Light Imprisonment and Burning

2/27/2026

After fusing with those Shard Bugs, Immortal Lord Lin's strength broke through to the Emperor Realm, and now he's even reached eighth-tier Emperor. It's a kind of twisted power-up—no one knows what side effects it might have, but Lin is always the first to try, since his body isn't what it used to be. Back then, Evan Yang crippled him and he was just a ruined shell.

Now, even though he wiped out Evan Yang, he's still not satisfied. He wants to get stronger, even surpass Ethereal Sanctuary's control. The only way is to power up himself.

"It's saturated, can't go any further." Immortal Lord Lin paced back and forth, muttering to himself.

Not far away, Evan Yang sensed Immortal Lord Lin's presence. Even though Lin's aura now carried some of that weird Shard Bug smell, Evan could still easily recognize him.

So Evan Yang came to that place, saw Immortal Lord Lin pacing alone in the hall, and then Evan's clone appeared.

When he saw Evan Yang's clone, Immortal Lord Lin was shocked. "Didn't you die?" he blurted.

"Immortal Lord Lin, I said I crippled you back then, so how are you still alive? I didn't expect you guys to fuse in such a bizarre way." Evan Yang said.

"Looks like you've figured it all out. But I really want to know—how did you get out of the spatial crack?" Immortal Lord Lin tried to act calm, but deep down he was terrified. If he was alone, he'd never be a match for Evan Yang, and he was ready to run at any moment.

"That's a secret, I'm not telling you. But you—let's settle things between us." Evan Yang snorted coldly.

"Want to kill me? No way!" Immortal Lord Lin shouted, aiming his tail at Evan Yang. The space in Evan's direction slowly began to tear open.

"You think that'll work again?" Evan Yang chuckled, then dodged aside, and his true body appeared. With a wave of his hand, a powerful beam of light shot out.

The light flashed, stabbing Immortal Lord Lin's eyes. He squeezed them shut, but a loud scream echoed through the castle.

When Evan Yang put away the light, Immortal Lord Lin was nothing but a pile of charred remains. Just as Evan thought he was dead, the blackened mass began to move—a creature with a tail and a twisted head crawled out, glaring hatefully at Evan.

Seeing such a bizarre creature, Evan Yang was startled and tried to wipe it out again, but it moved incredibly fast—whoosh, it darted out the door. Evan wouldn't let it escape and immediately chased after.

When everyone rushed to the main hall, all they found was the smell of burning—nothing else.

The news quickly reached Nangong Palace Lord, who was cultivating. Back when Evan Yang sealed him, he broke the seal by fusing with Shard Bugs like his subordinates, and now he was still merging in a dark place. Hearing the commotion, he opened his eyes and roared, "Who dares make trouble on my turf?"

Evan Yang had no time to worry about the castle. He was completely focused on chasing that strange creature. He didn't know if it was still Immortal Lord Lin or something new, but with such a terrifying monster around, Evan couldn't rest until it was dead.

The creature rushed into the void, turned to see Evan Yang behind it, and roared. Then it tore open a spatial crack in the void.

Without thinking, Evan Yang grabbed with both hands. A huge beam of purple light erupted, enveloping the creature like a pair of hands, pinning it in place.

"Damn it, Evan Yang, if you keep this up, I'll drag you down with me!" The creature spoke with Immortal Lord Lin's resentful voice.

"I thought you were some other creature. What, trying to run again?" Evan Yang asked.

Immortal Lord Lin was furious and curious—how did Evan Yang's light reach so far and grab him? Wherever the light touched, he couldn't move at all.

"What kind of technique is that? How can you freeze me from so far away?" Immortal Lord Lin demanded.

"That's a secret you'll never know. Go die!" Evan Yang said.

As soon as he finished, Evan Yang's eyes flashed, and a powerful flame shot out—Sacred Flame from his Fire Eyes—wrapping around the immobilized Immortal Lord Lin like a venomous snake.

"Ah!" Immortal Lord Lin screamed, cursing wildly. Evan Yang kept going until only ashes remained, then put away the flame and withdrew the light.

The spatial crack closed as well. Once everything settled, Evan Yang muttered, "Looks like I need to go back to the castle and destroy all those things. A bunch of freaks like that is just too dangerous."

With his mind made up, Evan Yang flashed away, heading back to the castle.

Not long after Evan Yang left, a tiny crack opened where the spatial rift had been, and something small crawled out.

The thing grew slowly from a speck of dust to the size of a fist. If Evan Yang had been there, he would have been shocked.

