For the Charlotte Family, the Goldspire Realm is more than just important—it's essential. With half of its mineral veins exposed on the surface, this plane is practically the backbone of the Charlotte family's business.

To have complete control over a plane is enough to guarantee a family's enduring prosperity. Even in their worst decline, they won't be destroyed—as long as they endure that low point and someone capable rises up, the family will soar again.

The plane coordinates of the Goldspire Realm have always been the deepest secret in the Charlotte Family. The guards stationed there don't know the coordinates, and the miners and slaves who work there—none of them will ever leave that place for life.

Although the Goldspire Realm is unfit for habitation and its environment is extremely harsh, losing access to its resources would cripple the Charlotte Family for years.

Just like the Blazeforge Realm—why is it so important? Both the Kingdom and Odin Kingdom are desperate to get their hands on it. The plane's vast lands and abundant resources are one thing, but it's also much more suitable for human habitation. The value produced here even surpasses the annual output of the Kingdom itself.

For something like this to happen—someone silently infiltrating the Goldspire Realm and crushing its defenses—means the enemy was fully prepared. There's no way they just stumbled upon the Goldspire Realm by accident.

That leaves only one possibility: there's a traitor in the Charlotte Family, and the coordinates of the Goldspire Realm have been leaked...

And as for who knows—or could possibly know—the coordinates of the Goldspire Realm, there are only a handful of people in the Charlotte Family.

That night, everyone who could possibly know the coordinates of the Goldspire Realm was summoned back.

The archdemon disguised as a magical artifact was also brought out, verifying each person one by one. If anyone was even slightly disloyal to the Charlotte Family, the archdemon killed them on the spot.

Cassius Charlotte was, of course, among those summoned. Seeing the family react so drastically—and hearing that the Goldspire Realm had been completely taken—he was nearly scared out of his wits.

Damn those Caucasus battle mages—those barbarians! Weren't they supposed to take their time? Weren't they only going to mine ore in some remote corner?

How did they conquer the Goldspire Realm in just one day, and wipe out every guard the Charlotte Family left there...

It's over. It's all over...

Watching the ancestral grounds ahead echo with screams, Cassius Charlotte turned pale. If he went in now, he was as good as dead.

In that instant, Cassius made a decision—he would confess.

He quietly found his father. Without another word, Cassius Charlotte dropped to his knees with a thud.

"Father, it was me—I leaked the coordinates of the Goldspire Realm..."

As soon as Cassius Charlotte finished speaking, Norvey Charlotte slapped him so hard he was sent flying.

"Speak. What exactly happened?"

After the slap, Cassius actually felt relieved. Snot and tears streaming, he threw himself at Norvey's feet, clutching his leg and sobbing as he poured out the whole story.

"...Father, you have no idea how outrageous that Matthew Merlin from the Merlin Family is. I was desperate, so I thought of hiring those Caucasus battle mages to take action...

...My plan was to have the Caucasus battle mages kill Matthew Merlin first. We’d be prepared, so even if they had the coordinates, it wouldn’t matter. I just never thought those barbarians would do something like this..."

When Cassius finished, Norvey's face turned completely dark. He glared at Cassius, his face full of anger—and even more, helplessness...

"You idiot! You actually made a deal with the Caucasus battle mages—and you paid with the coordinates to the Goldspire Realm! Has your brain been eaten by a groundhog?

Damn it! Those greedy, stupid, and terrifyingly strong barbarians—how could you think they were suitable for a deal? Did you really think they’d be so easy to fool?

You handed them a juicy piece of meat—how could they not devour it first? Do you even know how powerful those greedy barbarians are? Now that the Goldspire Realm is in their hands, do you think we have any chance of taking it back?

Idiot! Idiot! When the Caucasus battle mages were at their peak, the whole Kingdom couldn’t stop them. Even now, though they’ve declined, they’re still way out of the Charlotte Family’s league. Are we supposed to reason with those stupid barbarians?"

Norvey slumped in his chair, utterly defeated. The Caucasus battle mages were impossible to stand against, and taking back the Goldspire Realm would mean a direct clash.

Besides, now that the plane coordinates have been leaked, even if they did take it back, it wouldn’t mean what it used to. Those barbarians would keep harassing them, so even if they managed to snatch it back, it wouldn’t really matter.

