Entering the Thunder Pool

1/19/2026

Evan Chu burrowed through the earth, thunder rumbling in his ears. The attacks from the Earth Thunder weren’t a threat anymore, and the numbness in his body was fading fast. He was shocked to discover a faint trace of lightning power forming inside him.

This change stunned him. Lightning power was always wild and violent, but now—however faint—the thunder element was beginning to form within his body. His physical vessel no longer rejected thunder, and he knew this was an incredibly rare opportunity.

Aboveground, the black figure was still searching for Evan Chu. He’d been hiding in the earth for nearly ten days now, and by rights should’ve been forced out already. But there was no trace of him—meaning only two possibilities remained.

Either Evan Chu had already been killed by the overwhelming Earth Thunder underground, or he’d escaped. But in this lightning-saturated domain, escape was nearly impossible—so the black figure believed the first scenario was far more likely.

“Such a waste of a perfect physical vessel! Heaven is just too cruel—am I supposed to rot in this Thunder Pool forever? Without a body, there’s no way to break through the barrier at the pool’s core. What am I supposed to do?!” the black figure roared, his furious shout echoing through the ground and making Evan Chu tense up beneath the earth.

Evan Chu realized lightning power was gathering in his palm—he could even release it, though the force was weak. At best, it might be enough to kill a Heaven Martial Realm cultivator. But he knew the longer he stayed here, the stronger his lightning would become.

But he didn’t have time to wait. Venerable Solus had warned him: he could only remain in the Divine Battlefield for two months, after which the portal to the Azure Tide Ruins would open. If he missed that window, who knew when another chance would come?

He’d already been in the Divine Battlefield for a while, and had no idea what was happening with Frostbane Sect. Selena Yale and the other women were probably worried sick about him—just thinking about it made his heart clench with anxiety.

I have to reach the Thunder Pool as fast as possible—once I get the Thunder Spirit Pearl, I’m leaving immediately. With his mind made up, Evan Chu continued burrowing forward with renewed determination.

The deeper he went, the stronger the Earth Thunder became. If he hadn’t tempered his body with lightning over the past days, the power here would’ve paralyzed him completely, leaving him unable to move. But now, all he felt was a faint numbness.
