Evan Yang hadn’t expected Hannah Nangong to react this way, but he knew he was partly to blame. He’d been busy the whole time and forgot to bring her out. Now he apologized, “Sorry, I’ve been busy until now.”
“As long as you’re alright, that’s what matters. I thought I’d never see you again.” Hannah Nangong wiped away her tears. Evan was surprised that such a stubborn Hannah could cry, but at least he knew she accepted him now and saw him as a good friend.
As for what Hannah Nangong thought of Evan, even she wasn’t sure. But seeing Evan alive made her genuinely happy.
“Alright, let’s head back.” Evan said.
Hannah Nangong asked, “Did you get the Wood-Heart Core?”
“Yeah, look.” Evan took out a white Wood-Heart Core and smiled.
“How did you get it?” Hannah Nangong was overjoyed. Evan briefly explained how he got it, and when Hannah heard everything that had happened over these years, she exclaimed, “You really reached fifth-tier Heavenly-Immortal?”
“Yeah.” Evan nodded.
“It’s a miracle—just a few years and you’ve advanced several tiers.” Hannah Nangong exclaimed.
“But don’t tell anyone about this for now. If the Qing Family and Wood Family find out, they’ll definitely send even stronger experts to hunt me down.” Evan said.
“Alright, I won’t say a word.” Hannah Nangong replied.
“Now I’ve got the Wood-Heart Core and the toad, so all that’s left is surpassing you.” Evan Yang smiled.
“Surpass me? That’s not so easy, but I could always pretend to lose.” Hannah Nangong laughed.
“Pretend to lose? I doubt that’ll happen. Let’s head back first, then figure things out.” Evan thought for a moment before replying.
“Are we going back to the Sacred Palace?” Hannah Nangong asked.
“Sacred Palace? Forget it, we still have plenty of time. No rush. Let’s visit some other planets first.” Evan considered.
“Are you planning to find a place for closed-door cultivation?” Hannah Nangong asked.
“Yeah, but honestly, seclusion isn’t as interesting as facing challenges. Walking the edge of death is where breakthroughs happen.” Evan smiled.
“What do you mean?” Hannah Nangong asked suspiciously.
“The Wood Family and Qing Family won’t let me go. Instead of waiting for them to come after me, why not go after them? Let’s head back to the city where we first arrived and check out the situation before making a plan.” Evan said.
“Are you really set on this? What if they send an Immortal Lord?” Hannah Nangong asked worriedly.
“If they send an Immortal Lord, so be it. Anyway, I want to go to that city and learn about the Green Family.” Evan Yang said.
“Green Family? What kind of clan is that?” Hannah Nangong asked curiously.
“The Green Family is right here on our planet. I met a woman from the Green Family here—without her, I might not have survived, so I want to help her with something.” Evan Yang explained.
“I see. Is she pretty?” Hannah Nangong suddenly asked.
“Why do you ask?” Evan Yang asked, curious.
“Can’t I just ask?” Hannah Nangong replied.
“I suppose so.” Evan Yang answered.
“How pretty? Is she prettier than me?” Hannah Nangong asked curiously.
“Uh, each has her own strengths.” Evan Yang smiled.
“Strengths? Which parts are better than mine? And which parts do I have that are better than hers?” Hannah Nangong immediately started comparing herself.
Evan Yang froze for a moment, then replied awkwardly, “How do I even explain that? I don’t really know. Anyway, let’s drop it—let’s go to the Green Family.”
“No way, you have to answer. By the way, did you ever have a wife or kids before?” Hannah Nangong suddenly pressed Evan about his previous world.
Evan Yang thought for a moment. If he counted someone as a wife, then yes, he had one.
Seeing Evan Yang hesitate, Hannah asked, “What? Didn’t you?”
“How should I put it? There was someone, but we never officially married. Still...” Evan Yang said, a little embarrassed.
“Still what?” Hannah Nangong asked, suspicious after seeing Evan’s expression.
“You know, men and women...” Evan Yang said with an awkward smile.
“You scoundrel!” Hannah Nangong cursed after hearing that, feeling an indescribable frustration, thinking he’d been involved with other women.
Evan Yang said, “What’s so bad about that? Honestly, when you pick a husband in the future, won’t it be the same?”
“You—I don’t want that!” Hannah Nangong hadn’t expected Evan Yang to say that, and felt frustrated.
“Alright, let’s drop it and go.” Evan Yang felt there was no need to explain further—besides, he’d never actually married, just consummated the relationship that one day without the formal ceremony.
At that moment, Hannah Nangong felt a sadness she couldn’t express, but could only follow Evan Yang.
Evan Yang didn’t notice Hannah’s expression and simply kept flying with her. It took several months before they finally reached their destination.
“It’s nice to be somewhere with people—it’s lively. That place was way too quiet.” Evan Yang joked.
“Mm.” Hannah Nangong replied indifferently.
“What’s wrong? Not feeling well?” Evan Yang asked curiously.
“It’s nothing. Let’s go to the Green Family.” Hannah Nangong said.
Evan Yang sensed something was off, but since she wouldn’t say, he just followed the address Lila Greenleaf gave him and headed to that city. After passing through several cities, they quickly arrived. The city was average-sized, but not small.
Here, there was one main clan—the Green Family, considered the number-one clan in the area. Evan Yang needed to find Lila Greenleaf’s parents, so he had to sneak in to investigate.
So Evan Yang said, “I want to sneak in and take a look. After all, I can’t let anyone else know about this.”
“Why?” Hannah Nangong perked up, curious.
“She’s being hunted by her own clan.” Evan Yang explained after thinking for a moment.
“Really? That’s possible?” Hannah Nangong asked, intrigued.
“Yeah.” Evan Yang replied, then told Hannah Nangong the whole story about Lila Greenleaf. After she finished listening, Hannah nodded, “I see.”
“I’ll sneak in first. You wait for me at a nearby inn, or wander around the city if you like. You’ve got the Hidden Dragon Pill now—just don’t release any aura and no one will know you’re a cultivator.” Evan Yang said.
“Alright, be careful.” Hannah Nangong replied indifferently.

Evan Yang nodded and disappeared. Meanwhile, Hannah Nangong wondered silently, “What am I to him, really?”
Evan Yang had no idea what Hannah Nangong was thinking. At that moment, he was sneaking in, disguised as an ordinary servant. In the Green Family, there were many servants and cultivators, faces changed often—especially among servants. Those without cultivation were barely noticed by the Green Family.
