Two Specters Part One

1/11/2026

Sunfield Township, sunset and dusk.

The sunlight that once bathed the earth gradually dimmed, and the birds in this nameless mountain grew silent, as if a blanket of deathly stillness had fallen.

Chila—

Huala—

Andrew Han and Tanya Li stepped into the forest, glancing around on both sides.

Compared to the streets outside, this place was much cooler—a perfect spot to escape the summer heat. Yet it remained undeveloped, the dense forest thriving, making it desolate and rarely visited by people.

Suddenly—huala huala huala!

A rustling noise came from the forest behind them. Andrew Han quickly turned to observe, but Tanya Li smiled calmly, "Relax, it's just some small animals, not those things."

"Mm." Andrew nodded, his thoughts shifting.

According to Tanya Li, if a Specter approached, one could sense a faint, chilling aura with keen perception, and a warning would naturally arise within the heart.

This is the defining trait of a Specter.

Hua hua.

Tanya Li casually kicked at the ground and said in a low voice, "Don't be nervous. Just follow me for now. I need to make sure your senses are sharp enough to detect a Specter before we split up to investigate."

"Alright."

Andrew Han replied.

Immediately, they stopped whispering and briskly patrolled the area Tanya Li had mapped out in advance. As night fell, darkness engulfed the forest.

Only the distant lights of the Sunfield Hotel remained, faint and hazy.

But even as it neared nine o'clock, they still hadn't found any trace of a Specter—only the occasional chirping of summer cicadas and the sounds of small animals.

Fortunately, the faint moonlight allowed them to barely make out their surroundings.

Huala.
