You Did Not Pass Level Five

Princess Olivia Gu looked at her, paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "In my heart, you're also my best friend. If it weren't for you, we wouldn't be where we are today. I will remember your kindness for the rest of my life."

Grace gave a faint smile.

......

A few days later, the exam results were released.

Representatives from the Spirit Alliance Headquarters came and posted the results on the city's bulletin board.

All the Spiritual Alchemists in the Guild poured out—they all rushed to see.

Even the President went.

He took the Level Nine exam this time—he didn't know if he would pass.

There was a huge crowd around the bulletin board.

Everyone there was a Spiritual Alchemist who had taken the exam.

Of course, there were plenty of bystanders just there for the drama.

When the Guild members arrived, the Spiritual Alchemists automatically made way for them.

The messenger posted the results, starting from Level One and sticking them up one by one, all the way to the higher levels.

With each new posting, some cried, some laughed. Some were disappointed, some were overjoyed.

Grace stood there watching, feeling incredibly anxious.

"Chloe Zhu!" Lily Xu had also come, looking absolutely radiant.

"What do you want?" Grace shot her a sideways glance.

"Do you remember what you said?" Lily Xu asked.

"I've said a lot of things. Which one are you talking about?"

"You said, if you didn't pass Level Five this time—even if you cheated—you'd voluntarily quit the Guild."

Grace couldn't be bothered with her and said nothing.

"Why so quiet now?" Lily Xu asked with a grin. "Don't tell me you've got selective amnesia? Even if you forget, don't worry—we've all got it memorized for you!"

"If I pass, you have to kneel and apologize to me. You remember that part too, right?" Grace asked.

"Hmph! Let's see you actually pass!"

Grace said nothing and just watched the messenger post the results.

Because of the bet between Grace and Lily Xu, everyone in the Guild paid special attention to the Level Five list.

When the Level Five list went up, Lily Xu checked it three times from top to bottom.

After checking, she was so smug even her hair was standing on end. She burst out laughing, "You're not on it! Chloe Zhu, your name's not there! You didn't pass Level Five! You have to leave the Guild!"

Instantly, everyone turned to look at Chloe Zhu with suspicious eyes.

People started whispering and gossiping among themselves.

"She looked so confident when she made that bet. I thought she was something special, but I guess not!"

"Yeah! She's the Imperial Alchemist's apprentice and she couldn't even pass Level Five. What a disgrace to her master!"

"Do you think she'll actually honor the bet and quit the Guild herself?"

Even if she doesn't leave, she'll be too embarrassed to stick around!

......

Grace ignored them and kept watching the next set of results.

Seeing how calm she was, Lily Xu's heart skipped a beat.

Could it be... she didn't take the Level Five exam, but went for Level Six instead?

So she nervously checked the Level Six results.

But Chloe Zhu's name still wasn't there.

Lily Xu glanced at Chloe Zhu.

She still looked perfectly calm.

There's no way she went for the Level Seven exam... Lily Xu thought to herself.

Several Vice Presidents are Level Seven Spiritual Alchemists.

No way!

She's way too young!

When the Level Seven list went up, there wasn't a single name on it.

In other words, this year, not a single person became a Level Seven Spiritual Alchemist.

The higher the level in the Spirit Alchemist Exam, the harder it gets. It's normal for the lists above Level Seven to be blank.

Lily Xu finally relaxed.

So Chloe Zhu really lost the bet—she was just showing off!

She really gave me a scare!

"Chloe Zhu, what are you still looking at?" Lily Xu asked. "They've posted all the lists from Level One to Seven—your name's not on any of them! Don't tell me you went for Level Eight Spiritual Alchemist?"