No matter how much Norvey thought it over, all he felt was deep despair. Looking at Cassius, he genuinely wanted to strangle his son on the spot.

Cassius sobbed and pleaded, and seeing his father in such a state, he panicked.

"Father, this is all that Matthew Merlin’s fault! He looks down on our Charlotte Family, always opposing us. If we don’t kill him, the Merlin Family will trample us forever.

Now this has happened—I didn’t want it either! But our losses shouldn’t be ours alone to bear. Yes, it’s the Merlin Family’s fault, it’s Matthew Merlin’s fault. Maybe—no, it’s certain—Matthew Merlin teamed up with those barbarians to screw us over.

Father, we can't handle those Caucasus barbarians, but surely we can deal with the Merlin Family—and that damned Matthew Merlin, right?

Our losses—they can make the Merlin Family pay double! Maybe we’ll not only recover, but profit, and crush the Merlin Family in the process. Isn’t that the best of both worlds?"

Cassius, drenched in cold sweat, blurted out his plan and looked nervously at his father.

Norvey's expression shifted—he suddenly thought the idea was quite feasible.

Right. The Caucasus battle mages are trouble—those barbarians won’t listen to reason, and once they’ve tasted meat, the only way to get it back is war. But the Merlin Family? That’s different.

At its root, this all happened because of the Merlin Family. Now, if they force the Merlin Family to compensate, there's no way the Merlins can refuse—unless they want war with the Charlotte Family.

But would the Merlin Family really dare go to war with the Charlotte Family? With a little pressure, they’d surely hand over a plane to compensate.

Word is, the Merlin Family recently discovered a new plane—its environment is better than the Goldspire Realm. The mineral resources aren’t as abundant, but it’s rich in rare magical plants...

If they could seize it, their losses would be fully covered. They might even suppress the Merlin Family and take over some of their key businesses...

Thinking this through, Norvey decided the plan could work. The Charlotte Family might not be on par with Cloudspire Tower or the Black Tower, but they’re the next strongest force in the Kingdom. Would the Merlin Family really dare resist?

Even though he agreed with the plan, Norvey didn’t show Cassius any kindness. Instead, he waved his hand and sealed Cassius’s magic.

"Someone, take Cassius to the Black Dungeon for a period of reflection."

Cassius trembled all over, his lips white with fear, but he forced himself not to beg for mercy. The Black Dungeon of the Charlotte Family—just hearing the name made every family member shudder.

That's where the Charlotte Family keeps their enemies and traitors—once you go in, you can forget about coming out alive. Most who enter the Black Dungeon end up driven mad.

In there, even dying is hard. The wardens are all twisted sadists, experts in torture. With potions on hand, unless they get the information they want, they won’t let anyone die—and that’s the real terror.

Cassius collapsed, shivering, his mouth agape like a dying fish. But he knew, for leaking the family's plane coordinates, not dying was already mercy. Spending time in the Black Dungeon was the lightest punishment he could hope for...

Unable to stand, Cassius was dragged away. Early the next morning, rumors began to spread in Storm Fortress.

The Charlotte Family's Goldspire Realm coordinates had been lost—and the realm was completely conquered overnight...

Rumor had it that Matthew Merlin of the Merlin Family used some cunning scheme to obtain the coordinates of the Goldspire Realm...

As the rumors spread, nearly everyone assumed the Charlotte Family had suffered a major setback, while the Merlin Family pulled off a masterstroke, easily snatching a resource-rich plane...

Early in the morning, plenty of people were already milling around outside the Merlin Family camp—some even came to discuss business deals for mineral resources...

After turning away those who came hoping for a bargain, Lin Yun was left confused. He was busy in the alchemy lab, barely touching the ground, yet kept getting interrupted—everyone wanted to discuss mineral business with the Merlin Family.

Had the Merlin Family discovered a new magical ore vein? Or maybe a super-sized lode?

While Lin Yun was still puzzled, more visitors arrived.

"Matthew Merlin, get out here!"

A furious roar exploded above the Merlin Family camp. Lin Yun stepped outside and saw a robed mage—his robes bore the Charlotte Family crest, and he was an eighth-level Title Archmage, striding in arrogantly.

Behind him followed a group of Charlotte Family mages, all Archmages, each radiating powerful magical energy—clearly not here to talk things over.