Luckily, Evan Yang didn't know that high-level Shard Bugs had this ability—to shrink part of their bodies. Immortal Lord Lin, before Evan caught up, fused part of his soul into a tiny piece of his body and shrank it to dust size, escaping Evan's notice.

Even so, Immortal Lord Lin was badly damaged. It would take years to regain his old strength, but he couldn't accept defeat.

"No, I have to find a way," Immortal Lord Lin muttered. He thought of something to try, flashed away, and headed to the Shard Bug void, where he found a swarm of Shard Bugs.

The Shard Bugs saw the strange creature and felt it was familiar, so they didn't attack Immortal Lord Lin. He secretly laughed, "Watch me devour you all."

He opened his mouth and swallowed a Shard Bug. With each one he ate, his energy recovered a bit and his body grew stronger.

This was another strange ability from his fused body—Evan Yang didn't know about it. If he did, he'd have checked more carefully to see if Immortal Lord Lin was really dead.

Meanwhile, Evan Yang was outside the castle, where a crowd had gathered to watch him.

When they saw Evan Yang return from the spatial crack, everyone was shocked.

Especially when Nangong Palace Lord appeared, he stared at Evan Yang in disbelief. "How are you still alive?" he asked.

"What, Palace Lord Nolan, do you want me dead?" Evan Yang said with a smile.

"Damn it! I don't know how you're alive, but was that your doing just now?" Palace Lord Nolan demanded angrily.

"That's right. Immortal Lord Lin is already dead," Evan Yang replied.

"Impossible! He fused with the most, the strongest warriors!" Palace Lord Nolan protested.

"Is that so? Then I'm afraid you'll be disappointed—Immortal Lord Lin is nothing but ashes now!" Evan Yang said with a laugh.

"Ashes?" Palace Lord Nolan froze, then burst out laughing. "Kid, I didn't think you'd be so easily fooled."

"What do you mean by that?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"Immortal Lord Lin's body is special. As long as there's a speck of dust left, no matter how you destroy him, he can rise from the ashes. Who knows, maybe he's somewhere recovering right now," Palace Lord Nolan mocked.

Evan Yang was shocked. "Is that really possible?"

"Of course. He fused with special Shard Bugs—he's not like the rest of us. That's why I say he's the strongest warrior, almost immortal. And you say you destroyed him? Ridiculous," Palace Lord Nolan sneered.

Evan Yang hadn't expected that, but his eyes changed suddenly—a beam of light shot out, startling everyone. No one knew what technique he was using now.

When they tried to scatter, they found that anyone touched by the light couldn't move at all.

"What's going on?" Palace Lord Nolan shouted angrily.

"It's simple. Today, I'm going to wipe you all out," Evan Yang said.

"You—!" Palace Lord Nolan hadn't expected Evan Yang to be even scarier than before.

"Don't bother struggling. As long as you're inside my light, unless you have a way to break it, you'll stay like this forever," Evan Yang said. This was his light attribute, comprehended from divine arts—wherever the light touched, no one could move, unless they also had the light attribute or their strength exceeded Evan's control.

"Damn you, kid! Let us go!" Palace Lord Nolan roared.

"Immortal Lord Lin had a way to cheat death, but I wonder if you do too!" Evan Yang's eyes burned like poison fire, covering everyone. Their screams echoed through the area, reaching all of Ethereal Sanctuary on the Earth-Star system.

Evan Yang knew he couldn't drag this out, so he unleashed even more power. Soon, they were all wiped out alive. Afterward, Evan looked at the castle and said, "Time to destroy this laboratory."

He unleashed a devastating strike against the castle, then let Sacred Flame burn for a while. After confirming all the creatures were dead, he flashed away.

When people arrived, they found nothing but ruins. No one knew what had happened, and the screams from earlier gave them goosebumps.

"Did some Immortal Lord get angry and wipe this place out?" someone wondered.

"Who knows, maybe," another replied.

The crowd dispersed, and Evan Yang stood in the void, holding Palace Lord Nolan in his hand.

"Why are you holding me?" Palace Lord Nolan demanded angrily.

"Nothing much. I just plan to hand you over to the Immortal Realm Alliance so they can see what kind of creature you are," Evan Yang said.

"What? No!" Palace Lord Nolan cried in terror.

"What, scared now?" Evan Yang asked.

"The Immortal Realm Alliance will kill me," Palace Lord Nolan said.

"Why?" Evan Yang asked curiously.

"You don't know—the Immortal Realm Alliance once issued a decree forbidding anyone from researching Shard Bugs. My experiment came from a traitor in the Alliance, who warned that if they ever found out, we'd have no burial place," Palace Lord Nolan explained quickly.
