"Sir, be honest with me. Was that method you told Mason Payne really something you just made up on the spot?"
Mr. Brown glared at John Chou, his face twisted with anger.
"If I said I just made it up, you wouldn't believe me now. I heard someone mention this trick ages ago, so I guess you could say I said it off the cuff."
Mr. Brown let out a heavy sigh.
"Now that the body has a spark of life, if we inject yang energy, it might start moving."
The people from the Immortality Society are obsessed with this. Maybe they've discovered something more valuable than instinct. If it's just instinct, there's too much uncertainty.
Lord Shenyan spoke, glancing at Rufina Howard.
"Why are you staring at me?"
Rufina Howard asked, puzzled. Lord Shenyan stood up, his imposing two-meter frame looming as he approached Rufina.
"You really don't know anything? About your mother."
Rufina Howard shook her head.
"My parents died when I was very young."
"Is that so? Looks like those people don't plan to tell you, so it's none of my business."
Lord Shenyan turned away, but Rufina Howard grabbed his sleeve.
"Can you tell me? About my mother."
Lord Shenyan shook his head.
"A long time ago, I met a woman named Lora Waters. They say she'll never grow old, and she's the mother of the Prime Ancestor. That's all I know—I only met her once."
"Really."
Rufina Howard lowered her head in disappointment. Mr. Brown walked over.
"Little one, don't dwell on things that don't matter. Life is exhausting as it is—the more you think, the heavier it gets."
