnished, with a home theater, gym, game room, and even a small conference room. There was also a rooftop garden.

Outside, there was a lawn, a swimming pool, a garden, and even an underground garage.

All in all, Ian was pretty satisfied.

"So, what do you think, sir?"

After showing Ian around the whole villa, Mona Li asked nervously, her mind flashing back to what the four senior saleswomen had said.

Ian nodded. "I'm pretty satisfied. By the way, what's the price for this villa?"

"That depends on your payment method, sir. If you go with a mortgage, you only get a 1% discount. If you pay in full, you get an 8% discount. The listed price for this villa is 110 million yuan." Mona Li answered very seriously.

"Alright, let's sign the contract," Ian said after a brief pause.

"What?" Mona Li thought she must be hearing things, her eyes wide as she stared at Ian.

"You heard me right, Miss. I want to buy this villa," Ian said with a smile, amused by Mona's surprise. "When we sign the contract, I'll give you a little surprise."

After Ian confirmed again, Mona finally realized she hadn't misheard. "Please wait a moment, sir. I'll call my manager right away."

"Go ahead."

Less than five minutes later, Hugh Cao, the sales manager of Central City International, hurried over.

He was surprised at how young Ian looked, but he didn't show any disrespect. He sensed a calm confidence from this young man.

Only shallow people judge a buyer by their clothes, he thought. He'd met all kinds of low-key tycoons before. One billionaire he knew dressed like a farmer despite his fortune.

These days, the richer someone is, the more they like to play it down. Of course, some just enjoy pretending to be poor for fun.

But Hugh didn’t think Ian was faking it or playing some kind of game.

To him, Ian just seemed like someone who didn’t care about showing off with fancy clothes or jewelry.

If Ian knew what Hugh Cao was thinking, he’d probably say, 'You’re overthinking it. I just dress this way out of habit.'

Once he decided the young man in front of him was a serious buyer, Hugh became very polite. "I’m Hugh Cao, manager of the Central City International sales department. May I ask your name, sir?"

"Ian Song."

Ian replied calmly, then got straight to the point: "Manager Cao, I’d like to know—once I make the payment, when can I take possession of the villa?"

"Anytime!" Hugh Cao’s smile grew even wider.

"Let’s sign the contract!" Ian nodded with satisfaction.

In all his years in the business, Hugh had met plenty of decisive buyers, but never anyone as straightforward as Ian. He quickly asked, "Mr. Song, would you like to sign the contract here or go to the sales office?"

"Let’s go to the sales office."

Five minutes later, Hugh led Ian to the sales office and suggested they go up to the VIP room.

Ian waved him off, saying there was no need. He preferred to sign right here.

Soon, the printed contract was brought over. Hugh explained enthusiastically, "Mr. Song, the biggest discount I can offer is 10%, so the final price is 99 million yuan. If you have no objections, please sign here!"

Ian nodded to show he had no objections, picked up the pen, and was about to sign. But then he paused and looked at Hugh. "Manager Cao, I’m really satisfied with Miss Li’s service. I heard that interns get a lower commission than official sales staff?"

Hugh immediately understood Ian’s hint and smiled. "Although Miss Li only joined the sales office recently, her work has been excellent. So, I’ll make her a full employee and calculate her commission at the supervisor rate of 0.4%."

He turned to Mona Li with an approving look. "Miss Li, aren’t you going to thank Mr. Song?"

"I’m officially hired, and I get the supervisor-level commission!" Mona felt like she’d just won the lottery. She suddenly realized Ian’s 'little surprise' was actually this—and it was way more than a little surprise, it was huge.

She bowed deeply to Ian, full of gratitude. "Thank you so much, Mr. Song."

"No, you’re just a truly professional salesperson," Ian said with a smile, then signed his name on the contract.
